Race 4 (1,950m)
(2) PAST AND PRESENT got fired up by a false start and had no luck in running on May 4. This consistent sort will take a lot of beating in this open maiden race.
(3) BEAUTIFUL SIDE ran a top race from a wide draw on April 21. Blinkers stay on. Nice draw.
(7) COPPER PLATE showed absolutely no speed last time in the 1,200m race at Kenilworth. He should appreciate the step-up in trip, even though he will need to improve quite a bit to win.
(10) MOMENT OF TRUTH is much better than his last run suggests. If he gets some cover early, he will be running on.
Race 5 (1,400m)

July 29 South Africa (Kenilworth) form analysis
Race 1 (1,200m) (7) SAUDI CAT won very impressively on debut, even though the market suggested that he might have needed the run. He will take a lot of beating again. (3) ALL THE RAGE ran a cracking third behind Roland Garros last time. Now that he is back up the straight again at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, he could trouble them all in the finish. (2) DEMANDING DAVE has been rested for 86 days. He finished like a train in the Grade 3 Winter Nursery last time. His form is very good, so if he does not need the run badly, he will have a good place chance. (5) SPIRIT won well last time. It was his first run back after gelding, and he finished strongly to win going away. Watch him closely. Race 2 (1,000m) (2) SWIFT SERENITY was just off the speed early last time, and then stayed on nicely for third. If she can build on her recent performance, she will have a massive winning chance. (4) ALESSIA ASHEVILLE has been rested for 125 days. She has run two very good races in succession from wide draws at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. If she does not need the run badly, she will have a big winning chance at a decent price. (3) HERITAGE RIDGE ran a fair race last time behind Clair De Lune. She has been well tried in the maiden ranks and her form is consistent. A good place chance. (7) PENNYS CHOICE disappointed terribly last time when she was very one-paced. The blinkers have now been fitted, hopefully that will help her improve. Race 3 (1,500m) (2) SIERRA SAGRADA was a touch unlucky in his first run back after gelding, where he caught the eye late when running on powerfully. He will take a lot of beating from a good draw. (3) RED WAVE has been rested for 69 days. He ran a terrific race over 1,000m last time, now steps up in trip and gets a neat draw. Watch him closely. (1) GETUPANDGO has been rested for 65 days. He is better than what his form is showing, so watch for major improvement now that he steps up in trip. (7) GREEN COMMANDER ran a shocker last time. The step-up in trip might help him improve. Race 4 (1,200m) (5) GIMMELIGHTNING has run two lovely races in succession behind progressive sorts. He enjoys the underfoot conditions being on the softer side. He will be switched off early, and will come with a strong run late. Include him in all bets. (1) SURGE OF POWER bounced back to form last time when he won. The talented sprinter was given two points for that gutsy victory, and if he can back up that performance, he will go very close to winning. (4) SCOTTISH KISS must have a good each-way chance. He ran a nice race behind Boogiefied last time over 1,400m. If the drop in trip does not worry him, he will be right there at the finish. (3) MAURITIUS KESTREL gets the tongue-tie fitted. He is very consistent and has dropped in the ratings. Watch him closely. Race 5 (1,100m) (9) DU MAURIER won her maiden in stylish fashion up the straight at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. She travelled beautifully before quickening away from the field to win convincingly. There is absolutely no doubt that she will go very close to winning again. (11) ROSA OSIRIA ran a lovely race last time behind Over The Atlantic. She fought hard all the way to the line and never really runs a bad race. If she can bring her last performance to the track again, she will be very competitive. (7) GOLDEN TATJANA ran a shocker behind Pink Pigeon last time. She is much better than that, and has dropped even further in the ratings. She gets the services of leading jockey Gavin Lerena, and could be the value in this tricky-looking race. (1) GOLDEN IDEAL has run some fair races in her career. Top jockey Richard Fourie gets the ride on this filly. On her best form, she will have a good winning chance. Race 6 (1,600m) (3) KING'S QUEST won really well last time at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He was given four points for that impressive victory. Again, he gets a nice draw and must have a good winning chance. (2) AFRIQUE ran second to King's Quest last time. He was doing some good work late. Now that he is better off at the weights, he must have an obvious winning chance. Include him in all bets. (6) BEL CANTO DREAM ran a good race in testing conditions last time. He was just off the speed early, and then stayed on well enough to finish just over four lengths behind the winner. Even though he carries a big weight, he should be among the places on his best form. (5) SHOW OFF had no luck in running from a wide draw last time, but he still managed to run a decent race behind King's Quest. With a decent draw, he can be very dangerous in the finish. Race 7 (1,600m) (4) STATE CAPITOL moved up like a winner in her last start behind Baton Rouge. Her form of late has been excellent. If this race has not come too soon for her, she will take a lot of beating. (5) MIDWAY found solid support in the market last time. He was given a great ride by jockey Luyolo Mxothwa to win a gutsy race. It was a deserved victory for this gelding, and he was given two points for that win. On his current form, he can win again. (2) SAINT BRIGID stayed on well for third behind Music Of The Night up the straight at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. She is consistent and this does look to be a better trip for her, so she could be running on strongly. (10) MELA STRENGTH never runs a bad race, but the wide draw and the big weight would not make life easy for him. If he gets some luck in the running, he could sneak into the quartet.

Brandon Flynn to play James Dean in new biopic, Entertainment News
Brandon Flynn will play James Dean in a new biopic. The 13 Reasons Why actor has been cast as the late legendary star in Willie and Jimmy Dean, writer-director Guy Guido's upcoming film, which is based on William Bast's 2006 memoir Surviving James Dean, in which he alleged he had a love affair with the Hollywood icon at the University of California, Los Angeles. Brandon, 31, has praised the script for humanising his character and showing an understanding of who he really was. He told The Hollywood Reporter: "James Dean is like the known unknown. His short life left behind just three films, a mountain of photographs and a cultural mythology we keep trying to decode. This script is a beautiful attempt at truthfully understanding who he really was — not just the icon, but the man. "It highlights how Hollywood has historically forced LGBTQ people into performance, even in their personal lives. "This story dares to present James Dean as a man with real, complex relationships, and I think there's power in that truth." The script is set from the first meeting between the two men to James' death in September 1955 and Guy is delighted to have Brandon on board. He said: "This is not a traditional biopic. It's a tender and sometimes tragic story about two young men who found each other in a time and place where being seen — truly seen — came at a cost. Brandon Flynn brings both the fire and vulnerability this role demands. I couldn't imagine anyone more perfect to explore and play out the complexities of James Dean." The filmmaker, who spoke to William in 2011, four years before his death at the age of 84, previously told how he felt "drawn" to the author's "unique story". He told The Hollywood Reporter: "I have been a fan and historian of James Dean since I was 18 years old, so I knew about his 'friend' Willie, even when information about their relationship was straight-washed by the Hollywood machine. "As a filmmaker, I love telling the story of a celebrity's life in their coming-of-age period. As a gay man, I was particularly drawn to Bast's unique story." In the book, William claimed he and the Hollywood legend become roommates, close friends and eventually lovers during their time at the UCLA's theatre programme when the pair were 19. The author — who also wrote James Dean: A Biography in 1956 — claimed the fling was kept private in an effort to protect the actor's flourishing Hollywood career, though he hoped he could reunite with his supposed forbidden lover one day. However, the writer's dream of a relationship was cruelly taken away from him when the Rebel Without a Cause star died in a car accident at the age of 24 in 1955. [[nid:719440]]
