Woman pimp held, one victim rescued in Thane sex racket bust
The operation was carried out following a tip-off received by Senior Police Inspector Vaishali Gorde, who leads the AHTC unit. Acting on the intelligence, the team laid a trap near Shahad railway station, located under the jurisdiction of Khadakpada police station in Kalyan city, said a police officer.
According to officials, the woman, a native of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, was sending photographs of young girls to clients via mobile applications and arranging meetings for services.
"Based on the input, a decoy customer and panch witness were deployed to the spot, and the team successfully intercepted the woman during the act," said a police officer.

During the raid, a 22-year-old woman was rescued, who is believed to have been forced into prostitution. The accused was allegedly operating the racket for several months, targeting vulnerable women and supplying them to clients in and around Thane and Kalyan.
The arrested woman has been booked under relevant sections of the BNS act and the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA). The rescued woman has been placed in a govt-run shelter home, and further rehabilitation efforts are underway.
Police are now investigating if the woman was part of a larger trafficking network and are working to identify additional victims and clients linked to the racket, said a police officer.

'Sagar Patil, the Savadatti taluk president of (Hindu right-wing group) Sri Ram Sena, wanted the Muslim headmaster to face serious charges leading to his transfer. To carry out the plan, he enlisted the help of Madar by blackmailing him over his relationship with a person from another community,' Belagavi superintendent of police (SP) Bhimashankar Guled said on Saturday. The three had allegedly purchased pesticide from a shop in Munavalli village on July 18. 'To execute the plan, the accused roped in a student related to Patil and offered him ₹500 and snacks to mix the pesticide into the school's water tank,' SP Guled said. 'To prevent the student from identifying the substance, the pesticide was transferred into a plastic soft drink bottle. After mixing it into the water inside the tank, the boy discarded the bottle nearby,' the SP said, adding that the bottle was a key piece of evidence that helped investigators uncover the crime. Police traced the shopkeeper from whom the pesticide was purchased. 'Based on the shopkeeper's account, the three accused were detained. During interrogation, they confessed to the conspiracy and were arrested,' Guled added. The accused have been booked under Section 123 (causing hurt by means of poison) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are remanded to judicial custody. Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday condemned the incident, describing it as a 'heinous act' rooted in communal hatred. 'Religious fundamentalism and communal hatred can lead to heinous acts, and this incident, which could have resulted in the massacre of innocent children, is a testament to that,' Siddaramaiah wrote in a post in Kannada on X. A Nepalese woman, who had recently come to Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly in search of a job, was allegedly beaten by a mob on suspicion of theft, police said on Sunday. The woman, identified as Sushmita Saru Magar alias Kajal, 30, hailing from the Pokhara district in Nepal, was admitted to the hospital in serious condition, they added. A panicked Sushmita attempted to re-enter the house through the terrace door but failed. Terrified, she jumped off the roof to escape, only to be surrounded and beaten by a mob wielding sticks. A video of the incident that surfaced on social media shows Sushmita pleading, 'I am not a thief,' with folded hands as the mob continued to attack her. The video sparked public outrage and prompted swift police action. Superintendent of police (city), Bareilly, Manush Pareek, confirmed that a case was registered under BNS sections 191(2) (rioting), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and 127(2) (wrongful confinement) at Quila police station based on the viral video and the victim's statement. The police said four individuals—Gaurav Saxena, Shivam Saxena, Aman Saxena, and Arun Saini—all residents of Baradari have been arrested, while efforts are on to apprehend others involved in the incident. 10 injured as private bus rams into KSRTC bus stand wall in Mangaluru; driver loses control
MANGALURU: Several persons sustained injuries after the private bus they were travelling in crashed into the compound wall of the KSRTC bus stand in Vittal on Saturday. Veena D'Souza, 42, a resident of Kanyana in Bantwal, stated that the accident took place when she was travelling with other passengers on a private bus. The bus was operating on the interstate route between Kalladka and Kanhangad. As it was heading toward Kanyana from the Vittal private bus stand, near the Vittal KSRTC bus stand in Vittal Kasaba village, Bantwal Taluk, bus driver, identified as Rajesh D'Souza, allegedly negligently drove the vehicle. Due to the driver's loss of control, the bus crashed into the compound wall of the KSRTC bus stand, causing injuries to the complainant. She initially received treatment at the Vittal Govt Hospital and was later admitted to a hospital in Puttur for further treatment. Nine other passengers on the bus were also injured and were referred to Vittal Govt Hospital for treatment. The driver and the bus conductor, Ravi, also sustained minor injuries. A case was registered at the Vittal Police Station under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the BNS.
