Apple has introduced a handy new battery feature that lets you know how long it will take for your iPhone to fully charge.
This charging time estimate is displayed on both the lock screen and in the battery section of settings.

It prevents you from unknowingly connecting your iPhone to a slow charger, and being disappointed when your battery has only recharged by a measly few percent.
If a slow charger is connected, the feature will notify you so you can correct your mistake sooner rather than later.

Another nifty tool is the new Adaptive Power Mode, which can save battery when you're using more juice than usual.
For example, if you're using Maps on a long drive, taking a lot of photos, or watching Netflix - the iPhone will alert you that your battery usage is up.
The handset will then help you trim down features you don't need, in an effort to prolong your battery life.

Morning routine
When you set an alarm and hit snooze (as I so often do), you only get nine minutes of extra slumber.
But sometimes that's too little - or too much.
Fortunately, Apple has introduced the ability to customise alarm snooze duration.
iPhone users can now choose between one and 15 minutes worth of snooze time, instead of the default nine minutes.
This feature is found within the alarm settings, where users can select their preferred snooze length.

WhatsApp users need to follow three rules to protect your account from scammers stealing data and money

WHATSAPP users have been urged to urgently follow three rules to protect accounts from scammers. The instant messaging app has over three billion active users, making it a huge target for cyber criminals. 1 Whatsapp users have been warned to take step to protect their accounts Credit: Getty - Contributor And Action Fraud has warned users that there has been a huge surge in reports of Whatsapp takeovers, where fraudsters gain access to the account and send messages to contacts with the aim of stealing data and money. Scammers often also lock people out of their accounts, so they can't send warnings to friends and family members to tell them they've been hacked. In a post on X, Action Fraud said: "Protect your WhatsApp account against hackers. "We continue to see a rise in the number of reports relating to WhatsApp account takeovers." So how can you protect your account from scams? Set up two step verification One of the best ways to prevent hackers from accessing your account is to set up two-step verification. This means that nobody can log in to your account unless you verify the log in on a secondary device, such as a laptop or tablet. Two-step verification makes it almost impossible for hackers to take over your phone, and also alerts you that someone is trying to access your account. To set up two-step verification head to your Whatsapp app and click on settings, account, two-step verification and enable. Never share an an activation code One of the main ways hackers gain access to your account is by sending you a message claiming to be from Whatsapp, asking you to share the activation code that has been texted to you. WhatsApp warning as grandad tricked into sending £24,000 to 'son' after scammers posed as him & stole credit card If you share the code, hackers can then reset your password, and kick you out of your account. "Never share your account's activation code (that 6 digit code you receive via SMS)," Action Fraud said. Stop, call think Finally, if you receive a message from a friend or family member asking you for money, try calling them before acting on it. Calling your family member helps to confirm their identity, and that they are actually asking you for cash. You could ask a question that only your loved one would know the answer to, or set up a code word in advance to ask the sender for if you worry they are not who they say they are. Scammer often pretend to be people's children, beginning their messages with 'hi mum', or 'hi dad'. They then claim to have lost their phone and be locked out of their bank account, praying on the parents' concern for their children's safety. Eventually, the fraudsters beg the mum or dad for rent money, with parents often forking out as they genuinely believe the texts are from their children. These messages often arrive via WhatsApp or text message, with scammers also sometimes pretending to be close friends or parents. According to Action Fraud, these types of scam messages led to a financial loss of £226,744 in the UK between 2023 and 2025.

Penneys have announced that they're releasing an app for customers looking to shop for their entire range. It's been wanted for as long as shopping apps have been a thing, and yet it never seemed like it was going to happen, until today, as Primark (what they call Penneys outside of Ireland) have announced that their new app has launched today (August 5). The app will allow customers to have the full Penneys experience in the palm of their hand, while still allowing the thrill of seeing an item you didn't previously have on your radar but might want to pick up a la a real Penneys in-store experience. Penneys have announced that they're releasing an app for customers looking to shop for their entire range. Pic: Chrisdorney/Shutterstock The new app allows people to browse the shops' newest trends and style inspiration wherever they are, with a stock checker allowing them to check and see if an item that catches their eye is available in their local store. A built-in store locator provides ease of access to the shop's opening hours and directions, while the favourites feature allows people to save items they may like for their next visit. You're also able to have personalised notifications to stay up to date on the latest arrivals, collection launches, and exclusive updates, all delivered through the app, which allows for effortless navigation. Alas, there's no delivery option (but hey, if you're looking for something specific from Penneys, it's convenient that you can check!) The app will allow for people to browse Penney's collections from their phones, while they'll also be able to check and see if an item they want is in store. Pic: Penneys 'We know our customers love the buzz of a Penneys store — from discovering the latest trends to picking up everyday essentials for the family,' Fintan Costello, Head of Penneys Ireland and Northern Ireland, said. 'Our digital channels are driving shoppers into our stores, and so with more people browsing online before they shop, the Penneys app extends that experience, offering a convenient and inspiring way to explore our ranges anytime, anywhere. Whether at home or on the go, now it's never been easier to connect with Penneys.' The app will allow people to check if there are items available in their local stores. Pic: Penneys The Penneys app is available in Ireland from Tuesday, August 5, and is completely free to download. Anyone with an Apple device (iPhone, iPad etc) can download them HERE, while people with Android devices can download them HERE via the Google Play Store.
