Saif bin Zayed meets Chinese official at Seamless Middle East 2025
DUBAI (WAM)His Highness Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior met with Chen Jie, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou Municipality and Member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China, on the sidelines of Seamless Middle East 2025.During the meeting, Sheikh Saif pointed out the importance of the strategic partnership between the Arab Federation for Digital Economy and the People's Republic of China.This collaboration is aimed at advancing the implementation of key projects and initiatives outlined in the Arab Vision for Digital Economy. The partnership marks a significant step toward establishing a cohesive Arab digital framework driven by knowledge and modern technology, stepping up global cooperation in the advanced digital economy sector, and reinforcing the Arab digital economy's role on the international stage.
In attendance were Dr. Ali Mohammed Al Khouri, Advisor to the Council of Arab Economic Unity and President of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, along with several officials.

Rescheduled UN conference will discuss Palestine recognition, says France
A rescheduled UN conference this month will discuss post-war plans for Gaza and preparations for the recognition of a Palestinian state by France and others, the French foreign minister said on Tuesday. France and Saudi Arabia had initially planned to host the conference in New York between 17 and 20 June. "The aim is to sketch out post-war Gaza and prepare the recognition of a Palestinian state by France and countries that will engage in this approach," Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said in Brussels before a meeting of EU foreign ministers. The conference was postponed under US pressure and after the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran, during which regional airspace was closed, making it hard for some Arab representatives to attend. The summit has been rescheduled for 28 and 29 July, diplomats told Reuters. French President Emmanuel Macron was set to attend the original conference and had suggested he could recognise a Palestinian state. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will jointly organize the fourth edition of the 'Youth Knowledge Forum' (YKF) under the theme 'Knowledge Economy and Human Development' in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The event will be held in partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) in Cairo from 20 to 21 July 2025. YKF will be organized as part of ongoing strategic collaborations aimed at fostering innovation and enhancing the role of youth in advancing knowledge-based development, while empowering them to become key drivers of sustainable development. YKF is a leading intellectual platform that convenes the youth and key decision-makers from various sectors to exchange vital insights and explore solutions to mitigate prevalent challenges. Its primary aim is to devise innovative solutions, which can help bolster the knowledge economy, support entrepreneurship, equip youth with future-ready skills, and reinforce regional and international cooperation among stakeholders invested in youth empowerment. The event builds on the dedicated efforts of MBRF and MOYS, which played a key role in the success of the forum's previous edition. It aims to expand on the achievements made and further enhance its impact. The initiative also reflects MOYS's continued commitment to empowering Egyptian youth with the tools and support they need to shape a bright and prosperous future. Dubai Municipality Completes AED190 Million Greening Projects to Enhance Urban Quality of Life
Dubai Municipality has successfully completed a series of large-scale landscaping and afforestation projects across key intersections and roadways during the first half of 2025. With a total investment of AED190 million, the initiative covered over three million square metres and aligns with the Green Dubai initiative and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. Major sites include the intersection of Al Khail Road with Latifa bint Hamdan Street, Sheikh Rashid Street to Al Mina Road, and the entry point from Abu Dhabi on Sheikh Zayed Road. More than 300,000 trees and seedlings were planted, along with 222,500 square metres of ground cover and flowers. Smart irrigation systems were installed, using underground pumps and IoT-based remote monitoring to ensure efficient water use and sustainable upkeep. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, stated the projects are part of a long-term strategy to enhance Dubai's urban identity and offer a vibrant and healthy living environment: 'Our aim is to reinforce Dubai's distinctive urban and aesthetic identity and solidify its position as a leading sustainable global city' The landscape designs reflect a balance between sustainability and aesthetic value. Native and ornamental species—such as sidr, ghaf, neem, chorisia, and bougainvillaea—were used to strengthen Dubai's environmental character. Public entry points also received unified visual elements, including decorative fencing and colour-changing vertical lights inspired by Arab architecture. Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency, emphasized the focus on using diverse species suited to the local climate and maintaining consistency in design: 'The landscaping projects were developed in accordance with specific urban and environmental criteria…' As of Q1 2025, Dubai manages 5.5 million trees and seedlings and maintains nearly 9 million square metres of green space. These efforts support Dubai's Quality of Life Strategy 2033 and aim to position the emirate as one of the most liveable and environmentally conscious cities globally.
