Nushrratt Bharuccha REACTS To Criticism For Moving Model Aside At Lakme Fashion Week

Nushrratt Bharuccha addressed the viral clip from Lakme Fashion Week 2025, explaining she moved a designer, not a model, aside on the runway.
It's been a few months since a clip of Nushrratt Bharuccha at Lakme Fashion Week 2025 went viral like crazy. The actress, who closed the show for NIF Global on Day 2 of the event in March, was caught on camera moving a young model aside on the runway. This led to a lot of controversy as many criticised her.
The video shows Nushrratt arriving at the end of the ramp, appearing visibly focused, before placing her hands on a girl's shoulders and gently shifting her out of the centre. While the girl gave a polite smile, Nushrratt's lack of interaction and the way she later positioned two others in front of her outraged many.
Now, breaking her silence in an interview with Yuvaa, Nushrratt addressed the online backlash, saying, 'She wasn't even a model—she was one of the designers, one of the children from the NIF class, jisko ramp show, centre stage nahi pata tha. Kya karu mein?"
'She was standing in the centre, there was loud music, and mujhe piche se bola gaya tha, 'Aap aapni jagah pe jake bane hojao.' Aur kaise jagah banau? How do I do it? Forget being a showstopper—any model who walks knows that she walks to centre stage, then turns and walks back. Woh toh basic hai," added Nushrratt.
Nushrratt Bharuccha had turned showstopper in a striking, layered ensemble designed by 19-year-olds Ananya Mutta and Himanshi Garg from NIF Global, Gandhinagar. The Pyaar Ka Punchnama actress was seen confidently walking the ramp when she encountered a model standing in her path. Rather than taking a detour, Nushrratt casually held the model from behind and guided her aside.
Many found Nushrratt's gesture to be rude.
Take a look:
Professionally, Nushrratt Bharuccha's most recent outing was in Chhorii 2, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on April 11. The horror sequel featured her alongside Soha Ali Khan, Gashmeer Mahajani, and Saurabh Goyal.
Chhorii 2, directed by Vishal Furia, is the follow-up to the 2021 horror film Chhorii and continues the spine-chilling story that first brought Nushrratt into the horror spotlight.

Priyanka Chopra looked like nothing, was dark-skinned and skinny': Smita Jaykar recalls her first impression and transformation into a diva

Priyanka Chopra shattered ceilings and rose above standard beauty norms, becoming a global name. The actor often came under scrutiny for her dark complexion and skinny physique in the early days of her career. However, she made sure to aim for her higher goal and broke stereotypes at every stage. In a recent interview, veteran actor Smita Jaykar, who worked with Priyanka in the 2004 film Kismat, opened up about her first impression of the actor, and how she proved her wrong. During a conversation with Filmymantra Media, Smita recalled meeting her for the first time and said, 'I did Priyanka's initial days' film with her, Kismat. She was very thin, skinny, dark. She was introduced to me and Mohan Joshi that she will be playing our daughter. When I saw her, I said, 'Oh My God'. She looked like nothing at that point of time. I thought how do these people come to become a heroine.' 'Cut to, Priyanka Chopra was wow. I thought what has this girl gone and done. She became a diva completely. So, you can't judge somebody and say, 'Yaar, yeh kisko leke aaye ho'. Kuch maaloom nahi kiski kismat kab badal jaaye. What an actress, fab!' the veteran actor said. In an interview with BBC earlier, Priyanka had revealed that she was subjected to body shaming for her complexion. She said, 'I was called 'black cat', 'dusky'. I mean, what does 'dusky' even mean in a country where we are literally all are brown? I thought I was not pretty enough, I believed that I would have to work a lot harder, even though I thought I was probably a little bit more talented than my fellow actors who were lighter skinned. But I thought that was right because it was so normalised.' On the professional front, Priyanka Chopra's recent film Heads of State premiered on Amazon Prime Video on July 2. Helmed by Ilya Naishuller, the American action comedy drama also stars Idris Elba, and John Cena in lead roles, along with Jack Quaid, Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, and Carla Gugino in key roles. In the film, Priyanka is playing the role of MI6 agent Noel Bisset, who is on a mission to uncover a global conspiracy. On the other hand, Smita Jaykar's next film is Maa Lapataa. She will also be seen in the web series Romeo season three.

Uppu Kappurambu: A quirky rural tale with heart and humor

Uppu Kappurambu, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, is a heartwarming rural dramedy set in the 1990s. Directed by Ninnila Ninnila fame Ani I.V. Sasi and starring Suhas and Keerthy Suresh, the film blends eccentric storytelling with emotional undertones, offering a charmingly offbeat watch that dares to be different. Story: In the peculiar village of Chitti Jayapuram, Aparna (Keerthy Suresh) unexpectedly becomes the panchayat president, despite having no clue about governance. Enter Chinna (Suhas), a humble gravedigger battling cancer, who brings up an unusual concern in a village meeting—only four graves remain in the village cemetery. What follows is a bizarre yet thought-provoking scramble as villagers rush to reserve spots, all while Chinna tries to fulfill his mother's final wish. Aparna and Chinna's intertwined journey forms the emotional and comedic backbone of the film. Performances: Suhas continues to impress with his ability to transform into any role. His portrayal of a sick, grounded young man is both restrained and impactful. Keerthy Suresh, shedding her glamorous image, dives headfirst into a delightfully oddball role. Her transformation from a clueless leader to a determined problem-solver is commendable. Supporting actors Babu Mohan and Shatru bring levity, while Talluri Rameshwari adds gravitas with a poignant performance. Technicalities: Ani I.V. Sasi deserves praise for crafting a story that stands apart. The narrative's tonal shift—from absurd humor to heartfelt emotion—is ambitious and largely successful. Cinematography by the rural backdrops captures the essence of village life beautifully. The background score enhances both comedic and emotional beats, while the songs are soulful and situationally apt. Editing falters slightly in the first half but regains rhythm post-interval. Overall, the production values are modest yet effective. Analysis: Uppu Kappurambu is an unconventional film that walks the fine line between satire and sentiment. While its quirkiness might not be for everyone, its emotional payoff and character arcs make it a rewarding experience. It celebrates the beauty in the bizarre and the humanity in the simplest acts. A charming and bold rural drama that mixes humor with heart. Powered by sincere performances and a unique premise, Uppu Kappurambu is worth your time—especially if you're in the mood for something refreshingly different. Rating: 3/5
