Influencer's ‘entitled' supermarket act enrages onlookers

News.com.au13-06-2025
In the age of TikTok, influencers are known for their rather unique content creation methods, but one recent video has left onlookers really scratching their heads.
The clip, which has gone viral, features influencer Meliss Milan taste-testing a Pandan cake in the fridge section of a Woolworths, while a bemused shopper attempts to grab an item from the shelf she's blocking.
Ms Milan took to the video sharing platform to share her latest product find with her followers.
'I am obsessed with Pandan,' she declared, holding up the cake for the camera.
'I got this Pandan Swiss cake, so we're going to give it a go.'
As she unwrapped the packaging, she explained, 'I am inside Woolies as we came to get a chocolate mudcake too'.
Ms Milan's taste test began with her describing the cake as 'very coconutty, creamy,' and 'so light'.
However, her review was cut short when a man, clearly on a mission to grab his own dessert, interrupted her.
Ms Milan awkwardly smiled at the camera before stepping aside, allowing the shopper to reach for his item.
The onlooker's perspective
Meanwhile, another shopper, @codah_h, captured the scene from a distance, dubbing it an 'influencer in real life'.
His video shows Ms Milan with her phone propped up against the fridge railing, filming herself in selfie mode.
An older man, visibly puzzled, attempts to navigate around her to access the products.
'Of all the places to make a video,' @codah_h remarked, adding in the comments, 'I'm appalled at you being in this man's way when he was just trying to get some dessert'.
People weigh in
The video was immediately flooded with comments, with many expressing their second-hand embarrassment.
'This is so embarrassing! How is she not embarrassed?' one person questioned.
Another added, 'Yeah there's a time and a place … And this isn't it'.
'She couldn't wait until she got home?' one person asked, while others labelled the situation as 'cooked', 'entitled', and 'cringe'.
A particularly irked commenter noted, 'It's common KNOWLEDGE to maybe not record in a public place where people need to be able to grab things?'
Others empathised with the other shopper, saying, 'Get out of that poor man's way,' and 'I dislike when people are in my way while they're SHOPPING. This would next level irritate me'.
Defence for the influencer
Despite the backlash, the influencer had her defenders.
'To be fair, she didn't see him … and she moved as soon as he came up to her. You're acting like she stayed in his way after noticing him. It's not that deep,' one person argued.
Another chimed in, 'All she was doing was recording a video, harmless. What's embarrassing is all the people jumping on the hate train, not her'.
Finally, one fan eloquently encouraged Ms Milan to 'Stay unbothered queen'.

The Wiggles' breakout star ‘Tree of Wisdom' lands own headline tour, to release new album

Yes, the Tree of Wisdom did catch The Wiggles cast off-guard when he pulled out those dance moves during filming. Dominic Field, as he's known out of his vibrant green leafy costume, has exploded in popularity over the past year thanks to his signature set of chaotic routines on the Australian children's program, which have made him a bona fide social media sensation with more than 200 million views. And just months after finding viral fame, Field is slated to headline his own national tour, with The Wiggles today announcing the upcoming 'Tree of Wisdom Arena Spectacular Tour' kicking off in November, as well as his own studio album to be released in October. Field's public favour all stems back to The Wiggles' recent reimagining of the catchy Irish folk song Rattlin' Bog. In the music video, he breaks out into a series of chaotic dance moves that progressively get more and more adventurous. Among the hundreds of re-shares on TikTok, including from US reality star Khloe Kardashian, the general consensus has been: 'I want whatever the Tree of Wisdom is having.' Aside from that, many viewers have also been eager to understand what went down on-set when it was filmed, with a flurry of comments pointing to a visibly mystified Purple Wiggle Lachy, who attempts to hold character as Field lets loose. Speaking to Field confirmed no-one knew just how hard he was going to go. 'The way we work at The Wiggles … it wasn't on the schedule four months in advance. You know? It was very much just like, we've got a week of filming and we'll see what we can fit in,' Field says. 'And so it was very much just, 'OK next we're doing the Rattlin' Bog.' It's such difficult song to sing. There's so many words. So it was a matter of, they're [the core cast] locked into to what they need to do, and I've pretty much got free range, and my ultimate goal was to try to slip up Lachy, or slip up someone in the background. 'Every time I'm dancing, I'm trying to catch someone off guard. I'm also thinking, 'OK, what can I do next?' And whatever comes out when it comes out. That's what happens, and it always seems to get bigger and faster.' Fans can expect that signature energy for Field's upcoming tour, with the set list comprising of Wiggles classics and music from the upcoming Tree of Wisdom album. Two tracks have been unveiled early today, including Field's cover of Tina Turner's iconic Nutbush City Limits featuring Yellow Wiggle Tsehay Hawkins. Field has a grand goal with the iconic dancefloor earworm, revealing The Wiggles have discovered the song is only a staple in Australia, despite Turner's US roots. 'We've realised recently that Australia is the only one who does the dance,' Field says. 'We've been touring the world and we play this song and we just get these looks. Even in New Zealand, our close neighbours. It's not much of a thing there. 'No one knows the nutbush dance. So we've taken it on ourselves. We are going to be the international teachers of the nutbush dance.' Field, the youngest child of former Wiggles manager Paul Field and nephew of OG Blue Wiggle Anthony Field, who first appeared in the beloved group as a one-year-old in 1995, has also managed to transcend the target youth market, assembling a fanbase of what he coins 'tree-nagers' and parents alike. Just weeks ago, Field set the Old Mates pub in New York alight when he whipped out his signature moves for dozens of adults, yet again, going viral on the platform. He's chuffed by the admiration, mostly because he's quietly been 'that guy' on wedding dance floors for years. 'I think it just really reminds everyone of that one guy at a wedding, or that one guy on the dance floor, who doesn't really care what's going on around him,' Field says. 'I think the thing I'm proudest of the most is … What you see of the Tree is very much who I am. I am that guy at the wedding who's just having the best time. 'I'm the youngest of five children. So I've always been trying to get the attention of my parents and all that stuff. So it's just me just having the most fun. And I think that resonates with people.' Presale tickets for 'The Wiggles' Tree of Wisdom Big Show Arena Spectacular Tour', sponsored by the Australian Fruit and Vegetable Industry, will be available from 1pm AEDT Tuesday July 29 for Amex Card members. General public tickets go on sale this Friday August 1 at 2pm. 'It's going to be in the round, which we haven't done for quite some time. The original Wiggles did it way back in the day, but this new generation of Wiggles, we're doing it in the round, in the arena. It's gonna be spectacular,' Field says. 'Of course, we'll have the classic songs that everyone knows and loves from The Wiggles, but we're throwing in some new stuff. There's gonna be balls flying around, and of course, there's gonna be some new stuff from the Tree of Wisdom album as well. It's going to get people dancing and it's going to bring that energy up.' Booby tape founder Bridgett Roccisano confirms marriage split

An Australian fashion entrepreneur has confirmed she's split from her husband – three months after the couple welcomed their first child. Bridgett Roccisano, who created Booby Tape with her sister Bianca, confirmed she has separated from her husband of two years, Joshua Cavallaro. The 31-year-old said she was 'devastated' by the break-up and stressed her focus was on their young daughter Elle who she gave birth to in April. 'This year has brought more change than I could have ever imagined. Becoming a mother has been the most profound and beautiful gift of my life,' Ms Roccisano wrote in a statement posted to Instagram on Monday. 'While I am devastated and disappointed the journey hasn't unfolded the way I envisioned, as family is everything to me, I've discovered a strength within myself that I never knew existed for both my daughter and I. 'Elle and I may be walking a different path now, but it's one filled with support and most importantly, stability and love.' The new mum's heartfelt admission comes just hours after she posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show her without her wedding ring, sparking speculation about her marriage. In the snaps, Ms Roccisano, who also shares cult fashion label Bianca and Bridgett with her elder sister, could be seen in a 'sold out' red-wine coloured suit from the brand's latest collection. 'It's been a minute! Suit, always @biancaandbridgett,' she captioned the post. But some eagle-eyed followers were quick to spot her left hand, which was holding her phone as she took the mirror selfies, didn't have her statement diamond sparkler. Mr Cavallaro hasn't spoken publicly about his marriage breakdown, but according to the Daily Mail, he has removed all images of his wife from his social media pages. Ms Roccisano, who became a self-made millionaire alongside her sister Bianca after launching Booby Tape – a 'breast lift in a box' – in March 2019, married Mr Cavallaro, a senior draftsman for the civil engineering firm Laker Group, in April 2023, two years after they got engaged. It comes after both Booby Tape and Bianca & Bridgett hit major business milestones. The fashion brand recently landed a deal to be stocked in David Jones stores across the country, while the body adhesive will soon be stocked in Boots, a major British beauty retailer.

First trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer released

The first full-length trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash, the next instalment in James Cameron's record-breaking Avatar series, has been released today. Set for release in cinemas this December, the new film follows 2009's Avatar, still the highest-grossing film of all time, and 2022's Avatar: The Way of Water, which sits at number three on the all-time box office list (Avengers: Endgame sits between them, while another James Cameron epic, Titanic, sits at number four). The new film features the same main cast as earlier instalments – led by Aussie actor Sam Worthington as Marine turned Na'vi leader Jake Sully, and recent Oscar-winner Zoe Saldana as Na'vi warrior Neytiri. Fire and Ash is only the third in a planned five-film franchise for Avatar, with more sequels currently scheduled for 2029 and 2031. Cameron's plan to stagger the franchise over a period of more than two decades has been mocked by some, but the results for the first Avatar sequel proved the naysayers wrong: The Way of Water made well over $US2 billion at the global box office, showing there was huge audience appetite despite the 13-year gap between the first two films. But it has been a daunting task for Avatar 's cast and crew: 'I was 28 when I signed on to do five films and will be 54 when we finish,' lead actress Saldana once memorably noted. And speaking to in 2022 before the release of the second film, Worthington insisted he never realised he was signing on for a decades-long endeavour when he agreed to star in the first film. 'A sequel was never really discussed. I think it was many years later, after Jim (director James Cameron) had taken up free diving, that I got a call. The way he was talking about it, I thought, 'OK, I think he's going to incorporate that into something,'' he said. 'But it took a couple of years and a couple of phone calls with Jim to discover that he wanted to keep progressing this story.'
