Prithviraj Sukumaran's Team SLAMS 'False' Rumours About Mohanlal's L3 Azrael

News1810 hours ago
Prithviraj Sukumaran's team issued a statement clarifying that he has not made any comments about underwater sequences in part 3 of Lucifer, L3: Azrael.
Actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran has been busy promoting his recently-released film 'Sarzameen'. Amid this, certain media reports about his Malayalam blockbuster franchise Lucifer also surfaced on the Internet. A few Malayalam channels suggested that the third installment of Lucifer, L3: Azrael, would include high-octane underwater action scenes. However, Prithviraj's team has debunked these claims.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Prithviraj's official team, POFFACTIO, dismissed the circulating reports as 'completely false' and 'entirely untrue.' They expressed disappointment over major channels spreading misinformation, clarifying that Prithviraj never made such statements about L3: Azrael. They highlighted that these false claims seem to stem from a fake social media profile, likely part of a 'hate campaign' against the actor. 'We express our disappointment in major channels for spreading false news claiming that Prithviraj Sukumaran made statements about the L3 movie. These reports are entirely untrue. We urge all media outlets to refer to the official interview videos from the Sarzameen promotions for accurate information. It appears this misinformation originated from a fake profile ID as part of a hate campaign," read the statement.
They urged media outlets to refer to official interview videos from Sarzameen promotions for accurate information, requesting that channels verify facts before reporting. 'We request all channels to cross-check facts before reporting and to republish corrected news to clarify the truth to the public and Prithviraj's well-wishers. We expect a professional approach in handling this matter. Thank you," they added.
The Lucifer franchise, starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj, began with Lucifer in 2019. The sequel, L2: Empuraan, released earlier this year, received positive reactions from fans. L3: Azrael is anticipated to be the final chapter of the political-action trilogy, though no official details about its plot or filming schedule have been revealed.
While details of L3 remain undisclosed, Prithviraj is actively involved in various projects. After Empuraan, he featured in the comedy Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil and recently in Sarzameen, alongside Kajol and Ibrahim Ali Khan. Sarzameen was released on 25 July 2025, on JioHotstar.

Did Prithviraj Sukumaran compare Kajol to Mohanlal? Actor says ‘sometimes it's tough…' to shoot scenes with her in Sarzameen

Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kajol's Sarzameen released on July 25. Prithviraj Sukumaran, who recently starred in Sarzameen alongside Kajol and debutant Ibrahim Ali Khan, has opened up about his experience working with the Bollywood icon—and he had nothing but praise, mixed with some hilarious on-set moments. In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the Malayalam superstar, known for his versatility and depth, revealed that Kajol's acting style reminded him of another screen legend—Mohanlal. Describing Kajol as 'wonderful' and 'truly gifted,' Prithviraj said that working with instinctive actors like her brings an element of unpredictability to a scene. He explained that much like Mohanlal, who delivers a different performance with every take, Kajol doesn't rely on rehearsals and instead trusts her instincts. 'She truly believes in being instinctive about her performance pitch,' he shared, noting that it made the collaboration exciting and dynamic. Prithviraj also spoke fondly of Kajol's vibrant energy on set, calling her 'a constant caffeine overdose in a very nice way.' But things didn't always go smoothly—especially when filming an emotional scene where Kajol's character delivers a powerful line about motherhood. For some unexplained reason, both actors couldn't stop laughing during takes, to the point where director Kayoze Irani nearly gave up on them. Despite the challenge, Prithviraj said it was all in good fun and expressed his admiration for Kajol, adding that he hopes they get to work together again in the is written and directed by Kayoze Irani, son of Boman Irani, in his feature directorial debut. Backed by Dharma Productions and Star Studios, the film is produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, and Apoorva Mehta. Headlined by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kajol, and Ibrahim Ali Khan, Sarzameen unfolds against the politically volatile backdrop of Kashmir. The story follows Colonel Vijay Menon (Prithviraj Sukumaran), an Indian Army officer stationed in Jammu and Kashmir, whose world turns upside down when he discovers that his long-missing son, Harman (Ibrahim Ali Khan), may have joined a terrorist organisation. As he sets out to uncover the truth, his wife Meher (Kajol) is pulled into a heart-wrenching emotional struggle—where the line between duty to the nation and loyalty to family begins to blur. The film premiered on July 25, 2025, exclusively on JioHotstar. While netizens have hailed Prithiviraj and Kajol's performance, many criticised the movie's weak scripting. Mohanlal embraces his feminine side—in a jewellery ad that redefines masculinity

Instead, the ad focuses on strong visual storytelling, showing Mohanlal gracefully embracing his feminine energy by adorning himself with jewellery. The powerful visuals need no voiceover, no tagline, and no melodrama to make its point. The latest campaign for Vinsmera Jewels breaks away from all the familiar tropes of traditional jewellery ads. There isn't any ideal daughter, blushing bride, proud father or monologues on feminism. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is earning applause on social media for his standout performance in a new jewellery commercial. It's a refreshing shift from the usual gendered storytelling in jewellery advertising. Directed by filmmaker Prakash Varma, the commercial opens on a film set. Amid the hustle and bustle of introductions, Mohanlal slips away with an intricate jewellery set and heads to his vanity van. As the crew begins a search for the missing jewellery, the camera cuts to Mohanlal, who is seen wearing the necklace, rings, and bracelet, paired with a black shirt and trousers. He admires his features in the mirror as traditional music plays in the background. When the director enters Mohanlal's van, shocked, the actor simply bursts into laughter. An unconventional approach The commercial struck a chord with the audiences, who praised Mohanlal for putting up a quiet act of rebellion. The video has clocked over 2.3 million views and over five thousand comments on YouTube. Rather than seeking approval, the plot of the advertisement focuses more on self-acceptance. After all, the biggest battle is not the one we fight against the world, but the one that we fight with ourselves. And that is where the commercial succeeds over traditional jewellery marketing. It stirs emotions instead of delivering monologues, because visuals have a long and lasting impact. It didn't go for the tried and tested backdrops of weddings. Basically, it was totally unconventional and that is what took the audience by surprise. Also, the brand isn't promoting a product in your face. It's simply putting out the thought that beauty isn't about conformity, but about embracing what speaks to your soul, and jewellery is just a medium for it. Why it can also hit his brand Double standards At first glance, the flood of praise under Mohanlal's recent video might make you believe that society is finally embracing the LGBTQ+ community. But scratch the surface, and the reality is anything but progressive. One influencer rightly pointed out the hypocrisy: when a regular creator wears jewellery or dresses femininely, trolls are quick to tear them apart. But when superstar Mohanlal, who is known to be a macho Malayalam actor, does the same, it becomes 'iconic.' To this, internet users were quick to issue clarification stating that they don't celebrate the ad's message, instead they just applaud Mohanlal's acting spectrum. One user wrote, 'He's an actor. He's done mighty masculine roles like Mangalassery Neelakandan. People are praising his range of acting.' While another said, 'I don't know about others, but trust me homie, I hate that f*****g ad and you equally from the bottom of my heart.' These reactions are testament to the fact that we still have a long way to go in embracing fluidity, when it isn't wrapped in stardom. That said, one cannot unsee that the ad has sparked a larger conversation — about beauty, gender, performance, and the weight of public perception. Whether seen for its message, the rebellion, or simply Mohanlal's acting, the commercial dares to ask a quiet question in a noisy world: Who defines beauty and why? And, maybe that is what makes it unforgettable. Not because it shouts, but because it doesn't have to. Brand: Vinsmera Jewels Creatives: In-house Director: Prakash Varma Views are personal.
