Fan favourite Celebs Go Dating star lands huge new show after ‘stepping more into the limelight'

The Sun09-06-2025

AFTER years behind the reception desk at the Celebs Go Dating agency, Tom Read Wilson has now been promoted.
I can reveal he is finally stepping into the spotlight with a show of his own, called The Grand Tour With Tom Read Wilson.
4
The historical travelogue for Channel 5, which is currently in production, will follow a similar format to that of Rylan Clark and Rob Rinder's successful BBC show — which won the twosome a Bafta earlier this year.
So Channel 5 hopes to strike gold with their offering, which comes from the team behind Ross Kemp's documentaries, and Josie Gibson's First Class Travel Show.
A source revealed: 'The success of Rob and Rylan's series has proved that there's a healthy appetite from viewers for smart, entertaining and comedic journeys through history — and now Channel 5 want some of the pie.
'Tom has long been a big fan favourite on Celebs Go Dating, thanks to his dry wit and one- liners, so it makes sense for him to step more into the limelight.
'Famous landmarks'
'This new series, which will see Tom take on a solo presenting role, combines history and culture as he explores famous landmarks and delves into the stories behind these attractions.
'Filming has already begun and fans can expect to tune in later this year.'
Tom first rose to fame as a contestant on ITV singing contest The Voice before finding a home on the E4 dating show.
He also made his debut on Channel 5 last year, as presenter of The Christmas Taste Test, which saw him put brands to the test to uncover the best supermarket festive goodies.
He has featured, too, in BBC cooking show Celebrity Best Home Cook, as a talking head on Channel 5 documentary Aldi Vs Lidl, and on Channel 4 gameshow Darling, What Have You Done To Your Hair?
Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour took home won the Entertainment award at the Baftas last month, after fighting off competition from the likes of Stacey Solomon's Sort Your Life Out and the BBC's Race Across The World.
Tom will now hope that when he hits the road, his Grand Tour will enjoy similar success with viewers.
Christine McGuinness signs up for Celebs Go Dating as we reveal full line-up including pop legends & reality TV icons
THE IT Crowd star Katherine Parkinson is to play Ron Weasley's mum Molly in the Harry Potter HBO TV series.
In further casting, child star Lox Pratt will be Draco Malfoy, and Johnny Flynn his dad Lucius.
Filming will start soon, at London's Warner Bros Studios.
AS series two of queer dating show I Kissed A Boy airs on BBC Three, it's been revealed spin-off I Kissed A Girl will also get a second run.
The girls' show, the first of its kind in the UK, made its debut last year – after 2023's first season of I Kissed A Boy.
It will return later this year with ten singles meeting for the first time with a kiss.
Applications to take part are now open on the BBC Take Part website.
Dannii Minogue, who hosts both the boys' and girls' shows, in TV house the Masseria in Italy, said: 'I Kissed A Girl [series one] was groundbreaking for female representation, and I can't wait for the return.
'Let's see what the Italian sun does for kisses and connections.
'I'm ready to be Cupid – get ready for Masseria mania.'
KITCHEN queen Mary Berry struggled to help Alan Carr cook when he appeared on her BBC series Foolproof Dinners last year – but it's no secret the comic is NO chef.
He proved as much on The Great British Bake Off's Stand Up To Cancer special in 2018 – two years after Mary quit as a judge – when he served up a disastrous tribute cake to children's TV show Rainbow . . . that was rock solid.
4
Now, he has revealed his bake was so bad, that after filming stopped on the Channel 4 show even production crew declined to take a bite, except for one particularly hungry cameraman.
Chatting on his Life's A Beach podcast, with guest Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood, Alan revealed: 'What people don't know is, they leave all the cakes at the back for the cast and crew to tuck in.
'Mine was intact.'
Paul said of show leftovers: 'If I eat it, it all goes and savoury stuff tends to disappear first on set more than the desserts.'
But he said of Alan's creation: 'It was bad.
'I've tried to delete it from my mind.'

MAFS star Laura Vaughan left ‘devastated' by double family tragedy after her father's death

MARRIED At First Sight UK star Laura Vaughan has been left heartbroken following the sudden death of her stepfather after losing her biological dad to cancer. In an emotional statement posted to social media, Laura, 35, revealed her stepdad Rich also died of cancer and said that the loss had left her family 'devastated.' 3 3 'I've sat with this for weeks, not knowing how to find the words,' she wrote on Instagram. 'A few weeks ago, my family lost my stepdad, Rich – very suddenly to cancer. It has left my family devastated.' Laura, who rose to fame on the reality show in 2023, also opened up about feelings of guilt over not being as close to Rich in recent years. She said: 'That's a guilt I will carry with me for the rest of my life and right now, it feels very heavy.' The reality star also reflected on the loss of her father to cancer years earlier, adding: 'Lots of you know that I lost my dad to cancer, the same age as my half-sister is now. 'It feels as though sometimes, life plays out the most painful patterns.' Paying tribute to Rich, she added: 'He came into my life over 20 years ago and brought light and laughter into our family when we really needed it. 'I hope that where you are now, you are at peace and out of pain, and that West Ham are winning every match they play!' Laura ended the post by announcing a temporary break from social media. She said: 'I don't know how to show up online for you guys at the minute and therefore I am going to take a break. 'Sometimes this world feels so painful, so I'm sending an enormous amount of love to anyone struggling.' Laura had a failed love match with tennis coach Arthur Poremba, 38, on MAFS. She recently opened up to The Sun about her own private battle in a heartbreaking interview - after she was forced to make a terrible decision. The TV star underwent a heartbreaking medical abortion after unexpectedly finding out she was almost eight months pregnant. She endured the painful procedure after doctors told her she had been unknowingly putting her unborn foetus at high risk of 'extreme' harm and severe birth defects by taking a powerful drug to treat her acne. The medical abortion in 2016, when she was 26, left Laura struggling to make sense of what had happened. 'It was very difficult because I went from not thinking I was pregnant to being seven months pregnant to then having a very prolonged abortion and where I was so far gone,' she told The Sun in an exclusive interview. 'Then, when I got home from the procedure, my milk came in, which, as you can imagine, was just really hard to deal with. 'I hunkered down at home for weeks and didn't talk to anyone.' Multiple labour attempts Laura initially thought it was 'impossible' when a Clearblue digital pregnancy test revealed she was expecting. And she was even more stunned when doctors told her she was in the third trimester. Although the former finance manager had been suffering from bloating and missed periods, she says she had been told the symptoms were likely caused by a 'ruptured cyst'. She'd gone to see a GP about her symptoms - including bloating and pain in her stomach - but when they looked at her medical records they noticed she'd had a ruptured cyst the year before and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and said that was "likely the cause again". They referred Laura for a scan which she kept forgetting to book. Laura was still able to "squeeze into size 6/8 dresses" while not being aware of her pregnancy, and considered her weight gain to be down to bloating the entire time. She said: "It was literally the week I decided to test that my stomach popped, and I remember thinking 'this isn't right'." Recalling the moment the Clearblue test came up with the phrase '2-3 weeks [pregnant]", Laura, now an influencer, said: 'My first thought was 'that's impossible'... but then I realised that is how the tests display it, so I could've been pregnant for months - and I was.' Clearblue's 'weeks indicator' test is designed to be reliable in the early stages of pregnancy. Laura's shock at her cryptic pregnancy soon turned into an unimaginable ordeal when she learned the strong acne drug she had been taking, isotretinoin, can cause birth defects. Due to the risk of birth defects to her foetus, Laura was offered a medical abortion - and, with a heavy heart, she accepted it. Recalling the hospital procedure itself, she added: 'I went for the abortion and I was meant to be in and out within a day and a half but I ended up being in for nearly a week. 'They could get me to contract but couldn't get me to full labour, and so I was having contractions and then [they were] stopping. "It was agony. It was just so awful for my state of mind, too, going into labour multiple times and then nothing.' Laura, now in a happy and serious relationship, has been put off having children because she 'doesn't want to be reminded of what happened in 2016'. She added: "We spoke about my abortion and he's the first partner I've told about it for a long time. "He's been incredibly supportive, and we have discussed having children but neither of us see children in our future." 3

Wimbledon's most beautiful debutant! First-time qualifier, 24, stuns fans with her model good looks and looks set to wow Court No 1 on the opening day

A Wimbledon debutant is set to wow Court No 1 on Monday as she makes her first appearance at the All-England Club. The player, who is a professional model, was one of the surprises of the qualifying rounds at SW19 as she came through three matches - including a victory against French Open semi-finalist Lois Boisson. She is currently ranked number 197 in the world and will face top seed Aryna Sabalenka having made it through. Carson Branstine has been able to fund herself on the WTA tour thanks to her modelling work. Branstine, 24, has been open about the enjoyment she gets from balancing two professions side-by-side. Per Clay Tenis, she said: 'I love being in front of the camera during a shoot. It's fun, I love fashion. It's been one of the reasons I've been able to pay some of my trips. She beat French Open semi-finalist Lois Boisson to make the main draw at SW19 'I didn't want to ask my parents for anything. I wanted everything to come from me and from my tennis. 'I wasn't signed by these agencies because of my tennis, it was for my look. 'Modelling and tennis are weirdly similar: you are an object a lot, and people sometimes forget you're a person too.' While injuries have hampered her path to the top of the tennis ladder, having spent five years on the sidelines, she could announce herself to the Wimbledon faithful in style with victory over Sabalenka. But she is also wary of the contrast between the slow red clay of the French Open compared to the speedy grass surface awaiting her on Monday. She added: 'We're not in Paris anymore, this is grass, and it's basically a different sport. I have a lot of confidence in myself. 'Maybe not everyone knows who I am, but I believe I can beat anyone. I know my game can stand up to anyone's, and I'm glad I can show that now.' Away from the spotlight of the court and the camera, Branstine has also been a devoted student. Carson has also worked in family law way from the spotlight of the court and the camera She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Society, Ethics, and Law with a double minor in Philosophy and Sports Management. She also assisted a lawyer for a year which saw her attend court and file cases involving family law. While the model has expressed a desire to return to law school in the future, she is also keen to start a family. But for now Carson is focussed on the immediate task at hand of her match against Sabalenka and the chance to announce herself to the tennis world.
