Silver prices also traded steady at Rs 1,03,100 per kilogram (inclusive of all taxes) on Thursday.
The precious metal of 99.5 per cent purity also remained flat at Rs 98,050 per 10 grams (inclusive of all taxes).
New Delhi, Jun 26 (PTI) Gold prices stayed flat at Rs 98,600 per 10 grams in the national capital on Thursday, according to the All India Sarafa Association.
On the global front, spot gold went up marginally to USD 3,334.41 per ounce.
'Gold saw a modest gain on Thursday, buoyed by bargain buyers and a weaker US dollar. The US dollar index fell below 97.0, marking its lowest level since March 2022.
'This decline was triggered by disappointing US economic data, concerns about the country and economic health, and rising speculation about potential rate cuts. Additionally, growing fiscal concerns also weighed on the US dollar while lending support for precious metals,' Saumil Gandhi, Senior Analyst – Commodities at HDFC Securities, said.
Meanwhile, gold traders seem to have digested news regarding a multi-stage ceasefire between Iran and Israel. Attention now shifts to trade deals related developments, and upcoming US economic data, which are expected to influence bullion and US dollar trends in the upcoming days, Gandhi said.
Market participants are closely monitoring US macroeconomic data, including the US GDP, durable goods orders, and initial jobless claims, to gain further insights into the health of the American economy, he added. PTI HG HVA

‘Absolutely bonkers': Canadian influencer shocked after Bengaluru landlord asks Rs 19 lakh deposit for 3 BHK

Bengaluru, also known as the Silicon Valley of India, is notorious for its exorbitant rents. Recently, Canadian tech influencer Caleb Friesen shared his shock on X after a property listing for a 3 BHK apartment required him to pay a Rs 19 lakh deposit. Friesen has lived in India for eight years. The listing for a 3 BHK apartment in the upscale Diamond District, Domlur, showed a monthly rent of Rs 1.75 lakh. But what stunned him was the security deposit of Rs 19.25 lakh. 'Rs 19 lakh for security deposit! Absolutely bonkers what landlords are expecting these days,' Friesen wrote in his now-viral post. 'I could literally buy a new Mahindra Thar for less than this deposit. anyone know of a place in/around Indiranagar with 2-3 months deposit only? rent price range Rs. 80 to 1 lakh,' he wrote on X. Reacting to it, a user wrote, 'You can buy a brand new one for that much in Kolkata and other tier 2 cities,' a user wrote. 'This is why some finfluencers say that buying houses is a waste of money. According to them paying high amounts as interest free security deposit is better than paying EMIs!' another user commented. 'I'd say that you should be prepared to get your hopes quashed with your requirement. House renting is a mafia in this city,' a third user reacted. Friesen left Canada and moved to India in his early 20s as he believed growth is 'unavoidable' in the country. In a post on Instagram, he shared that he lived in Aizawl, Mizoram, for several years and then decided to move to Bengaluru. Anant Ambani to get ₹10-20 cr salary as executive director of Reliance

Anant Ambani, the youngest son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani and the first among three siblings to be appointed Executive Director on flagship Reliance Industries, will be paid ₹10-20 crore salary annually plus a host of perks including a commission on company profits, according to a shareholder notice. While the richest Asian's all three children - twins Akash and Isha, and Anant - were inducted on board of the oil-to-telecom-and-retail conglomerate in 2023 as non-executive directors, the youngest of the three was in April this year appointed Executive Director of Reliance Industries Ltd. As non-executive directors, the three were entitled to no salary and were each paid a sitting fee of Rs 4 lakh in 2023-24 fiscal year and a commission on profit of Rs 97 lakh each. But as an Executive Director, Anant, 30, will be entitled to salary and other prerequisites. Reliance in a stock exchange notice on Sunday said shareholder approval for the appointment has been sought through a postal ballot. The appointments in 2023 were part of a succession planning at India's most valuable company, which many saw as Ambani's attempt to avoid the sibling fued that followed his father's death in 2002. Isha is on the board of Reliance Retail and joined that of the newly spun-off Jio Financial Services, Akash chairs telecoms. Anant is part of the materials and renewable energy ventures. They operate alongside professional managers. In the postal ballot, Reliance said Anant's "salary, perquisites and allowances shall be in the range of Rs 10 crore to Rs 20 crore per annum." "The perquisites and allowances shall include accommodation (furnished or otherwise) or house rent allowance in lieu thereof; house maintenance allowance together with reimbursement of expenses and/or allowances for utilisation of gas, electricity, water, furnishing and repairs and leave travel concession for self and family including dependents," it said. He shall also be entitled to reimbursement of expenses incurred for travelling, boarding and lodging including for his spouse and attendant(s) during business trips and provision of car(s) for use on company's business and communication expenses at residence. He shall also be entitled to medical reimbursement as well as company-arranged security for him and his family members. "In addition to the salary, perquisites and allowances, Anant M. Ambani shall be entitled to receive remuneration based on net profits," the notice said. Mukesh Ambani had in August 2023 announced the induction of his three children on the board of oil-to-telecom conglomerate as non-executive directors, in preparation of an eventual succession plan. This followed his statements that the children would have significant roles at Reliance, India's most valuable and profitable company. Unlike Mukesh Ambani, who had to drop out of Stanford to look after his father's business, twins Isha and Akash graduated from Yale and Brown, respectively. Eldest son Akash joined the leadership team at the group's telecom unit Jio in 2014 after completing college. He was made the chairman of the telecom arm, Jio Infocomm, in June 2022. He also manages the Mumbai Indians cricket team in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. Isha drives the company's retail, e-commerce and luxury businesses. She is said to be behind the firm's expanding presence in fashion through the company's e-commerce app as well as its growing partnerships with top international luxury brands. Anant is involved in Reliance's energy businesses, which range from fossil fuels to developing solar panel manufacturing. A graduate of Brown University, he also serves on the board of Reliance Foundation - the group's philanthropic arm - alongside his mother. All three children are on board of Jio Platforms, the unit that holds telecom and digital properties of Reliance, and Reliance Retail. "Anant M. Ambani serves as a director on the Board of the company and its key subsidiaries Jio Platforms Limited, Reliance Retail Ventures Limited," the Reliance notice said. "He has been a part of the Reliance Group since 2015 and over the last decade he has had exposure to key facets of the oil-to-chemical (O2C) business, including crude sourcing, refinery and downstream unit operations and supply and trading of products." He is responsible for capital projects execution of the company and is closely involved in the planning, execution, and monitoring of ongoing O2C projects in the vinyl chain and speciality polyesters as well as the New Energy Gigafactories. He is also involved in the activities of Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Vantara - an initiative to rescue, protect, and conserve wildlife, the notice said. "The appointment of Shri Anant M. Ambani will be in the interest of the company".

NSEL investors forum seeks Maharashtra CM's help for ₹1,950 cr settlement

The NSEL Investors Forum (NIF) has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, seeking his support for a proposed one-time settlement worth ₹1,950 crore between investors and the National Spot Exchange Ltd (NSEL). This long-awaited settlement aims to bring major relief to thousands of traders whose funds have remained stuck since the NSEL payment crisis of July 2013. In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister on June 19, the forum appealed to the state government to avoid any adverse actions that could hinder the settlement process. It stated that "any decent or negative response from the State/ Competent Authority/ EOW in the NCLT might derail or delay the settlement process." To facilitate a smooth resolution, the forum has requested the state government to designate a senior legal expert with expertise in company law to represent and guide the state's stance before the NCLT. "We humbly urge the Chief Minister to issue necessary directions to relevant authorities and departments to avoid any hasty or negative steps that may derail or delay the proposed settlement," the forum stated. The forum emphasized that after nearly 12 years of chasing various recovery mechanisms, a consensus has finally been achieved between NSEL and its investors. The proposed settlement scheme has been formally submitted under the Companies Act to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Mumbai, marking a major step toward closure for affected traders. As per the settlement plan, a total of Rs 1,950 crore will be distributed among 5,682 traders in proportion to their outstanding dues as of July 31, 2024. The NCLT has already admitted the company petition, with the final hearing scheduled for July 11. NSEL, supported by its parent company 63 moons technologies, filed the Scheme of Settlement before the NCLT to facilitate this one-time, amicable, and full-and-final resolution for the affected traders. The proposal itself originated from the NSEL Investors Forum (NIF), which represents a significant portion of the impacted trading community. This is not the first time NSEL and 63 moons have attempted to offer relief. In August 2013, they disbursed around Rs 179 crore to assist 7,053 smaller traders, each with outstanding amounts of less than Rs 10 lakh.
