Chicago police searching for 2-year-old girl kidnapped by armed group from Bronzeville home
Police said three people armed with guns forced their way into the building and then an apartment unit in the 4800 block of South Michigan Avenue just before 5 a.m.
The group included a woman known to the child and two men, police said. They took the child before stealing a gray Nissan hatchback and other items from the home, and fled with the child in the stolen car.
No Amber Alert has been issued at this time and CPD said the incident appears to be domestic. It is unclear if that determination is why an Ambert Alert has not been issued.
An investigation by Area One detectives is ongoing.

Ghislaine Maxwell joined Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes and celebrity housewife Jen Shah at a federal prison camp in Texas this week. The government hasn't said why they transferred the convicted sex trafficker and confidante to Jeffrey Epstein from a low-security prison in Florida to a less restrictive minimum-security prison near Texas A & M University. The prison is considered one of the top minimum security prisons to serve time in, according to prison consultancy group, for safety, comfort and amenities. The former British socialite, 63, is one of the most powerful prisoners in American history. The transfer comes as Maxwell's attorneys are pressing the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn her conviction while also seeking a pardon or commutation for her from President Donald Trump in exchange for her cooperation in the Epstein investigation and broader sex trafficking matters. Maxwell spent two days last week talking to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche – Trump's former personal defense lawyer – at a courthouse near the Tallahassee prison where she was serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking linked to Epstein. Officials would only confirm that they had transferred Maxwell to the federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas, not why. Typically, prisoners are moved due to a change in supervisory or medical needs or as a security measure to keep an inmate safe, says Donald Murphy, a Bureau of Prisons spokesman. Moving from a low-security to a minimum-security prison typically provides more freedom within the prison. This could mean more free time for recreational activities or work. Minimum-security facilities typically house nonviolent, first-time offenders or those who have worked their way down from a higher-security prison due to good behavior, according to a prison consultant. Ghislaine Maxwell From a life of privilege to prison Maxwell attorney David Oscar Markus told USA TODAY that 'Ghislaine was moved to Bryan, Texas, but we have no other comment' as to why the transfer was made and who requested it. Both facilities are federal prisons. The Texas prison is slightly smaller and holds about 600 women. Low-security prisons typically serve people sentenced to 10 years or less, making Maxwell an exception. Her release date is 2037. In Florida, Maxwell taught yoga and etiquette classes and worked in the library. The Texas facility holds a call center that employs inmates and it partners with Canine Companions for Independence to allow inmates to train dogs to become personal assistance dogs. The prison offers classes such as horticulture and plumbing and cosmetology. The cosmetology may include massage. Maxwell's convictions came from her recruitment of underage girls to give Epstein massages. He then sexually abused them. Holmes, who is serving an 11-year sentence for fraud and conspiracy linked to the collapse of Theranos, earns 31 cents an hour helping soon-to-be released women write résumés and apply for government benefits at the Texas prison camp, according to an article in People magazine. Holmes has been able to keep a mostly vegan diet in prison. Maxwell is also a vegan, and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals lobbied to ensure that she had vegan meals in prison. Bryan Kohberger seen moments after arrest in newly released photo
A newly released picture shows University of Idaho murderer Bryan Kohberger moments after his arrest in the high-profile slayings. Kohberger, a criminology Ph.D. student at Washington State University in Pullman at the time of the November 2022 killings, was at his parents' home in eastern Pennsylvania when he was arrested on the morning of Dec. 30, 2022. It appeared Kohberger was "sorting through garbage, with gloves on, just shortly before the arrest occurred," Idaho State Police Lt. Darren Gilbertson told ABC News. The photo shows the now-convicted killer staring at the camera, wearing black shorts and a hooded sweatshirt with his hands behind his back. "So being able to share that information with the community, I can only imagine that many of us in the community felt the same when we knew that we had him." He described Kohberger as "expressionless," but said the former criminology student liked to "speak to you and teach and enlighten you." "We started with just very general questions about Pullman, about WSU ... he spoke at length about that with us," Gilbertson said. Gilbertson said he eventually told the suspect, "We're here because of the case in Moscow." "As soon as we mentioned that, then he stopped, and he said, 'I don't want to talk anymore.' We asked if he was familiar with it, if he knew anything about Moscow, and he said, no ... and stopped right then and said he wanted an attorney," Gilbertson said. He said police left that interview feeling like they "had their guy." Kohberger was sentenced last week to four life sentences plus 10 years after pleading guilty to all charges in the murders of Kaylee Goncalves, Maddie Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin. The four students were stabbed to death at the girls' home on Nov. 13, 2022. Moscow police said they don't know which victim was the specific target and have not found any link between Kohberger and the victims.

Tesla partly liable in Florida Autopilot trial, jury awards $200M punitive damages
A jury in federal court in Miami has found Tesla partly to blame for a fatal 2019 crash that involved the use of the company's Autopilot driver assistance system. The jury awarded the plaintiffs $200 million in punitive damages, along with 'compensatory damages for pain and suffering,' according to NBC News. Neither the driver of the car nor the Autopilot system braked in time to avoid going through an intersection, where the car struck an SUV and killed a pedestrian. The jury assigned the driver two-thirds of the blame, and attributed one-third to Tesla. (The driver was sued separately.) The verdict comes at the end of a three-week trial over the crash, which killed 20-year-old Naibel Benavides Leon and severely injured her boyfriend Dillon Angulo. It's one of the first major legal decisions about driver assistance technology that has gone against Tesla.
