Disneyland is offering more detail about MrBeast's viral date after YouTube's most popular creator said he paid $500,000 to have the entire theme park to himself.
"Disney won't just hand over their keys to anyone, but for this once-in-a-lifetime date, we were given the entire park for one night," MrBeast, the social media persona of Jimmy Donaldson, says in the video with more than 66 million views.
For the video, Donaldson took this fiancée Thea Booysen on six dates ranging from $1 to $500,000, concluding with what he described as a private evening at Disneyland.
MrBeast's trip was held after hours, park says
MrBeast and his team visited Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California "a couple of weeks ago" for an after-hours experience at the park, a Disney spokesperson told USA TODAY on June 11.
While MrBeast and his crew didn't have to face any lines or crowds, the park didn't change their normal operating hours to accommodate the influencer, either.
Variations of this experience are available to all customers, including Disney After Hours, in which customers can purchase tickets for three extended hours after the park's traditional closing time. The park also offers Disney's Fair Tale Weddings & Honeymoons, which allows couples and their family to rent various venues, including The Sleeping Beauty Castle Forecourt and Small World Mall.
One upcoming after-hours event is Disneyland's "Pride Nite" celebration from June 16-18. You may not get the park to yourself, but the park says guests can expect shorter wait times and special entertainment experiences.
MrBeast's team did not immediately respond for comment when contacted by USA TODAY on June 11.

Can you actually rent out all of Disneyland?
Disney did not specify if it is possible for customers to rent out the entire theme park. However, several Disney-centric blogs like Magic Guides say fans shouldn't get their hopes up about getting the park to themselves for a day.
"Closing down the resort for a day would be a public relations nightmare and would severely disrupt how guests could plan and book their trips," Magic Guides' author Joshua Powell wrote.
One celebrity actually did rent out the park
MrBeast isn't the first and likely won't be the last celebrity to make a solo appearance at Disneyland.
On Feb. 27, 1992, actress Elizabeth Taylor rented out all of Disneyland to celebrate her 60th birthday. The entire park shut down for the birthday bash, which required extra security. Hundreds of celebrities attended the party, a possible marketing win for Disney.

'KPop Demon Hunters' shows a way for Netflix to compete with Disney in family animation
K-pop is taking charts of all types by storm — and Hollywood should take note. Netflix's "KPop Demon Hunters" has ranked in the top two of the streamer's global movie charts in each of the five weeks since its mid-June debut, including back-to-back weeks in the top spot. The animated film about demon-fighting Korean pop singers is, notably, gaining steam instead of slowing down. "KPop Demon Hunters" just had its best week with 25.8 million views, and Netflix said that's the first time one of its original movies has hit a new peak in its fifth week. The movie's popularity propelled one of its original songs, "Golden," to the top of the Billboard Global 200 last week, though it's since slipped to second — replaced by another K-pop hit. "KPop Demon Hunters" is now set to become Netflix's biggest animated original film ever, according to entertainment data provider Greenlight Analytics. "Netflix should absolutely continue pushing forward in the medium," Brandon Katz, the insights and content strategy director at Greenlight Analytics, said of K-pop and family animation. A Netflix spokesperson pointed to the streamer's top-10 list and an accompanying blog post. How K-pop can make Netflix more like Disney Korean shows like " Squid Game" have made waves for Netflix, which responded with a multibillion-dollar investment in the country's content. K-pop is a natural extension of that strategy. It's wildly popular around the world, as the Billboard charts show, making it an ideal fit for a global streamer like Netflix. Disney+ has taken note with a concert and documentary about BTS, one of the biggest K-pop boy bands. "The cultural interest and excitement surrounding K-pop continues to intensify," said Paul Dergarabedian, a media analyst at Comscore. He added: "The undeniable appeal of K-pop should have everyone's attention in the world of entertainment, studios, theaters, and content creators alike." Katz went a step further, venturing that "KPop Demon Hunters" could become the backbone of franchises for Netflix, which "doesn't boast a century-long library of intellectual property like its legacy media rivals," specifically those that are family-friendly. Sing-along franchises, especially those with K-pop, may be the icing on the cake. Netflix could create condensed sing-along versions of the hit songs from "KPop Demon Hunters" to keep its momentum going. "It's the perfect modernization of Disney's long-running emphasis on family-friendly musicals," Katz said. Family matters "KPop Demon Hunters" isn't just a welcome win for Netflix's original film business — it also may be a blueprint for competing with rival Disney in family and animation. Netflix set out to " beat Disney in family animation," cofounder and former CEO Reed Hastings told The Hollywood Reporter in 2021. But despite its best attempts, the streamer hasn't achieved that goal. Although Netflix has had many family animation hits on its platform, they've mostly come from elsewhere. Popular kids series CoComelon generated huge viewership, but the cartoon is going to Disney+ when its Netflix deal ends in 2027. And while theatrical hits like "Minions" and "Despicable Me 4" topped the charts on Netflix, they were licensed from Universal's Illumination. By contrast, "KPop Demon Hunters " is a Netflix original, though it was produced by Sony Animation and not the streamer's in-house team. The streaming giant could keep using these production partnerships while its own team masters the craft. Netflix should make cracking original family films a priority, Dergarabedian said. PG-rated films have outgrossed their PG-13 peers at the box office in 2023, 2024, and 2025, he said, citing Comscore data. That includes blockbusters like Universal's "Super Mario Bros. Movie" and the live-action "How to Train Your Dragon," plus Disney's "Lilo & Stitch." Katz said that "theatrical animation is arguably the best bang for your buck genre in Hollywood" since the pandemic. He said Netflix must nail the family genre, which already accounts for 15% of its global viewership, to keep Gen Alpha kids from going to YouTube. "Establishing an emotional connection with young audiences provides Netflix with a direct path to the next generation of disposable income spenders," Katz said.

Colbert Sees YouTube Resurgence After Cancellation News
The 12-minute monologue "Late Night" host Stephen Colbert delivered after the news of his show's impending end has racked up almost 10 million views on YouTube, making it the most popular video on his channel in six years and underscoring a lack of social media success that could have contributed to the show's surprise cancellation. "The Late Show" with Stephen Colbert during Monday's July 21, 2025 show. CBS via Getty Images On July 21, the opening monologue to Colbert's show—in which he promises 'the gloves are off' in his commentary about President Donald Trump and tells the president to 'go f— yourself'—saw him address the news CBS would cancel 'Late Night' for what they said was 'purely financial' reasons. The video had been watched 9.93 million times as of Friday morning, more than any other on the show's Youtube channel since New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was a guest back in September of 2018. Videos racking up 10-million-plus views were most common for "Late Night" between 2015 and 2018, but the show's YouTube popularity largely peaked then, and has dropped year over year. Until this week, only 10 videos in the last three years had managed to cross the 4 million view mark. Late night TV has been becoming more expensive and less profitable for years—Colbert's show was reportedly losing $40 million per year despite being the top rated of the 11:30 p.m. ET hour—and his was arguably the least likely to make up for the losses with viral videos when compared to peers like NBC's Jimmy Fallon or ABC's Jimmy Kimmel, who focus on pushing out click-happy clips. That's the average viewership for the 12,180 videos the "Late Night" YouTube channel has posted since it was created in 2015 according to Social Blade, which tracks daily stats for creators. Fallon's "The Tonight Show" videos average 1.4 million viewers and 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' averages 1.7 million. Though his social media viewership may lag behind, Colbert's is the highest- rated late night show on broadcast television. "Late Show" averaged 2.4 million viewers for the first half of 2025, USA Today reported citing Nielsen, compared to Kimmel's 1.8 million and Fallon's 1.2 million. All three late night hosts have seen their ratings fall each year. Contra Paramount, CBS' parent company, has said the reason for the cancellation was "purely financial,' but viewers, industry insiders and Colbert himself have speculated political concerns could be lurking in the background. "How could it purely be a financial decision if 'The Late Show' is number one in ratings?' Colbert asked Monday. The host is a staunch critic of Trump, who posted to Truth Social: 'I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings.' The cancellation announcement came shortly after Colbert called out CBS for offering 'a big fat bribe' to Trump, talking about a $16 million payment Paramount said it would make to settle a lawsuit over a '60 Minutes' interview conducted with Kamala Harris during the last election. The settlement was announced at the same time Paramount was seeking approval from the Trump administration for an $8 billion merger with Skydance Media. The FCC greenlit the deal on Thursday, a week after Colbert's show was canceled, after Skydance said it would end diversity, equity and inclusion considerations in hiring, promotions, development and compensation.
