95% people not aware of central schemes in state: Odisha Governor Hari Babu
Addressing a function at the Raj Bhavan on 'Awareness among the people about social security schemes and cyber crime', the Governor said, 'Around 95 per cent people are unaware of the central schemes and their benefits. Not only general public but even government officials at the district level are unaware about the schemes.'
He pointed out that during his visits to various districts for review meetings, he had observed that most government officials failed to respond or give any details regarding central welfare schemes.
Stating that this reflects a serious gap between the common people and the administration, the Governor said it indicates why a majority of people in the state are not availing benefits from central schemes.
Highlighting the importance of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Suraksha Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana, the Governor said these schemes need annual premium ranging from Rs 20 to Rs 436. 'Most of the people can pay the premium but they are missing out because of poor outreach of the administrative apparatus and awareness,' he added.
Kambhampati further underlined that successful implementation of welfare schemes depended on policy formulation along with effective communication and public participation.
Stating that cyber crimes have emerged as a growing challenge, he advised people to remain alert and informed. He further added that since digital platforms are being increasingly used for accessing government schemes and services, there is a need for increased vigilance and digital literacy.

Hyderabad: Minister for Agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao has expressed disappointment over the Union government's provision of inaccurate information regarding urea supply to Telangana in Parliament. He noted that the farmers are becoming perplexed since only 9.80 lakh metric tonnes have been designated for the Kharif season, while the Centre is erroneously claiming that 20.20 lakh metric tonnes of urea are available in the state. Minister Tummala on Saturday sent another letter to Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel, which included details about the fertilizer allocation for the Telangana state from the Union Chemicals and Fertilizers department. The letter highlighted that merely 9.80 lakh metric tonnes were allocated for Kharif 2025, and even from this figure, the supply has been insufficient to meet the monthly demand, resulting in a urea shortage in Telangana. The Minister reminded that while an allocation of 6.60 lakh metric tonnes was designated for supply from April to July, the Centre only delivered 4.36 lakh metric tonnes, causing challenges for farmers in the state. He pointed out that this issue is not limited to Telangana; it is also affecting Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh States. In addition, the letter mentioned that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has addressed the shortage of urea in correspondence with Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, JP Nadda. In his letter, Tummala Nageswara Rao emphasised that providing inaccurate figures, even in parliamentary discussions, could negatively impact the states. He urged that immediate action be taken to ensure the urea allocated for August is supplied promptly, including the 2.24 lakh metric tonnes that were not provided as planned through July.

Naidu launches Annadatha Sukhibhava
Darsi: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu launched the PM Kisan-Annadatha Sukhibhava scheme, part of the Super Six welfare initiatives, in a symbolic ceremony held amidst verdant fields in East Veerayapalem village of Darsi mandal in Prakasam district on Saturday. Launching the Rs 3,175 crore statewide initiative, the Chief Minister handed over a cheque to two farmers as a symbolic gesture and another Rs 29 crore cheque specific to Darsi constituency, according to a video link shared by the government. "No other thing gives me this much happiness. Sitting in a field under the sun we transferred Rs 7,000, including central funds. This is history," said Naidu, addressing farmers in the middle of a field. After the conclusion of the live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech from Varanasi at the launch of the PM Kisan programme at the national level, Chandrababu Naidu interacted with farmers, women, youth, and locals at the launch of Annadatha Sukhibhava-PM Kisan programme. He mentioned that the scheme marked the fulfillment of the coalition government's election promise to provide Rs 20,000 annually to farmers in three installments. Clubbing the Centre's contribution of Rs 6,000 under PM-Kisan and the state's contribution of Rs 14,000, Andhra Pradesh aims to disburse Rs 20,000 per annum to eligible farmers under the Annadatha Sukhibhava-PM Kisan scheme in three installments. The Chief Minister said that in the first phase, Rs 7,000 was being transferred to the bank accounts of 46,85,838 farmers across the state. He explained that the benefit includes Rs 5,000 as the state's contribution and Rs 2,000 from the central government under the PM Kisan scheme. He said that the total outlay for this phase amounted to Rs 3,175 crore, with the state government allocating Rs 2,343 crores and the Centre contributing Rs 832 crore. For Prakasam district alone, Rs 186 crore had been earmarked, benefiting 2,65,317 farmers, while the Darsi Assembly constituency would receive Rs 29 crore towards 42,786 beneficiary farmers, with Darsi mandal getting Rs 7.36 crore towards 10,972 farmers. Chandrababu Naidu observed that he could see pervasive happiness among farmers and remarked: 'The farmer is always a king.' The Chief Minister announced plans to provide technological knowledge to farmers, including crop advisory services based on scientific studies. Soon, farmers could access scheme-related information through the Annadatha Sukhibhava portal or by calling the toll-free number 155251. Chandrababu Naidu highlighted significant achievements in agricultural modernization, while appreciating that Andhra Pradesh ranked first nationally in drip irrigation coverage. He amplified that the government had expanded drip irrigation to 1,17,880 hectares, benefiting 1.11 lakh farmers with subsidies ranging from 70 per cent to 100 per cent, based on region and caste categories. The Chief Minister told farmers that the government had introduced 875 Kisan drones for agricultural services and had plans to procure an additional 1,000 drones. He explained to them that market interventions had ensured remunerative prices for various crops, with the government paying Rs 273 crore for tobacco, Rs 172 crore for mango farmers, while fixing Rs 11,781 per quintal as the minimum selling price for chillies. Referring to the sudden spike in American taxes on Indian merchandise, Naidu said these duties would hurt aquaculture farmers and promised to chart out an action plan on how to deal with this matter after meeting with aquaculture representatives in a few days. Stating that the US had hiked duties by 25 per cent, Naidu said this would affect Indian farmers. Considering these factors, the CM said, he would guide farmers on what crop to plant and how to go further.

Indiramma houses being constructed as planned: ponguleti
Hyderabad: Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said that the construction of Indiramma houses in the State is proceeding as planned, without relying on any assistance from the Centre. In a conversation with the media persons at the Secretariat on Saturday, the Minister said despite the challenging financial condition of the State, the government is giving top priority to the construction of Indiramma houses. He said unlike the Centre, which was offering Rs 72,000 for each house in rural areas and Rs 1.52 lakh in urban areas, would not support the housing costs. But the State government's Rs 5 lakh in the first phase is helping the poor. He said that a survey has also been conducted as per the instructions of the Centre and this is in the final stage. In fact, the state government's norms for identifying the beneficiary were stricter, when compared to that of the Centre's. He expressed satisfaction that the construction work of the houses is also progressing at the expected pace. He said that the previous government had constructed double bedroom houses unscientifically and many housing units were incomplete and did not even have minimum facilities. All these houses will be repaired and facilities will be created and allocated to the beneficiaries.
