EA FC 26 Ultimate Edition cover star leaked as new FUT Icon set to feature

Daily Mirror08-07-2025
Another EA FC 26 detail has been leaked, leaving very little for EA Sports to exclusively reveal later this month.
Just a few weeks after the EA FC 26 cover star was leaked, leakers have now revealed who will feature on the EA FC 26 Ultimate Edition cover.
The EA FC 26 leaks aren't stopping, with more and more being revealed on social media about the newest EA Sports FC instalment before any official EA Sports announcements. From pre-order bonuses to new gameplay features, a bunch of EA FC 26 information is out there to be seen, and now, it seems we know who will feature on the EA FC 26 Ultimate Edition cover.

Leakers revealed that EA FC 25 cover star Jude Bellingham will remain on the cover for EA FC 26, but as always, two versions of EA FC 26 are being released, the Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition, meaning we will get two different covers. For EA FC 25, a new Icon, Gianluigi Buffon, was included on the Ultimate Edition cover, and according to leaks, EA is going to do the same once again for EA FC 26.

EA FC 26 Ultimate Edition cover star leaked
Reliable leaker @Fut_Scoreboard has revealed in a Tweet who the new EA FC 26 Ultimate Edition cover star will be, with Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic set to feature on the front of the game. If you haven't been paying attention to EA FC 26 leaks, you may be a little confused. Well, leakers revealed last month all the new Icons coming to EA FC 26 Ultimate Team, and Ibrahimovic was one of them.
Throughout his illustrious playing career, Ibrahimovic was never on the cover of any of EA's FIFA games, so if the leaks are true, this would be the Swede's debut on the front of an EA football game. This also may come as a slight shock to some, because not too long ago, Ibrahimovic was involved in a public disagreement with EA.
Back in 2020, Ibrahimovic accused EA and FIFPro in a Tweet of using his name and face without permission. The truth about what happened, and the remarks made by Ibrahimovic, had more to do with FIFPro and their backing of agent reforms, with the Swede's agent at the time - the late Mino Raiola - against the reform proposals.
But, it seems the dust has settled and Ibrahimovic is back on good terms with EA, especially if he's happy enough for his image to now be used not only in the game, but on the cover itself!

Liverpool transfer news: Reds get Alexander Isak boost as key star moves closer to exit

Liverpool may have signed Hugo Ekitike last week but the Premier League champions are still in the running to sign Alexander Isak amid talk the Newcastle star could move this summer Liverpool have already made some big moves in the transfer market this summer, but Arne Slot and Co are not done yet if recent noises anything to go by. ‌ Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike have all been signed up to bolster a squad which won the Premier League title last term. And more incomings are expected between now and the transfer deadline. ‌ The Reds are understood to be keen on signing a centre back after selling Jarrel Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer. ‌ And speculation linking Liverpool with a British record £150million transfer for Alexander Isak simply refuses to go away. Isak boost Eddie Howe has confirmed that there is "no chance" that Arsenal target Alexander Isak will join Newcastle on their pre-season tour of the Far East amid the current speculation over the striker's future. The Swede, 25, has been heavily linked with Liverpool this summer and it emerged last week that he would not be joining Newcastle overseas, with the player keen to explore his options. Speaking after Sunday's 3-2 loss to Newcastle in Singapore, Howe was asked whether the club's star striker would be heading out to join them and replied: 'No, no chance,' indicating that a parting of the ways could indeed be on the cards. Mega deal agreed ‌ Liverpool have agreed a deal in principle with Bayern Munich for the transfer of Luis Diaz. The Colombia winger, 28, has been linked with a move overseas in recent weeks and also had interest from Barcelona. It has also been noted that Diaz is keen on the idea of moving clubs this summer, though Liverpool were reluctant to sell. But The Guardian say Diaz is now close to leaving Liverpool after Bayern lodged a £70m bid for the attacker, who was left out of the team that lost 4-2 to AC Milan on Saturday. ‌ Fofana in Everton talks Liverpool-linked Malick Fofana is now in talks to join Everton from Lyon this summer. The Reds and other of the Premier League's top clubs have been credited with an interest the uber talented winger, who has scored 15 goals in 62 games for Lyon. The Athletic have confirmed that Everton and Lyon are in talks over a package for the 20-year-old with the Toffees also in contact with the player's camp to try and reach an agreement for a transfer. Games Inbox: Is there a secret Nintendo Switch 2 Christmas game?

The Monday letters page thinks Battlefield 6 could be a big hit this autumn, as one reader hopes Final Fantasy 17 will be more like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. To join in with the discussions yourself email gamecentral@ Summer to winter I see there's still a lot of talk about whether Nintendo has a 'secret' new Switch 2 game for this Christmas but I will be absolutely shocked if they do. We're probably getting a Nintendo Direct this week, that I can believe, but what are people expecting? Animal Crossing or a new Mario? I don't see it. The new Mario is never going to come out straight after Donkey Kong, it's much more likely going to be left for the new movie next year. And while they might tease Animal Crossing, they're not going to release it this year, no way. Why not? Because normal people don't buy new video game consoles in the middle of the summer. Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are Nintendo's big Christmas games. They may not be secrets, but they are just about the most mass market games they have and they don't even need anything else, especially not with Metroid Prime 4 and Pokémon Legends out this year. There might be some small game or port or something like that, but I am certain there won't be any more big new games until next year. Taylor Moon In the wings I think people are underestimating Battlefield 6 a bit. Battlefield was huge up until Battlefield 4 and if EA hadn't messed up it could have overtaken Call Of Duty as everyone's favourite military shooter. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. I don't know if Call Of Duty is in too deep now but you don't have to overthrow it to still be a massive hit. I like what I'm hearing about Battlefield 6 so far and I think it could be massive. Although it does depend what this year's Call Of Duty will be like, but if it's a dud then EA are right there able to take advantage of Activision's mistake. Lotto Pre-word of mouth Would just like to agree with the Reader's Feature about Star Wars Outlaws. It's a really great game and I feel it was victim to everyone assuming it would be bad and never bothering to find out whether it was or not. This sort of thing happens a lot, it seems to me, where a game (or movie) is killed by online word of mouth before anyone has actually played it. I'm not saying the game is an all-time classic but as only a moderate Star Wars fan I had a lot of fun with it and agree it's Ubisoft's best open world game in a long time. There're some neat little improvements to the formula going on and I can only hope they at least make it into other non-Star Wars games. I would absolutely recommend it, especially if you can find it cheap. Lomas Email your comments to: gamecentral@ Survival plan Survival crafting games aren't my usual fair but when there's a neat setting at the centre I've been drawn in and not been disappointed, having thought both Subnautica and Grounded were fantastic. Abiotic Factor's full release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC has just been made known to me as it's been added day one (for the 1.0 release) on both Game Pass and PS Plus Extra. The setting looks like my cup of tea and the mentions of Half-Life when reading up about it have pretty much put it to the top of my list for next game. Shame it comes out a week or so before Grounded 2 early access. I had intended to play that, but I really want to give Abiotic Factor a play so will probably wait for Grounded 2 1.0 to play that game. It's for one to six players. I'll probably play it solo but as is increasingly happening due to barriers between Sony and Microsoft being lowered its cross play, so don't have to worry about starting it on PlayStation (my preferred choice) and not being able to play with my Xbox owning family members. Simundo Budget limitations I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that keeps hoping a new Nintendo Direct will see a new Castlevania annoucement. There's no reason to hope for it except that it seems impossible that it won't happen at some point… but it never does. I understand that finding a developer for it is a difficult, but if MercurySteam aren't available there are plenty of other indie developers that I'm sure would do a good job of it. The main problem is whether Konami is willing to put up the budget to make a good one. Even the best developer can only work with the limits they've got and you have to go back to the PS1 era to find a Castlevania with a decent sized budget. Ingot Fightin' IP I notice there's a lot of licensed beat 'em-ups and fighting games around at the moment, from that Invincible game to a new Marvel fighter and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Marvel scrolling beat 'em-ups. I approve of all of this, but I don't particularly like any of the franchises that are getting turned into the games. I'm curious what other people would like to see made into these type of games? I'm sure GC would be happy to see a Transformers game, which I feel could work as either, but somehow that's never been done before. A one-on-one fighter seems like it would be a no-brainer, considering everyone has their own special abilities and weapons and transformations. Or how about a Lord of the Rings beat 'em-up? I really liked the ones EA did when the movies first came out and I'd love something that was able to be a little more tongue in cheek with the franchise. I think the Tolkien family stop that from happening but that'd be my wish, and they did allow the Lego game. Or maybe a Roger Rabbit beat 'em-up? Something that had all sorts of old school animated cartoon characters in it, from Disney, Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and so on. I bet companies would love to make those characters relevant again and I'd love to see that kind of thing. I'm going to stop now because I'm already upset that these things are never going to happen. Gable GC: There was a Beast Wars fighting game, but it was rubbish. Modern experiment I like the idea of CD Projekt making a beat 'em-up style game specifically because they're not very good at melee combat usually. I don't know if that'll end up being true, but it seems like a good idea. Considering they've done fantasy and sci-fi so far, I'd like to see them do something set in the current day too, as a change. The longer games take to make the less chance developers have to try new things, because they're always forced to go back to make sequels. Hopefully CD Projekt have enough money and feel this game would be a good experience that will help their others as well. Tyremate Expedition 34 I can't believe we're looking at the possibility where the people that made Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 really might be working on, or at least advising on, Final Fantasy 17. I am 100% behind them being involved but it seems incredible that Square Enix is so out of ideas that they need to rely on someone else that was already paying homage to their games. In case you haven't heard, the developer went and met with Square Enix for an exchange of ideas, or something like that, but it's pretty obvious what they were talking about. At a minimum they must've been discussing the idea of them working on some kind of spin-off but I'm certain the question of Final Fantasy 17 came up as well. I don't think anything has leaked out about it so far, so it can't be very far along, but I would absolutely love to see something that was more in line with the pre-Final Fantasy 7 games. Something turn-based and with a traditional fantasy setting, not sci-fi or the boring Game of Thrones knock-off that was the last game. Who knows how likely it is, but I feel there's now a real chance that Final Fantasy can be exciting again, and not ashamed of its own history. Egon Inbox also-rans Never mind Mario and Peach, what's the deal with Luigi and Daisy? I know her as Luigi's girlfriend but I don't actually remember any games where they're both in it, other than sports ones. Choser GC: We think it might have happened in a Japanese manga or something. We don't recall any game that makes it clear they have a relationship. Never mind Star Wars Outlaws 2, where is the third Star Wars Jedi game? Are we going to have to wait till next Star Wars Day for it to be announced? I think probably. Arsenal 3 Newcastle 2: Martin Odegaard's late penalty makes amends for nightmare start as Arteta suffers injury scare

Arsenal were forced to come from behind against the Toon after new-boy Anthony Elanga netted after just six minutes, scoring twice in two minutes through Mikel Merino and an Alex Murphy own goal. Jacob Murphy levelled for Eddie Howe's men only for Martin Odegaard to seal the win from the penalty spot – won by an amazing dribble from 15-year-old Max Dowman. The buzz before kick-off around finally getting a glimpse of Gyokeres in the flesh wearing the red and white of Arsenal left the match itself as a bit of an afterthought. READ MORE IN football 'I've seen enough' Arsenal fans demand Kepa replaces Raya after early defensive howler And when the Swede emerged from the dressing room 15 minutes before kick-off, captured on the big screens strolling down the tunnel applauded by bemused young mascots, the reaction inside the Singapore National Stadium – with nearly 40,000 in attendance – was surreal. It was as if a pop star had just stepped onto the stage for the first night of their global tour. Forget the Swifties – the Gyokies are something else with their trademark mask pose. It is hard to think of an Arsenal signing in recent times that has garnered this much attention and fanfare, not to mention one who has been unveiled and paraded thousands of miles away from home before an important pre-season game. Gyokeres – known for his cool and calculated killer instinct, unflappable in the big moments – could not help but crack an awkward smile as he walked around the pitch and applauded the crazed Singapore locals before posing for photos and throwing t-shirts into the stands. 10 Anthony Elanga put Newcastle in the lead Credit: Reuters 10 It was his first goal in Newcastle colours Credit: Getty You could not blame him for just wanting a bit of downtime away from the spotlight having flown into Singapore on Saturday after rushing through his medical in North London. But if he hadn't figured out already he is Arsenal's new hope with the weight of their season on his mighty shoulders, he has now. 10 Mikel Merino levelled for Arsenal Credit: Getty 10 Bukayo Saka shoots past Alex Murphy Credit: Getty When the main event was over, a game of football kicked off. Arteta went strong, just like he had done in their 1-0 win against AC Milan on Wednesday. Havertz led the line and Ethan Nwaneri got another chance to impress in midfield in place of Odegaard while Calafiori partnered William Saliba in defence again with new boy Cristhian Mosquera not yet ready to make the squad. It was a poor start for the Gunners with Toon's £55m signing Elanga scuffing a sixth-minute effort in off the post from a cut-back cross that had Saliba and Calafiori marking the same man. And with their new No.14 sat watching in the stands, Arsenal were wasteful with their own chances. Havertz mistimed a free header in the box and Calafiori's low delivery was begging to be tucked away but failed to find a willing runner. Leandro Trossard came close to being subbed off, signalled to do so by Arteta after going down twice in as many minutes, yet managed to carry on. This had the feel of a spicy Prem game, especially between two sides who have developed a real hate-hate relationship over the years. 10 Saka and Ethan Nwaneri celebrate an own-goal scored by Alex Murphy Credit: Getty 10 Jacob Murphy made it 2-2 Credit: Getty Myles Lewis-Skelly was wrestled to the floor by Jamaal Lascelles at a corner and Bukayo Saka went down clutching his face after a collision with Sandro Tonali, one that left Arteta raging down the touchline with play allowed to continue. But he was not angry for very long as Arsenal were in front with two quickfire goals, the first in the 33rd minute as Merino slotted into the bottom corner, teed up by Havertz. And the German was alert again to a quickly-taken free-kick that put him away down the left – his whipped ball across goal thumped into his own net by Murphy in the 35th minute. On his first start for the club, Martin Zubimendi was brilliant, dictating the play, and showing he could also do the ugly work too, picking up a yellow card just before the break for a cynical counter-stopping foul on Anthony Gordon. Howe made nine changes for the second half while Arteta made just the one – bringing on skipper Odegaard for Nwaneri, but was forced into another as Calafiori limped off with a worrying left leg issue given his injury woes last season, replaced by Jakub Kiwior. Saka came close with an acrobatic effort before Jacob Murphy's deflected long-range thump wriggled its way past David Raya. Arteta switched things up after that with Raya off for Kepa Arrizabalaga while Havertz and Saka were brought off for Max Dowman and Gabriel Martinelli. Teenager Dowman has seriously impressed during his cameos so far, brilliantly cutting in from the right wing here and forcing Nick Pope and then the subbed-on John Ruddy into diving saves. And then, in the 82nd minute, a sublime spin and footwork off the flank saw him glide into the box and win the penalty that Odegaard duly converted. 10 Martin Odegaard won the game Credit: Getty
