Miami Still in Play for No. 1 WR in 2026 Class Despite LSU Commitment
Miami Still in Play for No. 1 WR in 2026 Class Despite LSU Commitment originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Miami Hurricanes are quietly gaining steam in their pursuit of the nation's top wide receiver in the 2026 class. Five-star standout Tristen Keys, currently committed to LSU, just wrapped up a pivotal official visit to Coral Gables, and the buzz coming out of that trip suggests Miami could be positioning itself for a flip.

Keys, a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, is the crown jewel of LSU's 2026 recruiting class and widely regarded as the No. 1 wide receiver in the nation. He made headlines earlier this cycle with a surprise commitment to the Tigers. At the time, many believed programs like Miami held the edge in his recruitment, but LSU managed to secure a pledge earlier than most expected. Now, the Hurricanes are looking to turn the tide back in their favor.
According to several insiders, Keys came away from his visit to Miami seriously impressed with the direction of the program under Mario Cristobal. Sources close to the situation indicate that the Hurricanes made a significant impression both on and off the field, highlighting their offensive vision, NIL opportunities, and player development track record at the wide receiver position. Miami's pitch seems to have resonated.
This is the second visit to Miami by Keys in just a month. This latest visit has reopened the door to a recruitment that once looked locked down. Keys himself reportedly hinted that he still has a decision to make, a statement that should raise eyebrows in Baton Rouge. While LSU anticipated that Keys would explore his options with official visits, the level of uncertainty surrounding his commitment has increased following his time in South Florida.

As Miami continues to host top-tier talent and build momentum on the recruiting trail, the situation with Tristen Keys bears close watching. A flip from LSU would be a massive statement for the Hurricanes and a potential cornerstone for their 2026 class. With more official visits ahead, nothing is final, but Miami is making this recruitment far more interesting than LSU would like to see.

Kansas City Chiefs OL Trey Smith reflects on health issues before the 2021 NFL Draft
During the latest episode of New Heights, Travis Kelce and his brother Jason welcomed Kansas City Chiefs offensive guard Trey Smith. The Pro Bowl offensive lineman opened up about his battle with blood clots at Tennessee. "One week in conditioning, we were doing half-gassers, and I passed out. I had never passed out. I couldn't breathe well," said Smith, "I lost 13 pounds in a day. I remember talking to our team doctor, 'Hey, you guys gotta run more tests on me; I feel terrible. And he's like, 'We're gonna do a blood draw, just go ahead and go to class." Advertisement After starting at left tackle during his sophomore season, Tennessee's medical staff discovered blood clots in Smith's lungs and ruled him out indefinitely. The issue was identified in February 2018, before the start of spring practice. "They rush me to the hospital and figure out that I have blood clots in both sides of my lungs," said Smith, "So that was sort of one of those moments where it's like, man, can I still play football? Like, what does this mean? And pretty much, I was working with the doctors for five months. (I had to go on) blood thinners." Smith started all ten games in his last collegiate season, earning first-team All-SEC honors for the Volunteers. "So it was a crazy experience. But in my junior year, I was able to play the entire season. Decided to stay at Tennessee, "said Smith, "I made a promise to my deceased mom, Dorsetta Smith, that I would get my degree and play in the NFL one day. So I kept my promise." Anthony Richardson talks Florida playoff chances, DJ Lagway while in Gainesville
Former Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson sees his alma mater making some noise in the 2025-26 College Football Playoffs with DJ Lagway leading the program. Richardson, a third-year starter for the Indianapolis Colts, was back in Gainesville last weekend for his Read Like a Gator initiative with the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida. Children aged 6 to 16 participated in a free football skills academy featuring Richardson, as well as other NFL players and a handful of Florida Gators players. While he was there to help with the community event, Richardson naturally took time to comment on the program he's followed since he was a kid in Gainesville. "I'm actually looking forward to them running the playoffs this year," Richardson said of Florida. "So, I feel like they're gonna turn it around. It only takes a matter of time and the right plays a game, so, I trust in (Napier) and I believe in him." Richardson was there for the first year of the Billy Napier era in Gainesville and can't help but feel proud of his former coach for weathering the storm and ending Year 3 with one of the hottest teams in the country. "He's always been focused on winning," he said. "Whether that's having those rough couple of years, especially the first year when I was there, we were looking forward to having something better than what we produced. But he's been sticking through it, sticking through all the fire, and last year they had a pretty good season. Anthony Richardson weighs in on DJ Lagway Like most of the college football world, Richardson is high on Florida quarterback DJ Lagway. While it's natural to support someone a generation down the line of succession, Richardson had some genuine praise for the sophomore's big arm. "He's a great player, "Richardson said of Lagway. "I like watching him ball ... I don't really bother him too much because he's already doing great things … He's young right now, but you can't really tell. He doesn't act his age at all. He's a phenomenal leader and I've never seen him really get too high or too low on himself, he's always trying to work. He's always asking me questions about how to get better and do certain things, and I always tell him, 'Man, just keep doing you and just keep working. Everything's going to take care of itself.'" Richardson also conceded that Lagway might already have as strong an arm as him.
