Dubai: 149 million from 118 countries benefit from humanitarian initiatives in 2024

Around 149 million people across 118 countries have benefited from the numerous humanitarian initiatives of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) in 2024, it was announced on Tuesday.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, who chaired a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives at the Dubai World Trade Centre, said that the Foundation's total expenditure reached Dh2.2 billion across various humanitarian, health, education, and community sectors.
It represented a Dh400-million increase from 2023.
Sheikh Mohammed also met with the humanitarian team during the event, consisting of 975 employees. He noted that MBRGI's initiatives are supported by over 170,000 volunteers across all programmes.
"As we mark the anniversary of Humanitarian Work Day, which coincides with the passing of the founder of giving in the UAE, Zayed — may God rest his soul — we reaffirm that our humanitarian efforts continue unabated, and the UAE's hand of generosity remains extended to all people," Sheikh Mohammed said in a post on X.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) was established in 2015, combining under its umbrella over 30 humanitarian and developmental initiatives and entities, most of which have been launched and supported by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for more than 20 years.
The Foundation's humanitarian, social and development initiatives and entities are primarily devoted to supporting and empowering vulnerable and disadvantaged communities around the world.
The MBRGI is the largest regional foundation in terms of the number of institutional initiatives that lead wide-reaching programmes and projects on a global scale.
Besides major time-bound humanitarian aid and relief operations, the MBRGI entities and initiatives also support vital societal sectors and develop practical and innovative solutions to address cultural, knowledge, economic, social, health, environment and humanitarian challenges in the region and the world.

She highlighted key initiatives such as 'Hewi Dubai' and the 'Community Development Fund', as well as partnerships that have led to employment for over 3,800 people. Dubai: The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Arab Publishers' Association (APA) in Egypt to promote knowledge dissemination, reinforce publishing and distribution networks, and support industry creators through strategic support and innovative opportunities. The MoU was signed at MBRF's headquarters by His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, and Mohamed Rashad, President of APA, to establish a strategic partnership and reinforce collaborative frameworks in the fields of publishing, printing, and training. As part of the agreement, both parties will actively collaborate in key areas, including translation rights management, intellectual property exchange, and printing.
