One festival goer told The Sun: "The opening ceremony started 10 minutes late, there was a huge choir on stage that no one could hear.
"All we could hear was the sound of a couple of drums.
"It was a massive fireworks display with no music, the whole silence lasted 30 minutes."
And their comments were echoed by fellow visitors, one fuming reveller penned on X: "Not good from a sound standpoint. I think you have let the performers down here to say the least."
"Sack the sound guy," wrote another.
A third agreed: "Is there meant to be no sound at the #Glastonbury2025 opening ceremony? Local regs? Crowds a bit restless at the back."
"Where's the sound? Kicked out of Greenpeace for crowds. No sound and lost audience at opening ceremony. Get it together," posted someone else.
One fuming ticket-holder slammed: "No sound. Can't hear anything. Underwhelming."
The Sun contacted Glastonbury for comment.
It comes as thousands arrived to set up camp for the first day of Glastonbury today.

But revellers at the festival in Worthy Farm, Somerset, faced a drenching - after the Met Office forecast rain and thunderstorms.
However, temperatures are set to soar by the weekend, with highs of 30C.
Although it could be a messy start to the festival, with its 1,500 acres of farmland turning into a mud bath in previous years.
While the festival is best known for its music, revellers can enjoy the range of stalls, set up their tents and explore the grounds in the meantime before the main performances kick off on Friday.
Opening headliner The 1975 take to the stage at 10pm, while acts such as Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts, Charli XCX, and Doechii will perform on Saturday.

Sunday is due to see Rod Stewart gracing his fans - with Lewis Capaldi also set to make a sensational return to music.
The singer will be dropping his comeback single at the festival.
The release, Lewis' first since he put out Strangers and A Cure For Minds Unwell in January last year, coincides with his secret set on the Pyramid Stage at Glasto.
As the gates to Worthy Farm opened to let the first of this year's revellers through, a source said: 'Lewis took a decent chunk of time away and now he's ready for his fans to hear what he has been working on.
'Tomorrow is a huge day for him. He will be releasing a brand new single and it is his Pyramid Stage performance. He is in a great place and feels ready to come back into the spotlight.'
Lewis' last performance at Glastonbury on that very stage in 2023 ended in tears, with the Someone You Loved star breaking down before cutting the set short.
However, Amyle and the Sniffers' upcoming set is still hanging in the balance after illness swept through the band and their team.
The Aussie rockers were forced to cancel their Vienna gig on Monday after two band members and a crew member came down with 'a very nasty virus".
And it comes just days before they're due to hit the stage at Worthy Farm.
Meanwhile, a huge US popstar has hinted that they're the secret act 'Patchwork' at the festival.
Ever since organisers revealed the full line-up and stage times for Glasto, revellers have been trying to work out who the mysterious act is.
At the beginning of the month, Glastonbury organisers shared the complete schedule.
However, there are still several 'TBA' slots that hint at secret sets on the Pyramid Stage and beyond.
Now fans have a brand new theory about who could make a surprise appearance at the legendary festival.
On the 2025 Glastonbury schedule, the Saturday 6.15pm slot has a mysterious act called "Patchwork" pencilled in, and fans have been trying to work out what it means.
Now fans are convinced that Chappell Roan is "Patchwork" after she posted a telling clue on Instagram.
It came after the Pink Pony Club star shared a picture of herself holding a patchwork quilt, and wrote next to it: "Insane vibe."

EXCLUSIVE Douglas Murray: Only an October 7th-style attack against a Western country would wake up the pro-Hamas mob at Glastonbury to the existential threat Israel faces
Douglas Murray launched a scathing attack on Glastonbury artists and festival-goers, branding their pro-Hamas stance a dangerous 'fetish' on the Mail's Apocalypse Now podcast. Speaking to special correspondent David Patrikarakos, the bestselling author and broadcaster drew a sobering parallel between the music event and Hamas 's attacks on the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023. Mr Murray argued that only by witnessing a similar terror attack on young Westerners would Glastonbury's 'moral reprobates' finally grasp the threat Hamas poses and Israel 's existential struggle. This year's Glastonbury courted controversy when punk-rap duo Bob Vylan led a televised crowd in chants of 'death to the IDF' – sparking a police investigation and condemnation from Prime Minister Keir Starmer. 'The festival at Glastonbury has long been a sordid and immoral affair', Murray said. 'There's always support for anyone who displays a hatred of the West. It is a shame because I think music should be a non-political place. 'The fact that somebody can get a crowd to chant death to the IDF is morally despicable. We all know what that really means. This year's Glastonbury courted controversy when punk-rap duo Bob Vylan led a televised crowd in chants of 'death to the IDF' 'The IDF is a citizen army, and Israel is the only Jewish state in the world. It means they're wishing death upon thousands of brave, young men and women who fight for their country and the survival of their people.' The Spectator columnist highlighted Bob Vylan's other chant - 'you want your country back, f*** that' – labelling it hypocritical from supporters of a supposedly anti-colonialist cause. The author argued: 'This is a man who is saying that he's against colonisation – but has expressed a desire to colonise my country, Britain. 'He expressed that desire while morons are flying Palestinian flags – presumably because they too are interested in the indigenous rights of the Palestinians. 'Well maybe the indigenous rights of the British people are worth protecting too. But they don't care about that because the standard only applies if it's anti-Western, anti us, in favour of literally anyone else.' According to Mr Murray, this naive 'anti-western cult', spawned by modern social justice movements, has chosen Palestine as its 'great fetish'. The bestselling author first tackled this anti-Western ideology in his 2022 book, The War on the West. His latest work, On Democracies and Death Cults, explores how these worldviews have shaped the Israel-Hamas conflict. 'The great fetish of these people's lives is the Palestinian people', Murray told the podcast. 'But what exactly do they think will happen if their pet fetish is ever allowed to win? 'The best-case scenario would be another Arab state in the region – which would be no more successful than say, Jordan. 'Palestine would likely be another outpost of the Mullahs, as long as they're still in power in Tehran. You'd just have yet another failed Arab state. 'You won't get an outbreak of world peace and love, as these people seem to believe. It's as if were Palestine to get a state, something magical would happen. 'Suddenly this unicorn would arrive and rights would be given to people all around the world, and trans people would be freed and there would be no more racism and injustice.' Exasperated, the cultural critic concluded his attack on the festival by issuing a grave warning. 'One wishes to resist the nastiest urges but… maybe the only thing that would ever wake up these moral reprobates at Glastonbury is if something like what happened at the Nova music festival happened to them or one of their friends. 'Not more than 18 months ago, a music festival like Glastonbury had hundreds of Hamas terrorists come into it. 'I heard first-hand how women were gang raped, shot in the jaw and tortured. I pray to God these people never have to discover the consequences of their own semi-thought.' Bob Vylan: Radar Festival says it was forced to drop controversial act

Several more festivals have removed Bob Vylan from their line-ups in the wake of their performance at Glastonbury. A UK festival has said it was put in a lose-lose situation if the band were to continue to perform - facing an entire day being cancelled. Radar Festival's co-organiser Catherine Jackson-Smith spoke to podcasters this morning about the reasons for dropping the band, telling them it was beyond the festival's control. The fallout from Bob Vylan's Glastonbury Festival set continues, as Manchester's Radar Festival has dropped the group from their bill ahead of this weekend's event. An announcement was made earlier this week by the festival organisers, simply stating that Bob Vylan would no longer be part of the festival. It prompted fans to complain and call for ticket refunds due to the eleventh-hour change. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad But in an interview with podcast 2 Promoters 1 Pod, one of the organisers has now explained the reasons behind the band's removal, telling the podcast the decision was beyond their control - and an entire day of the festival would have been cancelled if Bob Vylan were due to perform. Radar Festival organisers joined the 2 Promoters 1 Group podcast this morning to explain the reasons for pulling Bob Vylan from their line-up this year. |Co-organiser Catherine Jackson-Smith said that the venue involved, the O2 Victoria Warehouse, was supportive of the band remaining on the bill. However, she claims a call was made by authorities that the band would either need to be removed, or the festival would be cancelled on Saturday, the day Bob Vylan were due to headline. 'We've only communicated with the venue,' she told the podcast. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'So the venue has had to be a middleman in some capacity with forces above their heads. As someone that owns a venue, I completely sympathise and understand the principle [...] that come Monday morning, they still have to have an income. They can't have their licence revoked or themselves shut down or police issues.' Jackson-Smith stressed she wanted Bob Vylan to perform at the festival, but had 'one of the most horrendous professional discussions' regarding the removal of the band. She added: 'We could continue with Bob Vylan as our headliner. If we continued with Bob Vylan as our headliner, we wouldn't have the festival happening on Saturday.' She added: 'We've got 41 other bands that are travelling here. They've all paid for flights, Underoath are travelling from America for this gig. I didn't want to phone up Underoath and say 'hey guys, never mind'. Financially, that puts us in an incredibly precarious situation.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The discussion came hours before the BBC announced they would drop 'high-risk' live performances like the ones undertaken by Bob Vylan and Kneecap, with the corporation stating that any musical performances deemed to be high risk would now not be broadcast live or streamed live.
