The best Shein wedding dresses for brides on a budget – including gorgeous satin-look number for £23

The best Shein wedding dresses for brides on a budget – including gorgeous satin-look number for £23

YOUR wedding should be the happiest time of your life - but discovering the true cost of those Instagram-perfect wedding gowns can put a dampener on things.
Instead of forking out thousands for a designer option, many brides are finding the dress of their dreams on Shein for a fraction of the price.
Take bride-to-be Sophie Cook for example, she found a stunning dress from the Chinese retailer for just £40.
And another lucky lady spotted a jaw-dropping dress being priced at a cool £13.77, thanks to a 66 per cent discount at the fast fashion giant.
So why couldn't this be me?
As a bride-to-be, I decided to see if I could be so lucky and reached for my laptop for a bit of online shopping.
On average, brides in the UK spend between £1,300 and £1,500 on their wedding dress, with some designers even charging upwards of £10,000 for their gowns.
Considering I'm going to wear mine for a matter of hours, I challenged myself to see what I could find for under the £150 mark.
Here are some of the best options I found…
Elitara Elegant Luxurious Beige Off-Shoulder Elastic Knitted Ruched Mermaid Hem Dress - £30.99

The first dress I tried was this off-the-shoulder gown with a gorgeous sweetheart neckline and a fun train.
And the best part of it is that is only cost £30.99.
With proper steam, it could be taken to the next level and I was hugely impressed with how good of a deal it was.
Belle Satin Strapless Maxi Dress With Adjustable Cross-Back Tie, Wedding Guest Dress - £23.49
BUY FROM SHEIN
If you are looking for your princess moment, this is it.
I was so excited to try this strapless gown, which had a flattering basque waistline.
The dress colour looked whiter on the website, although it was listed as "apricot", and I was surprised just how goldeny/creamy it was when it arrived.
If you added an underskirt, I think it could be taken to the next level - but for £23.49, it could be the bargain of the century.
Lace Trailing Wedding Dress - £86.99

My wedding dress dreams have always been influenced by one unforgettable look: Kate Middleton's iconic bridal lace gown.
Of course, I'm not working with a £250,000Alexander McQueen budget — but luckily, Shein came through with a seriously impressive alternative.
Their £86 version caught my eye, and once I tried it on, I was genuinely impressed.
The dress featured beautiful lace sleeves and a flattering, structured fit that made me feel both graceful and totally at ease.
For a price tag that's over 2,900 times less than Kate's, this felt like a major win.
EVER-PRETTY Romantic Deep V-Neck See-Through Floral Sequin Short Sleeves Wedding Dress - £40.49

BUY FROM SHEIN
If you are a boho bride, this dress could be for you.
I instantly felt comfortable in this tulle gown, which was so pretty and flattering and only cost just over £40.
I felt like I could sweep round it all day long, and immediately decided to keep it for my wardrobe.
Elitara Elegant White Tube Long Flare Sleeve Round Neck Backless Rhinestone Decor Mermaid Wedding Dress - £33.53

BUY FROM SHEIN
This dress looked promising on the website but was my least favourite of the bunch when it arrived - despite me loving the front neck buckle.
I think it was a 'me problem' though and just didn't fit me right or perhaps was the wrong size as the front was super baggy.
However, on a different body I think this dress would look more elegant.
Wedding makeup do's and dont's
Paige Williams, Founder & CEO of the iconic P.Louise makeup brand shared her tips.
DO: Go timeless over trendy
We all love a trend babe, but for your wedding day? Let's keep it classic. Think soft glam, radiant skin, neutral tones with a pop of sparkle - You want to look back in ten years and still be obsessed with your glam. Classic never goes out of style.
DON'T: Try something totally new
Your wedding day is not the time to switch it up with neon liner or completely new brows babe. You want to feel like you, just the most elevated, glowing version. Stick to what you know makes you feel confident and gorgeous.
DO: Prioritise long-wear formulas
Your wedding is a marathon, not a sprint. You're not just walking down the aisle, you're dancing, hugging, crying, and posing all day long. You need makeup that's in it for the long haul. Go for waterproof, transfer-proof & cry-proof products. Your face needs to slay from 'I do' to the last dance and be able to handle those happy tears.
DON'T: Overload your base
Babes, less is more. You want coverage, not cake. Go for that breathable, buildable base that lets your real skin glow through. You're aiming for flawless, not flat. Trust me, your photos will thank you.
DO: Book a trial
Non-negotiable. Whether you're DIY-ing your glam or booking a MUA, a trial is your makeup dress rehearsal. Test it in daylight, take selfies, wear it for hours. It's the only way to know it'll hit just right on the day.
DON'T: Forget your neck & chest
Don't stop the glam at your jawline, babe. Blend that foundation, bronzer and glow down to your neck and chest, we're going for seamless, snatched and sculpted from every angle. You're the main event, let it show.

I 'fat tested' the rides at UK's most popular theme park - there were so many seats I couldn't fit in

A group of women 'fat tested' the rides at Thorpe Park to see if they could fit comfortably in them all. Jo and Nat, known as @ on TikTok, shared their experience of testing the attractions at the popular theme park alongside some friends. First up was Rush, a giant swing ride that goes up to 75ft high at 50mph, and the video showed the pair being flung into the air. 'Never ever, ever again,' Nat commented afterwards. 'I must say, getting into the moulded seat you have to really get your bum back, it was quite tight,' Jo explained. Nat felt it wasn't 'the most comfortable' ride because of the seats being 'hard plastic'. However, overall they felt 'very secure' and were happy with the good amount of 'air time'. Zodiac was next to be put to the test. The ride spins 60ft high and has no restraints holding passengers down. 'Apparently gravity will keep us in when we go upside down,' Jo said. Nat quipped: 'Will we defy gravity?' After the ride, the pair shared their verdicts and Nat described it as 'brilliant'. Jo added: 'What a fantastic ride, you don't have anything holding you in.' Nat interjected: 'Absolutely nothing, you are sat practically on the floor of a cage with nothing, just hold on.' Jo joked: '... gravity keeps you in, and if it kept us whoppers in, it'll keep you in as well.' Vortex, a swinging pendulum ride, was next, and Nat hopped into the tester seat outside of the ride to see if she would be able to comfortably fit. She described it as 'very narrow at the thigh' and no green light appeared above the seat meaning she would be unable to ride. Jo also didn't pass the test, and neither did her friend Yvette, though their pal Susan managed to sit in the set fine. The friends then tested Quantum, a flying carpet, family ride, which secures riders with a lap bar. Nat commented: 'It's very comfortable, easy to access.' Family roller coaster, Flying Fish was also a success but The Swarm's tester seat proved to be too small for Jo and Nat, meaning they couldn't go on the winged roller coaster. In a second video, the group of women tackled Hyperia, the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the UK. Neither Nat or Jo were able to pass the seat test, while their friends Yvette and Susan did. Despite not being allowed to ride, they commented how impressed they were with the accessibility information board nearby Hyperia. Colossus, a 10-looped roller coaster, was up next, and Jo demonstrated herself attempting to fit in the test seat. She said: 'I'm not going to fit, but in the interest of transparency, showing you how much space I've got left from the seat belt.' 'I would say, if you're up to about a size 18 you could do Colossus,' Jo shared. The group of friends then attempted to test out Samurai, a spinning mechanical arm that flies 60ft high. A sign next to the seat said: 'Guests must be properly secured in the ride seat, which may not be possible for those with chest measurements approaching 51 inches.' 'My chest measurement is 63 inches, so there's absolutely no way I can even try it,' Jo commented. She then tested exactly where the harness needed to go down to be able to ride, and was surprised that the gap was quite small. 'If you're over a size 18, you're not going to fit on this,' she said. SAW - The Ride, based on the film of the same name, also wasn't a success for either Nat, Jo or Yvette, though Susan did fit. Though they were able to enjoy The Walking Dead ride, Jo shared: 'The only thing I will say is you have to have two people per cart so me and Nat were really really squashed in together, she had to have her arm around me for the whole ride which I'm sure she enjoyed.' Roller coaster Nemesis Inferno was next, and everyone was able to fit in the tester seat. 'If you are in a larger body, ask for row four and five because they have two seats on there that have double seat belts and they are are a bit more generous,' Nat explained afterwards. 'So I sat in one of those, Jo sat in front, Susan was okay in the normal buckle next to me but there are options if you are bigger bodies.' Drop ride Detonator proved to be a success for Yvette, but Jo and Nat couldn't pass the three safety clicks needed to fit into the seats. Meanwhile, roller coaster Stealth's tester seat was a struggle for three out of the four. Nat shared her overall verdict and said: 'I think the rides are really good but I wouldn't say it's completely accessible for a plus size body. 'I would say accessibility for disabilities is brilliant, though we did seem to ride more thrilling rides at Alton Towers.' It comes after Blackpool Pleasure Beach unveiled footage of its newest ride - which promises to be the 'tallest of its kind' in the UK and transform the resort's famous coastline. The park released the first CGI video of Aviktas, a brand-new £8.72m pendulum ride set to open in 2026. Riders will fly on the towering 138ft gyro swing, alongside the popular Big One roller coaster and parallel to the coast, which is displayed in new footage created by the park's creative team. The ride will be the 'tallest of its kind' in the UK, surpassing the current leader, Drayton Manor's Maelstrom, which reaches approximately 74 feet in height.

Strictly 'drug probe' star also 'suspected of boozing' while working on BBC show after crew smelt alcohol on their breath

One of the Strictly Come Dancing stars involved in the drugs probe was also suspected of drinking while working on the show after crew smelt alcohol on their breath. It comes after it was revealed the broadcaster has hired a law firm to probe allegations of drug taking by two individuals, whose drug use is said to be 'well-known' on the show. The Sun alleged that it was widely known that the pair, who have not been named, took the Class A substance, and that one of these Strictly performers were known for being a drinker. The publication have now reported that junior members of the team were asked to keep an eye on them during last year's show and to look for signs that they may have been boozing during work hours. A TV insider said: 'The person in question is renowned for loving to party, and that is a major problem when it impacts on their ability to do the job they need to do on Strictly in a safe and professional manner. 'It's not just about something being illegal or legal, it's about the BBC 's workplace policies and how the behaviour of certain individuals can impact on their work colleagues. 'On a very physical show like Strictly, with lots of sets and moving parts, the idea of someone being intoxicated in any way is wholly unacceptable.' A BBC spokesperson told Daily Mail: We do not recognise these claims and any suggestion that anyone has been asked to monitor an individual is completely untrue. BBC bosses are reportedly set to offer professional support to two stars of hit dancing show Strictly, amid allegations they took cocaine on the programme. It was revealed the broadcaster has hired a law firm to probe allegations of drug taking by two individuals, whose drug use is said to be 'well-known' on the show. The claims were reportedly made in a legal submission to the BBC by law firm Russells back in March, on behalf of former contestant Wynne Evans. A source told the newspaper: 'The BBC is taking the allegations really seriously. 'Bosses are aware of the two stars in question and have a duty of care to make sure they're okay. 'As per BBC policy, the option of specialised professional support is on the table and will be offered.' He used a vile sexual innuendo and was also caught up in a 'wandering hand' incident with dance partner Katya Jones [pictured with Wynne], who seemed to remove his arm from her lower waist on the show They added: 'While drug testing won't happen on the main show, bosses are considering bringing in random checks for the tour next year. 'The BBC needs to be sure nothing illegal is going on. It all depends on what the investigation finds.' The shock allegations come just amid a long period of controversy for the BBC and Strictly over the past year or so. In July last year, more than six months after quitting the show citing 'personal reasons', actress Amanda Abbington accused pro dancer Giovanni Pernice of 'unnecessary, cruel and mean behaviour' during their time dancing together on Strictly . Giovanni rejected the claims immediately, and a BBC investigation ruled in September that her claims of physical aggression and threatening behaviour were not upheld. When BBC bosses published their report into Giovanni's behaviour, it cleared him of the most serious allegations of physical aggression, but upheld verbal bullying and harassment. Complaints of verbal bullying and harassment meant the BBC issued an apology to Amanda, but Giovanni said he was 'pleased the report has not found any evidence of threatening or abusive behaviour'. Elsewhere, the show was plunged into crisis after Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans made a controversial joke during his time preparing for the Strictly tour in January. He used a vile sexual innuendo and was also caught up in a 'wandering hand' incident with dance partner Katya Jones , who seemed to remove his arm from her lower waist on the show. While his co-star John Torode [left] was also sacked after two decades over allegations that he used the N-word, which he claims to have 'absolutely no recollection' of After the BBC launched an investigation into his conduct, bosses decided not to renew his radio contract for his show. The TV star confirmed in May that they will not be renewing his one-year rolling contract following a four-month investigation after the inappropriate comments made during his time on Strictly. Elsewhere, in further scandals for the BBC, Gregg Wallace was recently dismissed from MasterChef after more than 40 complaints against him were upheld following a BBC investigation. While his co-star John Torode was also sacked after two decades over allegations that he used the N-word, which he claims to have 'absolutely no recollection' of. In separate further controversy, it's recently been reported that Naga Munchetty could face an investigation from BBC bosses after she was accused of bullying a junior colleague. The BBC Breakfast host, 50, has been placed 'under review' while bosses consider escalating complaints to a formal investigation, The Sun reports. A source said higher-ups had heard from several colleagues and logged concerns over her 'hard' and 'bullying' behaviour on the breakfast show, as well as her Radio 5 Live show.
