Rams DB recalls Sean McVay calling out Jared Verse for trash-talking teammates in practice

Jared Verse's trash-talking knows no bounds. The Defensive Rookie of the Year talks to opponents constantly throughout the game, but his jawing isn't limited to players on other teams.
When he first got to the Los Angeles Rams, he was talking smack to his teammates, too. And it even got him in some trouble.
Quentin Lake was on the 'Rich Eisen Show' Tuesday and he recalled the time Sean McVay yelled at Verse for demeaning his teammates in one of his first practices. McVay not only called out Verse on the field and told him to stop talking down to players, but also singled him out in the meeting room afterwards.
'I was on the field and he came back in the team meeting room and called him out again,' Lake said. 'He addressed him on the field and then we come back, we watch practice and get an understanding of the dos and don'ts of practice – how to be a professional. He mentioned what happened on the field with Jared again, Coach McVay did, and he said, 'I get where you're coming from in the sense that you want to have the tenacity, you want to have that fire. But at the same time, you have to realize that these are guys that are on our team. You might think it's a battle. It's ones versus ones. But at the same time, we're all trying to get better. You don't need to downplay a guy, you don't need to be demeaning.''
Verse said earlier this offseason that that was his 'welcome to the NFL' moment, getting a reality check from his head coach. It's hard for him to turn off that fire, constantly talking trash to people no matter the situation.
It's part of what makes him great, but he's learned to at least dial it back in practice when he's going up against guys wearing the same jersey as him.
