Best used small SUVs you can buy for under £15,000 from practical Peugeot to tiny retro favourite
Sports utility vehicles (SUVs) used to be big, boxy and expensive, but now they come in all shapes and sizes.

Small SUVs are now more popular and the best and cheapest subcompact SUVs have been revealed in a list compiled by Whatcar.
The Seat Arona
The Seat Arona offers a roomy interior, smooth ride and a petrol engine.
With an option of a 1 litre or a 1.5 litre engine motorists can choose how much power they would prefer to get from their Arona.
Unfortunately the durability of the Arona is in question with it reportedly failing short in this category.
A second hand Seat Arona will set motorists back by roughly £11,000.
The Suzuki Vitara
The boxy Suzuki Vitara has some real off road capability, something you would expect from an SUV.
A raised ride height and the option of four-wheel drive means the Vitara can tackle some rough and unforgiving surfaces.
It offers a choice of 1.4 litre and 1.5 litre engines with the 1.4 litre boosted by a turbo charger.
A second hand Vitara will cost motorists about £13,000 and it offers masses of interior space.
The Renault Captur
The Captur offers a reasonable and well rounded motor at decent prices.
Not the comfiest or the most powerful or the cheapest on the list the Renault does a lot of things well but none the best.
Motorists are given a choice of 1 litre and 1.6 litre engines offering some decent power.
The Captur will cost roughly £11,000 second hand depending on mileage.
The Peugeot 2008
The Peugeot offers a punchy bit of power generated by its 1.2 litre engine.
A seriously spacious interior offers plenty room for the whole family despite it only being a small SUV.
The motor has a modern ICockpit set-up allowing the driver to view the essential dials over the steering wheel instead of through it.
A second hand 2008 will set you back about £12,000 depending on model and mileage.

The Mini Countryman
A Mini isn't usually what comes to mind when thinking about SUVs.
But the Countryman offers everything other small SUVs do and then some.
Surprisingly for a Mini the countryman is spacious and offers a wealth of retro, classic Mini style.
With a bit of a firm ride the Countryman isn't the most comfortable but it does offer great reliability.
Motorists can choose a 1.5 litre and 2 litre engine size, both offering a decent boost in power compared to the other SUVs on the list.
A second hand Countryman will cost around £14,000
8
The Volkswagen T-Cross
The Volkswagen T-Cross offers a comfortable ride and plenty of interior space.
It offers several safety features and is easily manoeuvrable with its compact dimensions.
The T-Cross has two engine variants, a 1 litre and a 1.5 litre, both offering enough power but neither being that impressive.
A second hand T-Cross will cost about £13,000.
The Skoda Kamiq
With a slightly lower ride height than the other SUVs on this list the Kamiq's drive height is only slightly higher than that of a family hatchback.
It still offers an impressively spacious interior and great performance.
The Kamiq is easy to control and the ride is nice and smooth making it a great choice for families.
The Kamiq can be bought with a 1 litre and a 1.5 litre engine.
A second hand Kamiq, depending on mileage, will cost around £13,000.
The Audi Q2
Surprisingly, an Audi has made the list, despite being a typically more expensive brand the Q2 can be purchased second hand for a reasonable cost.
With more engine size options the Q2 can be more or less powerful depending on the variant you purchase.
The 1 litre, 1.4 litre and 1.5 litre petrol engines offer plenty of power at several levels.
Diesel 1.6 litre and 2 litre engines offer even more punch at the low end.
It offers a spacious, stylish interior and classic Audi styling on the exterior.
A second hand Q2 will set you back by about £13,000.
The Volkswagen T-Roc
The second Volkswagen to make the list the T-Roc offers plenty of space and a smooth ride.
A great family car the T-Roc comes with several power options depending on your needs.
A 1 litre, 1.5 litre and 2 litre variant are available at varying prices.
A second hand T-Roc costs around £14,000.
The Ford Puma
The Ford Puma is very reasonably priced and offers everything you could want from a small SUV.
Excellent steering and handling, plenty of space and a couple of punchy engine options.
The Puma offers great reliability and practicality and will only cost about £12,000 second hand.

Live F1 British Grand Prix qualifying: latest updates from Silverstone
Welcome to our live coverage for qualifying for the 2025 British Grand Prix. As it has been for nearly four decades, the race takes place at Silverstone which is, for my money, the best track on the calendar alongside Suzuka, Interlagos and the Circuit of the Americas. Not only are its high-speed sections a challenge for the drivers and a thrill for the fans, but it also produces excellent racing by and large. Could we see another British winner this year? Lewis Hamilton has an incredible record at Silverstone and won here last year for Mercedes. Lando Norris comes off the back of a victory in Austria and with the McLaren has the fastest car on the grid. Believe it or not, both of them are in contention this weekend. Hamilton's season at Ferrari has been one largely of struggle, but the team's recent floor upgrade appears to be working. After an improved showing in Austria last week, where they finished third and fourth behind the two McLarens, they have performed strongly in the three practice sessions this weekend. Indeed, Charles Leclerc was the fastest in final practice earlier today, but it is difficult to get a proper read on where the others are because of various stoppages and red flags. First a piece of debris from Oliver Bearman's Haas brought out the first red flag. The session was then restarted but Gabriel Bortoleto crashed in his Sauber, suffering suspension failure. And then Bearman spun as he was entering the pit lane, losing his front wing and nose. Another Briton who was in contention last year, George Ruselll, might find it harder to get to the front in 2025. But let's not count him out just yet. Qualifying begins at 3pm BST and we will be here for all the build-up, live updates and reaction from it.

Ollie Bearman handed severe penalty for British GP after crash in pit-lane
Ollie Bearman has been handed a 10-place grid penalty for Sunday's British Grand Prix after crashing in red flag conditions in practice. The 20-year-old, competing in his first F1 home race, lost control of his Haas car upon entering the pit-lane in the final practice session on Saturday. Bearman's car spun into the wall, though he did manage to drive it back to his garage. However, given the incident took place in red flag conditions where car control is paramount, the stewards have dished out a severe penalty for Bearman's race on Sunday. The Haas driver also received four penalty points, taking his total up to eight. Twelve in one year triggers a race ban.

F1 live streams: Link to watch British Grand Prix qualifying online
F1 next heads back to the scene of the sport's first ever race 75 years ago as Silverstone hosts the British Grand Prix and round 12 of the 2025 season. Lando Norris secured a vital and much-needed win last time out in Austria, thwarting a challenge from McLaren teammate and championship rival Oscar Piastri. The Australian driver's lead is now 15 points after the first 11 races. Charles Leclerc picked up the final podium place for Ferrari, while Max Verstappen retired after being hit by Kimi Antonelli. Verstappen's future at Red Bull has been the topic of much discussion this week - the Dutchman has been linked with a move to Mercedes, potentially replacing arch rival George Russell in 2026. Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, finished fourth in Austria and will be eyeing his first podium for Ferrari as he takes to his home track for the first time in red. Hamilton memorably won last year's race, his ninth victory at Silverstone. When is the British Grand Prix?
