Motor racing-Alonso to miss first Hungarian GP practice due to back injury
BUDAPEST (Reuters) -Aston Martin's Brazilian reserve driver Felipe Drugovich will replace Spaniard Fernando Alonso in first Friday practice at the Hungarian Formula One Grand Prix due to the Spaniard suffering a back injury.
The team said Alonso, who turned 44 last Tuesday, had been managing the muscular issue since the weekend's Belgian Grand Prix and had chosen to sit out the session while continuing treatment.
"Felipe Drugovich will drive in FP1 alongside Lance Stroll," Aston Martin said. "A decision will then be made on Fernando's participation in FP2 and the remainder of the weekend in due course."
Double world champion Alonso won the first race of his Formula One career at the Hungaroring with Renault in 2003. Drugovich, 25, was Formula Two champion in 2022 and has taken part in several F1 test sessions but has yet to start a race.
Aston Martin are eighth in the 10-team championship, just one point ahead of Haas.

The automotive business, Bosch's biggest segment, contributes more than 80% of overall revenue. India is a key hub for Bosch, with a focus on cost-effective making of parts ranging from fuel injectors to spark plugs. The unit gets 90% of its revenue from local sales. EU to suspend US tariff countermeasures for 6 months

The EU-U.S. agreement leaves many questions open, including tariff rates on spirits, and Trump's executive order last week setting tariffs on most EU goods at 15% did not include carve-outs such as for cars and car parts. EU officials have said they expect more executive orders to follow soon. "The EU continues to work with the U.S. to finalise a Joint Statement, as agreed on 27 July," the spokesperson said in a statement. "With these objectives in mind, the Commission will take the necessary steps to suspend by 6 months the EU's countermeasures against the US, which were due to enter into force on 7 August." "There are moments like this when you feel the journey is worth it," Gill said at the post-match press conference. "There have been a lot of highs and lows. That's kind of expected, especially with sport. Obviously, every time you go in to bat you want to score a century but that's not how the game of life works. "You should be able to navigate through the high and lows of life. I wanted to stay balanced. I'm still learning but so far so good." Gill, 25, was appointed captain in May following the retirement of two great Indian batsmen and leaders in Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also quit test cricket while the world's premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was rested for two tests in this series, including the Oval match.
