Award-winning Taiwanese host and author Wang Hao-yi passed away on June 29 at the age of 68, according to Taiwanese media reports.
Wang was best known as the co-host of Slow Travel Adventures , a cultural travel programme that explores Taiwan's landscapes and traditions from unique perspectives.
The series earned critical acclaim, winning the Golden Bell Award for Best Lifestyle Show Hosts in 2023.
Its seventh season is said to have aired earlier this year.
Wang's co-host, Liu Ke-hsiang, expressed his grief in a Facebook post, saying he was shocked by the sudden news.
'Thinking of the two of us filming together – from Feb 25, 2014 until now – we travelled across Taiwan and explored countless local customs.
'Thanks to his wit and humour, we were able to try many new things with the series.
'Now that he's gone… how can one not feel grief? Mourning!'
According to China Press, Wang had been experiencing heart issues in recent days and was recuperating.
In his post, Liu shared that Wang's brother told him that Wang had been driving when he began to feel unwell. "He pulled over by the roadside – and never recovered.'
The news has stunned fans, especially given the timing.
On June 24, Wang posted on Facebook to announce the passing of his 91-year-old mother and shared that his family was preparing funeral arrangements.
Now, in the span of just one week, his brother is left mourning the loss of both his mother and an older sibling.

Johor-Singapore RTS Link hits 56% completion, set for 2026 launch

JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link has achieved 56 per cent physical progress as of June, marking a significant milestone in the cross-border infrastructure project. Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi confirmed the progress, highlighting advancements in track construction, station development, and system testing. He expressed confidence that the project would elevate Johor's economic standing in the region. 'The RTS Link reflects the commitment of both the state and federal governments, alongside Singapore, to deliver modern, efficient, and safe infrastructure for public convenience,' Onn Hafiz said in a Facebook post today. The RTS Link, connecting Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru to Woodlands North in Singapore, will slash travel time to just five minutes. The project aims to alleviate border congestion while strengthening Malaysia-Singapore relations and stimulating regional economic growth. Scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, the RTS Link is designed for high efficiency, with a capacity of 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction. During peak hours, trains will run at 3.6-minute intervals, accommodating up to 180,000 passengers daily. Onn Hafiz, alongside Transport Minister Anthony Loke, attended the launch of the first RTS Link train in Singapore today. The event was also graced by Singapore's Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow and Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.

KLIA's Aerotrain is back! First departure at 10am tomorrow

PETALING JAYA: Transport Minister Anthony Loke has signed off on the papers, officially clearing the KLIA Aerotrain to resume operations tomorrow at 10am. 'This is the train that ferries passengers between the main terminal and the satellite building, making travel at KLIA Terminal 1 faster and more convenient. 'Big thanks to everyone who worked tirelessly to bring the Aerotrain back. See you on board!' Loke said in a Facebook post today. KLIA's automated aerotrain system has had a long and often bumpy journey since it began service in 1998. After years of recurring technical issues, a major breakdown in March 2023 left 114 passengers stranded mid-track, prompting Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) to suspend the service indefinitely. Loke was reported saying the upgraded aerotrain now features three-carriage sets, each capable of carrying 270 passengers per trip. Two trains will operate in rotation, with a third on standby. To optimise service and upkeep, the trains will use dual tracks during peak periods and a single track during off-peak hours.

Taiwanese girl group S.H.E reunite – for Hebe Tien's concert

Hebe Tien (centre) shared a photo with Ella Chen (left) and Selina Jen on social media on June 26. Photo: Hebe Tien/Instagram Taiwanese girl group S.H.E is back together, though only in support for member Hebe Tien's concert. Tien, 42, is on a Live In Life tour in Taiwan, where she is playing at small, scenic locations on the island. She performed at the Outdoor Theatre of National Kaohsiung Centre for the Arts (Weiwuying) on June 21 and 22. The singer posted several throwback photos of her Kaohsiung shows on social media on June 26. They included one of her with bandmates Ella Chen, 44, and Selina Jen, 43. Both Chen and Jen wore the official white T-shirts of the concert. That photo drew the most number of 'likes' – more than 1,700 – on Facebook, compared with fewer than 400 for the other photos. Tien also posted photos of Chen and Jen entering the venue together. 'The city of Kaohsiung has added different stories to my life, and made me deeply understand the uncertainties of life,' Tien wrote in Chinese on June 26. 'It has also taught me to deeply cherish the daily life of being able to sing safely and healthily.' 'Thank you, Kaohsiung, for your acceptance and patience, and thank you to my sisters who have been loving and supporting me all the way, and to the friends who came and cheered for me. Kaohsiung is very hot, not just due to the temperature, but also due to everyone's passionate love,' she added. In September 2022, Tien had to postpone her concerts at Kaohsiung Arena for a week after she came down with a bad bout of flu. She then had to cancel her third and fourth shows due to safety concerns following an earthquake in south-eastern Taiwan. Formed in 2001, S.H.E left its long-time label HIM International Music in 2018, with the three singers setting up their own management agencies. They said they were not disbanding despite going solo. The group's last studio album was 2012's Blossomy . Tien released her fifth studio album, Time Will Tell , in 2020. It nabbed three awards at Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards in 2021, including for Best Female Singer (Mandarin). Meanwhile, Chen took part in reality shows such as Ride The Wind 2023 , where she emerged the winner, and acted in dramas such as Dr Lifesaver (2023 to 2024) and Us Without Sex (2024). She released her second studio album, Bad Habits , in 2024. Jen starred in her first horror movie Funeral (2022) and released her second mini-album, My Own Beauty , in 2022. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
