Buckhead community remembers beloved school teacher found on Lake Oconee
'He has had an impact on all of our children,' Whitney Farr said. 'He is going to be terribly missed.'
He taught one child physics, another he coached in basketball; and for their oldest child Catherine, he encouraged her to join the track team even with cerebral palsy, showing up every day with a golf cart to help her get to practice.

'So, Gary in ninth grade told me I would come up and pick up Katherine every day before practice and bring her down for you,' Whitney Farr noted.
But then, on February 8 — Gary and his fiancée disappeared while out on Lake Oconee.
'Obviously, we were devastated,' Whitney Farr said.
What followed was a week-long search—using boats—cadaver dogs, and special equipment to find the missing teacher.
'As days pass by, it becomes more and more difficult to hold out hope,' Dorsey Farr said.

On Sunday, Gary Jones' body was found, the news hitting the families he impacted hard.
'We had some tears and talked about how we were at peace,' Whitney Farr said.
But for those who had kids taught or coached by him—Gary Jones memory will live on—in the lessons he taught them and how he lived.
'Just thank you for all that he gave to our community, and I know we are not the only ones who feel that way,' Whitney Farr said.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Unknown attackers launched a gun and grenade attack on a court building in southeast Iran Saturday, killing six people including a child and wounding 20, state TV reported. The report said security forces killed three of the gunmen in the armed clash in the country's restive southern province of Sistan and Baluchestan. It did not identify any of the victims. State TV said the attack happened in the province's capital city of Zahedan. Police and security forces immediately took control of the site, 1,130 kilometers or 700 miles southeast of the capital, Tehran. A report by the semiofficial Tasnim news agency, believed to be close to security forces, blamed the attack on the militant group Jaish al-Adl, which wants independence for Iran's eastern Sistan and Pakistan's southwestern Baluchistan provinces. The province, bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan, has been the site of occasional deadly clashes involving militant groups, armed drug smugglers and Iranian security forces. In October, an attack on an Iranian police convoy in the province killed at least 10 officers. Sistan and Baluchistan province is one of the least developed parts of Iran. Relations between the predominantly Sunni Muslim residents of the region and Iran's Shiite theocracy have long been strained.

Feds charge SoCal medical workers with interfering in ICE raid
Two staff members from an Ontario surgery center have been charged with allegedly interfering with U.S. immigration officers trying to detain landscapers who ran into the center to escape. Jose de Jesus Ortega, a 38-year-old Highland resident, was arrested Friday morning and is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Riverside, according to a U.S. attorney's office Central District of California news release. Officials are still looking for the other suspect, Danielle Nadine Davila, 33, of Corona. Both are charged with assaulting a federal officer and conspiracy to prevent by force and intimidation a federal officer from discharging his duties, authorities said. According to video obtained by KTLA-TV, staffers at the Ontario Advanced Surgical Center earlier this month told two agents to leave because they didn't have a warrant to go onto the property. The agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement were trying to detain 30-year-old Denis Guillen-Solis and two other landscapers who had been working outside and ran into the surgical center when the agents showed up. In the video, Guillen-Solis is shown holding onto the doorway at the surgical center and asking the agents to present identification. The agents then pulled Guillen-Solis from the doorway and detained him. 'The illegal alien arrested inside the surgery center was not a patient. He ran inside for cover and these defendants attempted to block his apprehension by assaulting our agents," said U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli in a statement. According to an affidavit, the two ICE agents wore government-issued equipment, including vests and were using unmarked government-operated vehicles when they conducted their operations. The agents followed a truck with three men inside and approached them after the men exited the truck in the parking lot of the surgery center, according to the release. Two of the men ran away and one of them, an alleged undocumented immigrant from Honduras, was detained near the surgery center's front entrance and tried to pull away, causing the ICE officer to fall to the ground. A medical staffer helped the man off the ground and pulled him away from the officer, according to the news release. The man went into the surgery center and was chased by the ICE agent, who eventually stopped him. The incident occurred amid an extraordinary immigration enforcement effort by the Trump administration in Southern California. Rapper GloRilla arrested on drug charges after burglary at Georgia home
Rapper GloRilla has been arrested in Georgia after cops found a 'significant amount' of drugs while investigating a burglary at her metro Atlanta home. Authorities were called to the rapper's house at around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday to investigate a break-in, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office confirmed to local ABC affiliate WSB-TV. The 'Let Her Cook' artist, who's legal name is Gloria Woods, was away in Indianapolis for the WNBA All-Star Game at the time of the incident, but a family member inside her home fired a gun at the burglars, causing them to run away, according to police. During the investigation, cops smelled a 'strong odor consistent with illegal narcotics' in a closet inside the home's primary bedroom. A drug task force was called in, after which 'a significant amount of marijuana was discovered in plain view,' according to the sheriff's office. After voluntarily turning herself in to the Forsyth County Jail on Tuesday, the 25-year-old rapper was charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. She was released the same day on $22,260 bond. Attorneys for GloRilla have slammed local law enforcement following the incident, calling their client 'a victim, not a suspect.' 'The arrest of Gloria Woods is a disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities have become,' her lawyers said in a statement to TMZ. 'Instead of investigating the violent home invasion and theft at Ms. Woods' home, they instead sought a search warrant when they spotted what they believed was a small amount of marijuana. Law enforcement then sought arrest warrants for her even though she hadn't been at her home for some time.' As noted by her lawyers, no arrest warrants have been issued for the burglars, who made off with some 'high-value jewelry.' 'This is our tax dollars at work, absolutely unbelievable,' her attorneys said. Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman called the rapper 'a victim of a serious crime' and said his office is committed bringing the thieves to justice, but noted they must still 'continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case.' Following the incident, GloRilla went on to perform at halftime of the WNBA's All-Star Game, singing a medley of her songs 'Let Her Cook,' 'Typa' and 'TGIF.' -----------
