When AsiaOne asked him how he felt about this win, he said he suddenly thought of his mother who died July last year. "In the past, whenever I won an award, she was always the first person I would tell. But this year… I no longer have that chance. So today, I'm wearing her ring and her earrings. I hope she knows."
He said some people may wonder why he won again and spoke his piece.
"I just want to say this, I'm an actor. Acting is no longer just my profession. It's my life. It's everything to me. I've been doing this for over 30 years, and during that time, I've always been nurturing and guiding the younger generation. But acting is still my craft, and I have to give it my all," he said. Cynthia Koh won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the drama Hope Afloat, and she told AsiaOne she had been waiting for this moment for a long time.
"After so many years of returning empty-handed, I've felt disappointed and distraught previously. So to be able to get it this time round, I'm truly very happy," said the 51-year-old.
"Honestly, perhaps due to the disappointment from previous years, yesterday I was able to fall asleep really quickly, and didn't really consider winning the award much, if at all."

Tyler Ten is this year's Best Rising Star. He won the award for his role in Unforgivable.
The 29-year-old told AsiaOne he's thinking of buying a whole cake for himself to celebrate his achievement.
"I love chocolate cake, and I've been starving myself so that I can look good on stage. Qijia, also 31, recalled how she drank a matcha latte and almost blacked out during a night belt with Hazelle: "It was then that I realised I had caffeine intolerance. So I was literally talking and I almost closed my eyes and blacked out... I told Hazelle, 'Babe, I'm, gonna faint.' Then, she quickly passed me her medicated oil. I'll remember that oil for life." High energy, strong vocals: J-pop boy band Be:First makes explosive debut in Singapore, Entertainment News

No fancy effects, no outfit changes, not even a backing track. But these didn't matter. The two-hour Who is Be:First? sold-out performance on July 5 was not just the Japanese boy band's debut concert in Singapore. It was also my first J-pop concert and just like the lyrics of their opening song Mainstream, they certainly showed me a new standard. The seven members of Be:First - Leo, Manato, Shunto, Junon, Ryuhei, Sota and Ryoki - are a balance of skilled vocalists and dancers, with a strong stage presence that amplified their performances. The high energy from the start didn't dim one bit, even though almost every song had a dance break to keep the beat up. Halfway through, they slowed things down a little with SOS, the track I looked forward to hearing the most. As expected, they didn't disappoint, and I would argue it sounded better in person with their clear vocals that weren't drowned out by instrumentals or backing tracks. What impressed me was how everyone sounded stable when singing and rapping despite the often-intense choreographies their songs had. Sota, for one, stood out with his confident, clean and sharp moves, but that's not to say the other members were lacking. They each knew how to keep the audience engaged with their stage charisma. "Singapore too hot," remarked the youngest Ryuhei, 19, at one point, after a loving Sota wiped his perspiration with a towel. The latter then asked the crowd if they were doing okay, and Shunto, 21, looked up at the second level of Capitol Theatre to ask in English: "Are you okay?" Sota, 24, joined him, making fanning gestures: "Are you okay? Not hot?" I was admittedly disappointed that there was no interpreter for their talking segments, but it was little moments like this one where I appreciated the sweet attempts to break the language barrier. We agree Ryuhei, Singapore is really hot 🥲#BF_WORLDTOUR2025 — AsiaOne (@asiaonecom) July 5, 2025 The members, who made their debut in 2022, talked about having local dishes like chilli crab and paper-wrapped chicken and visiting the Merlion Park before asking fans for recommendations on other places to go to. Their fandom Besty matched the group's energy by tenfold, be it through singing when asked to or giving enthusiastic cheers and answers to the boys' questions. Many suggestions on where to go were heard from the audience, with the popular ones being Sentosa, Universal Studios Singapore and Night Safari. Light sticks unite the crowd in K-pop, but I noticed J-pop fans make up for that with their handheld banners and matching merchandise. I also personally loved that official fanchants aren't a thing for the latter, as fans often drown out the artistes' live singing at K-pop concerts. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed myself - the setlist had something for everyone: From catchy, dance-heavy tracks like Scream and Grit to spirited and lighthearted tunes like Sailing and Blissful. Who is Be:First? They might just be the new standard indeed. Watch for our E-Junkies video interview with Be:First coming out soon! Star Awards 2025: Biggest winner Christopher Lee says son Zed was happy he was thanked twice on stage

Christopher Lee got the best early birthday present when he took home three trophies at the Star Awards on Sunday night (Jul 6). The Malaysia-born actor, who turns 54 on Jul 23, was the night's biggest winner, clinching Best Actor for mystery drama Kill Sera Sera, Best Programme Host for variety show Dishing With Chris Lee 2, and the Special Achievement Award. The first two, he shared, were completely unexpected. In fact, he was so surprised that he hesitated before going on stage when pal Mark Lee announced his name for Best Programme Host. Backstage, still clutching his trophies in disbelief, Lee beamed: 'I'm really surprised and happy. I was very contented to just receive the Special Achievement Award. I didn't expect to get Best Host and Best Actor too.' Lee, who snagged Best Host for the same show in 2023, previously took home Best Actor in 1997 for The Price Of Peace and in 2013 for Show Hand. He also has four Golden Bell Awards under his belt. 'Like my wife said, 'What award can I win next year?'' he chuckled, referring to Fann Wong's infamous quip at the 1995 Star Awards. 'It really feels that way.' For those too young to remember, a then-newbie Wong caused a stir when she blurted those words after sweeping three awards: Best Actress for Chronicle Of Life, Best Newcomer and Top 5 Most Popular Artiste. While it's debatable if Wong appreciated him bringing up her controversial one-liner, one person who would be most pleased with Lees' antics is their 11-year-old son Zed. 'That's because I mentioned his name twice on stage,' said Lee. If you too were wondering who the 'buddy Li Xi Quan' Lee thanked in his acceptance speech was – it's Zed. Now that Lee is a two-time Best Host winner, does he think Zed – who impressed with his Mandarin skills at a Mother Tongue Symposium – would be inspired to follow in dad's footsteps to be a host? 'His Chinese is good?' Lee laughed. 'I'll let him make his own choices. Perhaps he might in the future. I will let him decide for himself.' He added: 'Our generation and his are very different, and so is their way of thinking. If he wants to be a host, I'd support him. If not, I'd encourage him to do something else. What's most important is that he does something he enjoys.' As for celebrating his wins, that will have to wait. Lee had to catch a flight back to Taiwan for work right after the awards. 'Perhaps a couple of days before or after my birthday, I'll come back and have a good celebration with my family,' he said. Catch Lee's winning moment at the Star Awards in the video below:
