Police seek help identifying suspect after teen girl sexually assaulted in Georgetown

Police in Halton Region are asking for the public's help in identifying a man wanted in a sexual assault in Georgetown on Friday.
Halton Regional Police said a group of youths were walking in the area of Dominion Gardens Park around 10:30 p.m. when an unknown man approached and engaged them in conversation.
'While interacting, the male distanced himself from the group alongside one of the female youths and subsequently sexually assaulted her,' police allege in a news release on Saturday.
The man fled on foot and was last seen headed towards Christ the King Catholic Secondary School.
He is described as a South Asian male between 20 and 25 years old, standing five feet six to five feet nine inches tall, with a thin build, black hair, and a scruffy beard. Police said the man was last seen wearing black pants, a black t-shirt and white shoes.
In the wake of the incident, police issued a public safety advisory, urging residents in the area to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or persons.

Officers found a parked vehicle with its back window shot out, police said, adding they quickly found a vehicle driven by people they suspected were involved with the reported shots. The officers chased them on Anthony Henday Drive to the Cameron Heights neighbourhood, where the suspects crashed, fled on foot into the nearby ravine and were arrested, police said. Charges are pending. CTV News Edmonton has asked Edmonton police for the genders and ages of the people arrested.

According to a release issued by Langley RCMP, Mounties were called to a report of shots being fired around Willoughby Way and 200 Street, near Meadows Edge Park, at around 5:32 p.m. Attending officers 'located evidence consistent with a shooting,' and a 48-year-old man was taken to hospital for 'further assessment,' police said. Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said the investigation is still in its early stages and a motive behind the incident is still to be determined. Anyone with any relevant information, including dash cam video taken in the area between 5:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file number 25-21567. Motorists are advised to expect road closures and delays in the area.
