It is one of the most popular and highest-grossing movies ever
The top-earning video game film since Super Mario Bros, Sonic the Hedgehog, will soon be available for home streaming.
From June 25, Sonic the Hedgehog will join the catalogue on Paramount Plus. Subscribers can sign up directly via the dedicated app or add it as an extra subscription through Amazon Prime Video.

The third instalment of the live-action adaptation of Sega's cherished blue mascot, Sonic, sees Ben Schwartz reprising his role as the voice of the eponymous hedgehog, alongside Idris Elba as Knuckles and Jim Carrey as Doctor Eggman.

Carrey also portrays his character's grandfather in a dual role. James Marsden returns as one of the few human characters, while Keanu Reeves makes his debut in the franchise as Shadow the Hedgehog.
As per the synopsis for the 2024 release, Sonic, Knuckles and Tails band together to combat Shadow, a mysterious new adversary with unprecedented powers. Outmatched in every aspect, they form an unlikely alliance to thwart Shadow and safeguard the planet, reports Surrey Live.
The film was a box office hit and received positive reviews from critics and fans alike. An IGN report from January this year stated that the film ranked as the second highest grossing movie based on a video game franchise.
The film achieved a worldwide box office total of nearly $500 million, ranking behind the animated Super Mario Bros Movie from 2023 which grossed $1.3 billion. However, its position has since been overtaken by A Minecraft Movie, which has earned over $900 million.

Noteworthy also are the film's 85% Rotten Tomatoes rating and its 95% fan score on the same platform. The movie has garnered widespread acclaim from fans who have shared their opinions online.
One viewer claims that this instalment surpasses its predecessors, stating: "A big improvement on the previous two movies. Great characters, action and story with some genuinely heartbreaking moments. Keanu Reeves' Shadow is the definite standout, but I also loved Jim Carrey and I hope the franchise finds a way to bring him back."
Another enthusiastic fan added: "Absolutely AMAZING MOVIE! Characters are well written, story is great, voice acting is great, CGI is GREAT, and some scenes almost make me cry just thinking about it! Gerald is really good, Shadow is great, and Eggman is one of the best villains in cinema!"

Meanwhile, another commentator concluded that the film caters to both long-time fans of Sonic, who first appeared in the 1991 video game, and newcomers alike. They stated: "Sonic The Hedgehog 3 is an absolute triumph in the realm of animated adaptations, delivering a rich blend of nostalgia and fresh storytelling that keeps both longtime fans and newcomers thoroughly engaged."
They went on to say: "From the very start, the film launches into high-octane action, particularly the intense battles between Sonic and Shadow. These sequences are not just visually striking but also packed with thrilling references to classic Sonic games, which will undoubtedly bring a smile to the faces of those who have followed the franchise for years."
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is streaming on Paramount Plus from June 25.

John Cena, 48, packs on the PDA with glamorous wife Shay Shariatzadeh, 36, as couple make a rare appearance at Heads of State screening in London

John Cena shared a smooch with his glamorous wife Shay Shariatzadeh as they attended a special screening of his new film Heads of State in London on Tuesday. The American actor, 48, looked more loved-up than ever with Shay, 36, as they posed for photos together at the screening held at the BFI Southbank. The professional wrestler cut a dapper figure in a black and white pinstriped suit which he teamed with a smart white shirt and a matching tie. Coordinating with her husband, engineer Shay, whom John married in 2020, looked stunning in a black minidress which boasted an eye catching large white bow. She put on a leggy display in a pair of stilettos and accessorised with a pair of chic pearl drop earrings. The couple - who are very private about their relationship - were also joined by his co-star Priyanka Chopra Jonas, 42, who turned heads in a plunging black dress. The actress looked sensational in the halterneck number which boasted a beige floral design and showed off her amazing figure. She elevated her frame in a pair of black strappy sandals as she flashed her gorgeous smile while posing for photos. The Amazon Prime Video action-comedy Heads Of State follows John starring as a blockbuster action star who later becomes the President of the United States. He will appear alongside Idris Elba, who plays a former commando who rises to become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, but despite his country's longstanding 'special relationship' with the US, the two world leaders have an ongoing rivalry. Their differences don't last long though when both become the targets of a global conspiracy, and Priyanka joins the fray as an MI6 agent who is ordered to keep the two leaders out of harm's way. It comes after John's ex-fiance Nikki Garcia recalled reuniting him for the first time seven years after calling off their engagement in 2018. The WWE wrestler - who recently broke her silence on her brutal divorce payout to Artem Chigvintsev - opened up about the topic on the recent episode of the Honestly Cavallari podcast. It had been recorded back in March during Kristin Cavallari's podcast tour when Nikki and her twin sister Brie featured as guests. The former couple had crossed paths at 2025 Royal Rumble in early February 'seven [or] eight years' after they had last seen each other. 'It was very quick,' she expressed, adding that it had been so out of 'respect' since the fellow pro wrestler is a 'married man' now - referring to his wife Shay. 'I was in a circle talking to people. He came to [shake] everyone's hand. He shook my hand,' Nikki said. Host Kristin told Nikki she was surprised they did not hug, which prompted the TV personality to affirm that it had only been a handshake. 'We just said, "Hello, good to see you. I think last time we were engaged. I don't know. It's been a while,"' the star remembered. 'But the thing was, when he walked away, all the girls were like, "Oh my gosh." I'm like, "Shh, shh, He's married, be respectful." And that was it.' While the interaction was brief, Nikki expressed that it had been 'nice' and added: 'It was great because breaking the ice and you know, we just both happened to be back at the same time. It's a good feeling.' Kristin then teased: 'Everyone wants you guys to be together.' But the mom-of-one quickly changed the subject by responding with, 'Oh, gosh. Oh, next question!' Nikki and John first began dating in 2012 but it later emerged that he had made her sign an alleged 75-page contract before they moved in together. Some of the bizarre demands included her 'being a "guest" in his home' and that they both have the 'same morning and evening routine.'. Five years into their relationship, John got down on one knee and popped the big question to Nikki - during WrestleMania 33 in 2017. At the time, he had announced in front of the crowd: 'I have been waiting so long to ask you this. Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace, will you marry me?' She said yes to the proposal, which resulted in the audience in the venue to let out excited cheers. However the following year, the pair split and ended their engagement. Their wedding had already been scheduled for May 2018 which was cancelled. John has since remarried Shay and the couple keep their romance very private, with the star revealing why on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast last year. He shared: 'One of the promises I made to her on the altar was, "I will never put you or I'll do my best to not put you in an undue harm's way". 'So a lot of it is just about genuine safety. And it's not to say that everyone out there has bad intentions or we'd ever run into someone bad, but you also never know when someone feels threatened. 'If my wife, who is my travel partner and partner in life, now feels unsafe or uncomfortable in all these new places we go, I got another hurdle to climb in my personal life. 'It's just an exercise in the strength of boundaries and the value of boundaries.' They were first romantically linked when they were seen on a dinner date in Vancouver in March 2019, where John was filming Playing With Fire.

Jim Carrey reveals role that was 'like torture' but he'd like to play again

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Jim Carrey has revealed his desire to revisit a beloved character "one more time". The comedian, known for a huge variety of memorable roles ranging from the everyman Truman Burbank in The Truman Show to the darkly intriguing lead in The Cable Guy, has a particular part that resonates with him. At 62, Jim, who had previously hinted at retirement, decided to step back into the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Jim returned as Doctor Robotnik in the third film based on SEGA's iconic video game character, despite having indicated that his involvement in the sequel would be his final role. The star, celebrated for performances in hits like Yes Man, Bruce Almighty, and Liar Liar, has now divulged which character he's keen to play again. In a recent chat, Jim was asked "Is there any one character that you'd love an opportunity to play one more time?" Jim seemed momentarily taken aback, uttering "gosh," before revealing his choice, reports the Mirror US. (Image: PA) Admirers of the festive favourite 'The Grinch' will be thrilled, as Carrey seems open to donning the green suit again. He said: "If we could figure out The Grinch. That'd be difficult." While crafting a follow-up to Ron Howard's yuletide blockbuster might pose challenges, the interviewer humorously suggested that someone would "try and figure it out now". Jim added: "You know, the thing about it is, is that on the day I had to do that with a ton of makeup and I could hardly breathe and I went, you know, it was an extremely excruciating process. The children were in my mind all the time. 'It's for the kids, for the kids, the kids.' "And now with motion capture and things like that, I could be free to do some other things. But, you know, anything's possible in this world. Anything's possible." Jim has talked openly about his difficulties portraying The Grinch, admitting in past interviews that he underwent CIA training to endure breathing in the costume. He even considered walking away from the 2003 film until Oscar-winning producer Brian Grazer intervened. Brian introduced Jim, who felt as though he was "buried alive" in the suit, to a CIA contact. On his first day, Jim revealed that getting into the suit took "eight-and-a-half hours" after which he returned to his trailer and "put [his] leg through the wall" in frustration. (Image: Liverpool Echo) In his book A Curious Mind: The Secret to a Bigger Life, Grazer recounts, "One of the CIA people I'd talked to years before specialized in training US agents to survive torture if they were captured. We had an actor being held prisoner by his costume - he was being tortured by his makeup." In an interview with chat show presenter Graham Norton, Jim Carrey spoke candidly about his daunting experience while filming The Grinch. He revealed that a mix of breathing exercises and a smoking habit saw him through the challenging shoot. Jim admitted: "If you're freaking out and spiralling downward, turn the television on, change a pattern, or have someone you know come up and smack you in the head, punch yourself in the leg, or smoke - smoke as much as you possibly can." His methods clearly paid off, as the film is now considered a timeless favourite, and fans are eager to see if he might don the Grinch's costume once more.

'Wildly entertaining' Amazon Prime action thriller soars up top 10 chart

There's something inherently satisfying when a team of ragtag individuals are put together for a high-stakes mission. Whether it's Brad Pitt and George Clooney assembling a new group in Ocean's Eleven or Tom Cruise setting up his next daring stunt in the Mission: Impossible franchise, teamwork does indeed make the dream work. And when it comes to Amazon Prime Video's latest series, Countdown, it is certainly no exception to that rule. Created by Derek Haas, who is known for shows such as One Chicago and FBI: International, viewers are hailing it as a 'wildly entertaining' ride. Following the murder of a Department of Homeland Security agent, Nathan Blythe (Euphoria star Eric Dane) puts together a task force of agents from various agencies who are each known for their unconventional methods. The team includes Mark Meachum (The Boys star Jensen Ackles), Amber Oliveras (Jessica Camacho), Keyonte Bell (Elliot Knight), Evan Shepherd (Violett Beane), and Lucas Finau (Uli Latukefu). To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Each of them works to track down the murderer; however, the search starts to reveal a much darker conspiracy that could endanger the lives of Americans. Described by Collider as 'wildly entertaining', the 13-part series has received some mixed reviews after the opening three episodes dropped on the streaming service. Writing on Rotten Tomatoes, viewer Natalia G said: 'Really enjoyed the first three episodes. Full of action and thrill. All of the actors are doing an amazing job. Looking for something to watch this July? Why not check out these incredible series … The Boys – 93% The Wheel of Time – 89% The Bondsman – 83% Invincible – 99% Fallout – 84% Condor – 87% 'The characters already seem to be well fleshed out, and I quickly became invested in their stories and what they are going through. Jensen Ackles as a lead is doing an amazing job. 'Mark Meachum is a complex character that really is going through some dark stuff in his personal life. And Ackles portrayed that struggle beautifully. Can't wait to see what's next!' Jade M added: 'Loved it. Kept me on the edge of my seat! Am invested in the team, I need to know about them and I already care. Jensen Ackles was so very good but I was expecting him to be. The others were also very good.' However, TV criticNick Schager from The Daily Beast wrote: 'Clunky, simplistic, unbelievable, and inert, it's a show that manages the impressive feat of being generic in absolutely every respect.' Ross McIndoe from Slant Magazine also argued: 'The series feels like a cop show from an older, more conservative era of television.' This comes as viewers are also rushing to binge an 'excellent' crime drama on Amazon Prime Video that offers a new perspective on a comic book classic. Created by Bruno Heller, Gotham follows James 'Jim' Gordon's early days at the Gotham City Police Department. Set during the period after the death of Bruce Wayne's parents, the series has received high praise from fans. Writing on IMDb, where it currently has a 7.8 rating, hgdybecker described it as a 'different take on the Batman universe – but a very good one'. Earlier this month, Countdown star Dane broke his silence after receiving a heartbreaking ALS diagnosis in April. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is often referred to as one of the most cruel diseases a human can face, and is a progressive neurological disease that is almost always fatal. Speaking with Good Morning America's Diane Sawyer, the former Grey's Anatomy star defiantly vowed 'I don't feel like this is the end of me'. More Trending 'I wake up every day and I'm immediately reminded that this is happening,' he said. 'I don't think this is the end of my story. I don't feel like this is the end of me.'
