Speaking on the occasion, SI Veena Reddy said, 'In recent times, there has been an increase in harassment cases targeting women and children, especially those staying alone. Many girls are falling victim to deception through social media platforms like Instagram under the guise of friendship.'
She urged students to focus on their education and not be afraid to come forward and report any harassment. 'We assure complete confidentiality for those who file complaints,' she added. She also advised people to be cautious and avoid responding to video calls and messages from unknown persons.
SI Veena Reddy stated that the SHE Team is actively operating in key areas, bus stands, and mandal headquarters to ensure the safety of women and girl students. Anyone wishing to report harassment can contact 100 or 87126 57676.
Bharosa Center Coordinator Srilatha explained the details of the POCSO Act to the students. SHE Team member Venkataiah, Head Constable Srinivasulu Sharma from the Human Trafficking Division, Gopal, and others were present at the event.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 24-year-old college student from Shirur Kasar in Beed district lodged a complaint with the local police, alleging he received abusive messages, religious slurs, and a threat from an Instagram user claiming to be based in Pakistan. Beed superintendent of police Navneet Kanwat said, "The Shirur police have registered an FIR under relevant sections and initiated an investigation. The identity and location of the suspect are being verified, and the cybercrime branch has been roped in to trace the origin of the messages. According to the FIR, the complainant, Suraj Gadekar, a resident of Shivajinagar in Shirur, told the police that the incident began on July 11 when he was watching reels on a social media platform. He came across a reel from a recent Bollywood movie and, in the comments section, noticed a highly objectionable comment posted by a user. Infuriated, Suraj confronted the user via direct messages, and both parties reportedly exchanged abuses over the following days. During the chats, the accused allegedly claimed to be from Karachi, Pakistan, and shared his location. The complaint further states that the accused made derogatory remarks about deities and practices and shared provocative audio clips and reels targeting a particular religion. The situation escalated on July 29 when the complainant received an audio message from the accused. In the voice clip, the sender allegedly said he needed 50 men to blow up a prominent religious place and offered Rs 1 lakh each to those who joined. He also referred to supplying RDX for the operation and demanded contact details of anyone willing to assist.

3 held for robbing fruit seller at knifepoint
Chandigarh: Three miscreants have been arrested for robbing a fruit seller of his purse containing cash and other documents at knifepoint in Ramdarbar. The police had filed a case based on the statement of the victim. All accused are residents of Ramdarbar, Chandigarh. In his complaint to the police, Lalu Chauhan, a resident of Phase-2, Ramdarbar, stated that he is a fruit seller, and on July 29, 2025, at about 11 PM, he and his brother Mukul were going home from Kisan Mandi. When they reached near Cactus Park in Ramdarbar, three persons approached them from the front and started assaulting them. These three accused were calling each other by their names, and one of the accused, Sawan, took out a knife and pointed it at Lalu's neck. Habru held his hands, and Shubham took out his purse containing cash around 12,000, an Aadhar card, and other documents, and fled from the spot. Lalu informed the police about the incident, and officers from the Sector-31 police station reached the spot. Police recorded the statements of the victims and started an investigation. During the course of the investigation, police arrested all three accused and claimed to have recovered the snatched documents, ATM card, and one knife from the possession of the accused. Police said all the accused have a criminal record. The accused Sawan is already booked in five cases of rioting, attempted murder, robbery, and assault, while the accused Shubham was booked in three cases of burglary, POCSO Act, and theft.
