Abou El-Enein mourns death of Pope Francis

Parliament deputy speaker MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein mourned the death of pope Francis, who passed away this morning at the age of 88.
MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein wrote: 'I mourn with deep sadness and sorrow the death of His Holiness Pope Francis, who died today after a humanitarian journey filled with love and peace, brimming with giving and generosity, and an immortal journey in supporting humanitarian cooperation and dialogue among religions and civilizations, and spreading the values of tolerance and justice among all societies in the world.
"Peace be upon the soul of Pope Francis, who lived for peace, calling for it and striving to spread it and empower it on the earth. His stances remain immortal in the human conscience, foremost among them his support for the Palestinian cause, with free and sacred calls to end the war and conflict, grant the Palestinians their legitimate rights, and establish their independent state."
" Peace be upon the soul of an icon of peace and love. His memory will always shine in every scene of support for truth, justice, and humanity. His spirit will be present in the conscience and hearts of all peoples struggling for peace, and his name will be immortalized in the annals of righteousness and humanity.
He added, "We offer our sincere condolences to the Vatican, the Catholic Church, and the entire world over the death of this great symbol and wise voice. We pray to God to make his path a path of guidance to love, tolerance, and peace."

CAIRO, June 28 (MENA) - Egypt strongly condemned the repeated attacks carried out by Israeli settlers against innocent Palestinian civilians in several towns and villages across the occupied West Bank, the most recent of which resulted in the killing and injury of a number of Palestinians in the village of Kafr Malik. Egypt affirmed that there is no doubt these systematic assaults against the Palestinian people constitute a blatant violation of international law and the four Geneva Conventions. These attacks also undermine all efforts aimed at achieving security, peace, and stability. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration on Saturday, Egypt emphasized the urgent need for the international community to take action to put an end to these blatant violations and to assume its responsibility in confronting the ongoing injustices faced by the Palestinian people under the occupation. Egypt reiterated its firm position that all Israeli settlements in the occupied Arab territories are illegal and represent a major obstacle to reaching a just settlement of the Palestinian cause, added the statement. Egypt reaffirmed its full support for the brotherly Palestinian people in achieving their legitimate aspirations to establish an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Qatar sees 'window of opportunity' for Gaza truce: Spokesman - War on Gaza
Qatar's foreign ministry said on Friday that mediators are engaging with both Israel and Hamas to build on momentum from this week's ceasefire with Iran and push for a truce in the Gaza Strip. 'If we don't utilise this window of opportunity and this momentum, it's an opportunity lost amongst many in the near past. We don't want to see that again,' spokesman Majed al-Ansari told AFP. The Qatari statement came shortly after US President Donald Trump said a ceasefire in Gaza could be reached 'within the next week'. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said: 'We think within the next week we're going to get a ceasefire. We're working on Gaza and trying to get it taken care of.' The United States brokered a temporary ceasefire during the final days of Joe Biden's presidency, with involvement from Trump's incoming administration. That agreement collapsed in March when Israel resumed its war on Gaza, launching a wave of air and ground attacks that killed more than 400 people in the first days alone. Since then, Israeli bombardments have continued across the Gaza Strip. According to Gaza's health ministry, 6,008 Palestinians have been killed and 20,591 wounded since Israel resumed strikes on 18 March.
