Ravi Kishan's mother was sure his father would kill him, asked him to run away from home: ‘He would beat me everyday… I didn't cry when he died'
In a recent podcast with Raj Shamani, Ravi Kishan opened up about his terrifying childhood. 'I was trying to prove to my father that I was worth loving,' shared Ravi Kishan. Recalling his relationship with his father, the actor shared, 'He would often think I was nalayak (useless), and I wanted to prove that I wasn't. He was a priest. Intelligent. He was a proud Brahmin.'
'I once asked him, why do you pray so much? At the end of the day, you are still wearing a torn piece of cloth and have a broken cycle.' This made him angry and he hit me very hard.
Ravi then shared it was an everyday affair. 'He would beat me up every day.' He called it fun. He explained, 'Because my dad never spoke to me or pampered me, I would feel him hitting me is the closest to loving me and communicating.'
Ravi's dad was very possessive about his image and was dead against Ravi Kishan's love for acting. 'I used to take part in plays in the village. I played the role of Goddess Sita and often wore my mother's saree. This gave him a fit (of anger). He went crazy. He told me, 'Have you gone crazy, do you want to become a nachaniya (a degrading word for artistes).' He wanted me to do farming and sell milk.'
His dad's aggression once pushed him to leave the house. 'One day my dad hit me so hard that I had to run away. That day, my mom gave me Rs 500 and said, 'Please go, otherwise he will kill you today.''
After leaving his house, Ravi Kishan tried his luck in Bollywood, but it wasn't fruitful. He would often land small roles and producers always denied him money. They would threaten to cut his screen time if he demanded fees. He had to choose between money and work. After struggling for 10 years in the Hindi film industry, he entered the Bhojpuri industry, which shot him to regional fame (mostly UP and Bihar). It was only after this that his father began to respect him.
'My dad started to respect me after I started to earn a lot of money… when I started giving him air tickets to visit me. After I gave him best of clothes, a good car, and a bungalow. One day he started crying and said, 'Please forgive me. I always misunderstood you.' I fell on his feet and said, 'Please, don't do this.' I saw God in him.'

Even when their relationship started to take a healthy turn, Ravi still felt under confident around his father. 'I just longed for his love. All I wanted was him to hug me once and not think that I am useless. It was only when he grew old, I could be clingy with him. My fear reduced because he was weak. It was a high when I put my arms across his shoulder. With age, he become my child and I became his father.'
During this time, the actor gained the courage to question his father: 'Why did you hit me so much?' His dad replied, 'I thought you would do something wrong.' The actor shared, 'He mostly beat me fearing I might do something wrong. He would randomly smell my mouth and assume I have had alcohol. But, it never was the case. This culture didn't exist then. But he would always assume, 'What if you did'. Mujhe maar padti thi ki 'nalayak hojate toh?' He would always beat me in advance thinking I might end up doing something wrong.'
When success followed Ravi Kishan, his dad craved his presence. 'He would often cry and remember me and ask my mother to make him talk to me.'
While Ravi made peace with his dad's 'way of love', he still wishes he wasn't physically abusive.
'I would never teach my kids to physically abuse someone. I still think he could have communicated better than simply hitting me. But, I guess it was lack of awareness. One should never hit their children. One must talk. That's the approach I take towards my kids.'
In the same interview, Ravi Kishan shared that he didn't cry after his dad's passing. 'I was with him during his last days. When I realised he doesn't have too much time left, I flew him to Banaras in private jet. He died there. I never cried. I still cannot feel it. It will take me days to get over it and I don't know when those feelings will come out. I miss him in every breath.'

Mahavatar Narsimha Day 2 India Box Office Hindi: Hombale's cinematic epic grows by a shocking 150 percent; Adds Rs 3.35 crore
Mahavatar Narsimha, directed by Ashwin Kumar and produced by Hombale Films, after a super strong first day where it netted Rs 1.35 crore in Hindi, showed astronomical 140-150 percent growth on day 2. With Rs 3.25 - 3.45 crore net on day 2, the two day cume of the movie stands at Rs 4.70 crore. The movie has not just grown in Hindi but all the other languages that it is playing in, as well. The Day Wise Hindi Net Collections Of Mahavatar Narsimha Are As Under Mahavatar Narsimha Will Post Its Biggest Single Day Collections On 1st Sunday On Sunday, Mahavatar Narsimha is expected to register its biggest single day. Based on its trend, the day 3 collections may end up being higher than the sum of the first and the second day. The trend also suggests a sort of a breakout where Monday collections will be well higher than the opening day and also likely first Saturday. It's too early to confirm that the same will happen, but there sure are very visible indications to deduce the same. In today's day and age, if a film gets the approval of the audience, it trends spectacularly. We saw it last week with Saiyaara, which is putting up identical collections as its first weekend, in its second, and then there of course was Chhaava, which really showed the potential of a well-received religion-based historical epic. Mahavatar Narsimha Is Acting As A Living Proof That Animated Movies Can Work At The Box Office The biggest takeaway from Mahavatar Narsimha's run is the acceptance of the audience to watch animated content. Animated films are usually seen as films for children but this movie looks to break that myth. Hopefully, with the success of this movie, there will be an influx of more animated films. Hombale Films itself has a slate of 6 animated films from the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe, that shall release in the next decade or so. Animated Films Should Get Mainstream Attention In India Hollywood's animated films have always got mainstream attention in their home markets, and now China's highest grossing film is also an animated film, Ne Zha 2. Japan has always had a bigger market for animes than the conventional films. It's about time that Indian audiences also jump on this bandwagon so that there can be more individual voices to tell stories using the animated mediun. One doesn't necessarily have to rely upon a hero, to make and sell their films. The story and the acceptance shall do the talking.

Meet actress who started her career with Mahesh Babu at 24, played a surrogate mom at 31, is a National Award winner, her name is....
Before the lights, fame, and awards, Kriti Sanon stood teary-eyed in the middle of a ramp walk, humiliated, shaken, but quietly determined to rise. Today, she's a celebrated actor, a National Award winner, and a rising force in Bollywood, but her journey wasn't all red carpets and spotlights. From a middle-class dreamer to the big screen Born on July 27, 1990, into a humble middle-class family, her father a chartered accountant, her mother a professor, Kriti always dreamed of cinema. She started her film journey in 2014 opposite Mahesh Babu in the Telugu film 1: Nenokkadine, which earned her praise and set her path toward Bollywood. That same year, she made her Hindi debut with Heropanti, co-starring Tiger Shroff. The audience noticed her, and soon, so did the industry. But success didn't come without scars In an early modelling assignment at a farmhouse, Kriti's heel sank into wet soil mid-ramp walk. What followed was a public scolding by her choreographer in front of a crowd. 'I felt humiliated… I cried right there,' she shared in an interview. But instead of breaking her, the moment pushed her harder. 'It made me more focused,' she recalled. 'Mimi' changed everything Though films like Dilwale, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Luka Chuppi, and Raabta built her reputation, it was Mimi (2021), where she played a surrogate mother, that earned Kriti her first National Film Award. Her portrayal was powerful, emotional, and career-defining. Where is she now? At 35, Kriti has worked with some of the industry's biggest names and even turned producer with her upcoming film Do Patti. She's starred in Adipurush, Bhediya, Ganapath, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, and Shehzada, proving her versatility and command over the screen.
