'He was calling it over and over again, he just wouldn't stop – I think it was in response to getting tackled,' he told the outlet.
'It was scary. You don't normally see this stuff happen in Moonee Ponds so it was pretty confronting.'
Police said there was no ongoing threat and the incident was not terror-related.
'There is nothing to indicate that any ideology is the motive behind the attack at this early stage in the investigation,' police said.

Music teacher on trial for child sexual abuse

A music teacher allegedly dared two teenage girls to kiss each other and texted one of them 'I love you, I'm so happy,' a court has heard. Janelle Colville Fletcher is standing trial in the South Australian District Court, having pleaded not guilty to grooming two girls and sexually abusing one of them while in a position of authority. She is alleged to have abused the girl in various locations some years ago and to have communicated with her and another teenage girl to make them amenable to sexual activity. In his opening statement, prosecutor Chris Allen argued before Judge Joana Fuller that Ms Fletcher had engaged in 'two or more' sexual acts with one of the girls, who was aged in her mid to late teens when the alleged offending began. Ms Fletcher leaves court in 2024 following an earlier appearance. She is contesting the allegations and her trial started at the South Australian District Court on Thursday. NewsWire Credit: News Corp Australia Some of the alleged offending happened when the two girls and Ms Fletcher were alone together in a room, the prosecution said. In one instance, the prosecution allege Ms Fletcher, 40, was alone in a room with the two girls and performed a lap dance on a chair. She then allegedly 'dared' the two girls to kiss each other and asked if they would 'date' each other. That same night, Mr Allen said Ms Fletcher then spent time alone with one of the girls and touched her genital area. The alleged grooming and abuse of the girl then went on for months, the prosecution said. Ms Fletcher exchanged text messages and emails with the girl, writing 'I'm so in love with you, you make me so happy', the prosecution said. She is also alleged to have texted: 'Right now we can't be open. We have to continue as we are, in secret … I don't know if that is fair on you.' The abuse happened at residential properties and in a car, the prosecution claimed. There was also a 'movie night', where the two of them took photographs together and kissed, Mr Allen said. Ms Fletcher worked as a music teacher. Supplied Credit: Supplied The prosecution alleged Ms Fletcher offered 'numerous gifts' to the girl on her birthday. Ms Fletcher also actively tried to hide her behaviour, the prosecution argued, in one case instructing the girl to alter her name in her phone contact book. The girl ended the relationship after some months, the court heard. Both of Ms Fletcher's alleged victims are expected to give evidence at the trial. Ms Fletcher, from Trinity Gardens in Adelaide's inner east, was formerly the head of music at Tabor College, but she no longer works there. The alleged offending does not relate to Tabor College. The trial continues.

Ex-jockey in court over burglary charges

A jockey and his ex-lawyer associate are alleged to have tried to steal thousands of dollars of costume jewellery from an inner-city home, a court has been told. Champion jockey Daniel Nikolic, 50, and former lawyer Patrick Lennon, 61, fronted the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday over the alleged illegal entry of a home in Carlton in January. Charge sheets alleged the pair broke into the property at 2am while in possession of a ladder, gloves and a torch, stealing 'multiple bags of jewellery' worth $177,000 and a Toyota HiLux. The pair are yet to enter pleas, and both face three charges; trespassing with intent to steal, stealing a HiLux, and having a ladder, gloves and a torch for use in a burglary. Both men appeared by video link on Thursday following chaotic scenes outside court at their last appearance. Mr Lennon's lawyer, Stephen Adrianakis, revealed the valuables in question were Chanel costume jewellery. Mr Adrianakis expected the jewellery to be worth about $50,000, far less than the prosecution estimates, and asked for an adjournment so the prosecutors can meticulously itemise the goods. 'We need to come to a sensible valuation,' he said. Neither Daniel Nikolic or Patrick Lennon were required to front court in person on Thursday. NewsWire / David Mariuz Credit: News Corp Australia The defence lawyer also flagged he and Mr Nikolic's lawyer were taking 'significant' issue with the police's evidence chain of custody. 'If this were a drug case where the drugs were allowed to be left at the property and handled by the complainant…,' Mr Adrianakis began, before being cut off by the magistrate. Magistrate Belinda Wallington requested the public prosecutor provide an item-by-item glossary of photos and invoices for each allegedly stolen item by August 24. The magistrate gave the defence lawyers four weeks to take those price estimates to their valuers, and the matter was scheduled to be recalled on September 23. Mr Nikolic rode a winner to claim the prestigious Caulfield Cup in 2003, plus a host of elite first-grade winners in the 1990s and 2000s. A former lawyer, Mr Lennon was arrested with more than 10 grams of methamphetamine in his bag but avoided a conviction in 2024 on the possession charge, being placed on a good behaviour bond.

Qantas' next move after cyber attack

Qantas has filed court action in a bid to stop the compromised data of 5.7 million customers being accessed or released following a cyber attack. The accounts of 5.7 million Qantas customers were compromised in a data breach of one of the airline's call centres on June 30. The data affected varied from person to person but included a combination of business and residential addresses of 1.3 million accounts, the phone numbers attached to 900,000 accounts, and dates of birth connected to 1.1 million accounts. The majority of the compromised data included customer records limited to the names, addresses, and Frequent Flyer details of customers. The airline has confirmed that there was no evidence of any personal data being released, and no credit card or passport details or personal financial information had been accessed. Credit: News Corp Australia Further, no passwords, PINs and login details of Frequent Flyer accounts were compromised, with the airline stating the stolen data wasn't enough to access accounts. Qantas was on Thursday granted an interim injunction in the NSW Supreme Court in an attempt to stop the data from being accessed or released. 'In an effort to further protect affected customers, the airline has today obtained an interim injunction in the NSW Supreme Court to prevent the stolen data from being accessed, viewed, released, used, transmitted or published by anyone, including by any third parties,' a Qantas statement read. 'We want to do all we can to protect our customers' personal information and believe this was an important next course of action.' Qantas Group chief executive officer Vanessa Hudson last week said the airline was informing customers of what data was in the compromised system and providing advice on support services. 'Our absolute focus since the incident has been to understand what data has been compromised for each of the 5.7 million impacted customers and to share this with them as soon as possible,' Ms Hudson said. 'Since the incident, we have put in place a number of additional cybersecurity measures to further protect our customers' data and are continuing to review what happened. 'We remain in constant contact with the National Cyber Security Co-ordinator, Australian Cyber Security Centre and the Australian Federal Police. I would like to thank the various agencies and the federal government for their continued support.' Qantas said there was no evidence of any personal data being released NewsWire / David Swift Credit: News Corp Australia Affected customers are able to call the dedicated support line on 1800 971 541, or 02 8028 0534. 'This service remains available 24/7 and customers have access to specialist identity protection advice and resources through this team,' Qantas said in a statement. Customers have been urged to remain vigilant, particularly with any email, texts and phone calls that purport to be from Qantas, and to not provide online account passwords or any personal or financial information. 'We are aware of increased reports of scammers impersonating Qantas. We recommend customers remain alert for unusual communications claiming to be from Qantas or requesting personal information or passwords,' a Qantas statement read. 'Qantas will never contact customers requesting passwords, booking reference details or sensitive login information.' Additionally, customers were advised to contact Scamwatch if they believed they had been targeted by scammers.
