Report: 49th pick Tyrese Proctor inks 4-year, $8.69M contract with Cavaliers
Just In: The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed No. 49 overall pick Tyrese Proctor to a four-year, $8.69 million deal, league sources told @hoopshype. The first two seasons are fully guaranteed, third-year significant partial guarantee, and a fourth-year team option. Former Duke guard Tyrese Proctor, the No. 49 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, signed a multiyear contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, the team announced. Proctor was a third-team All-ACC selection last season, averaging 12.4 points, three rebounds and 2.2 assists on 40.5% shooting from 3-point range in 38 games as a junior. He led the Blue Devils with 89 3-pointers, ranking third in the conference. The 6-foot-5 Australian reportedly agreed to a four-year, $8.69 million contract, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. The first two years are guaranteed on the contract, which includes a significant guarantee in the third year and a team option in the fourth year. Proctor finished in double figures 26 times last season, including four 20-point performances. He produced a season-high 25 points and two assists on March 23 in a win over Baylor in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The 21-year-old helped Duke qualify for the NCAA Tournament each year while with the program, including a run to the Final Four this year. He established himself as an impact player at both ends of the court, traits that stood out to the Cavaliers in the draft. Proctor is expected to suit up with the Cavaliers for at least five games in the NBA Summer League, beginning on July 10 against the Indiana Pacers (5 p.m. EDT, NBA TV).

Santi Aldama agrees to three-year contract extension with Memphis Grizzlies
Santi Aldama is expected to sign a three-year extension to remain with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to a June 30 report from ESPN. The new deal is expected to be worth $52 million. The NBA free agency period opened at 5 p.m. CT on June 30. Teams may talk with players and come to an agreement, but contracts cannot be signed until July 6. Advertisement Aldama, a 6-foot-11 forward, was acquired by Memphis in the 2021 NBA Draft with the 30th overall pick. He has worked his way into one of the team's best scorers in a reserve role. He averaged a career-high 12.5 points and 6.4 rebounds in the 2024-25 season. Memphis is losing 3-point shooting after Desmond Bane was traded, and Luke Kennard reportedly will sign with the Atlanta Hawks. That made bringing back Aldama even more important. He shot 37.5% on 3-pointers last season, making two per game. Damichael Cole is the Memphis Grizzlies beat writer for The Commercial Appeal. Memphis Grizzlies, Jaren Jackson Jr. agree to five-year extension
The Memphis Grizzlies and Jaren Jackson Jr. have reached an agreement on a new five-year extension, according to a report from ESPN. Jackson was expected to renegotiate the last season on his current contract and sign a new deal worth $240 million for the next five seasons. That deal would make Jackson the highest-paid Grizzlies player in franchise history. Advertisement Extending Jackson was the top priority for the Grizzlies this offseason. Without Jackson being named All-NBA, he was not eligible for a five-year supermax extension that would have been worth roughly $345 million. So the Grizzlies have had to get creative in finding a route to secure an extension before he potentially reached free agency in 2026. Memphis is entering the free agency period, which began June 30, with salary cap space. That was made possible after it traded Marcus Smart at the February trade deadline, then renounced the rights to free agents Marvin Bagley III and Luke Kennard. Jackson's new deal is expected to begin during the 2025-26 season. Advertisement In seven seasons, he has become a two-time All-Star and made three NBA All-Defensive teams while turning into a much improved scorer. Memphis will now continue to build its roster around Jackson and Ja Morant for the foreseeable future. Along with a draft class centered on defensive intensity, the team is reportedly signing Cam Spencer and Santi Aldama to new contracts.
