Inaugural Strathaven Beer Festival draws in over 1000 revellers
The inaugura l Strathaven Beer Festival took place at the weekend - with over 1000 revellers enjoying the event.
And not even a downpour mid-way through could dampen the spirits of most beer enthusiasts, as the festival site stayed busy until the end.
Organised by the team behind the award-winning Eaglesham Beer Fest, the gathering showcased some of Scotland's best craft brewers and drinks brands.
It was supported by lip-smacking street food and fantastic live music, which kept Strathaven's hardy souls warm and entertained during the two bouts of rain.
Organiser Fraser Wilson told Lanarkshire Live: 'We are so grateful to the people of Strathaven for welcoming us into the town for the event, which we think was a roaring success.
'We had sold over 1100 briefs for our first event and over 85 per cent of those ticket holders attended - that doesn't include those who bought on the day, or children.
'For the most, we rode our luck and the weather was fine - sunny in parts, even. But at around 3.20pm there was an hour of pretty miserable rain and most people ran for cover, with a few calling it a day.'
But the bad weather couldn't stop the party, with live music from Zack Dale and Underdog keeping spirits up.
And those spirits went through the roof when teen-singing sensation Connor Fyfe had the large marquee rocking.
That was mirrored in the large Scout tent by John McLarnon, who made the most of his ad hoc staging to put on a fabulous singalong.
Let's Get Eclectic brought the house down with a superb DJ set, which sent revellers into the Strathaven evening to enjoy hospitality elsewhere.
Fraser added: 'We're really chuffed at how it went and are really keen to hear people's feedback.
'If it's something that people enjoyed, feel the town benefitted from and want to see return, then we'd be happy to look into Strathaven Beer Fest 2026.
"We want to say a huge thank you to the Strathaven business community, Scouts, Avondale Radio, and Balloon Festival team for their support during our preparations.'

The festival for dogs that is coming to Glasgow
The entertainment is booked, the food is on site and the health and safety checks have taken there is a difference to Glasgow's newest festival - it's all for first ever Bark Love will be held at SWG3 on Sunday, with everything from DJs playing "dog-friendly sets" to workshops on grooming and pampering owners of the day's star attractions will be catered for too, but the focus of the event is primarily on paws. The event is the brainchild of Jenn-Nimmo Smith, a dog enthusiast who owns both an excitable golden retriever called Scout and a music PR company."About 18 months ago I thought about doing something where I could combine my lifelong love of dogs and my experience working at events," she says. "I wanted to do something different, for the urban dog. There's so many events in the countryside but I wanted to do something in the city, with indoor and outdoor options." 'My dog was honestly a life saver' The plan progressed quickly, though within months Jenn was being given paws for thought by various logistical them was getting artificial grass sorted to turn the venue's courtyard into a play area, and another was checking there was a good number of water stations brought in, to make sure no dog would be thirsty on the day."There's definitely more things to take into account when you're thinking of dogs," she says. "What's in their sight level? What can they see on the ground? How is the flow of movement outdoors going to be? We've worked to position things the best way for humans and dogs so it's the safest, most comfortable experience."Jenn's passion for dogs goes back to her childhood, with a family springer spaniel Bracken and a golden retriever owned by her gran. However, as an adult she feels Scout - who was a ring bearer at her wedding - has been important in her life in a number of different ways."With dogs there's that constant love, but also they're there with difficult times. "I lost my dad seven years ago and we got Scout that year. She was honestly a life saver. "When you're grieving, waking up to see that happy furry face, and someone that loves you unconditionally, is so important. It also means you need to leave the house, you need to take them for a walk – it gives you a routine in a really hard time." Scout's family ties have continued since then. Jenn's mum is now in a care home, and when Jenn visits she makes sure to bring her pal with her."My mum's a massive dog lover and now there's other residents in the care home who we must go and visit when we're in too, because they love seeing her. "I think being in a care home, when Scout recognises and you see their faces brighten, it's really lovely."Jenn says she hopes Sunday will have an equally sweet vibe to the will mix practical aspects, like a marketplace with around 30 stalls and all sorts of food and drink, with more surprising offers - like the chance to have a tarot card reading for you and your includes a dog show, a collaboration with the Yard Works graffiti art studio called Bark Works featuring live murals being painted, and a steady flow of dog friendly tunes played by latter does not mean Dog Days Are Over, Who Let the Dogs Out and I Wanna Be Your Dog on a loop, though."My background is music, so there was always going to be an element of that, laughs Jenn."For DJ sets think ambient, Balearic beat tunes – nothing too intense, just something to ease you through the day. So not a full on rave..." And just like any music festival, Jenn is keen to ensure those attending have plenty to make some noise about."Someone was saying to me they've just had to put their dog to sleep at 17 – Scout's eight and I just want her to live forever. "Bracken died in my 20s and I didn't get Scout until my early 30s. You know the day will come but it's also unthinkable. "Scout's a part of the family. Their life spans are short but that's why I want to bring her as many places as I can and keep her happy and healthy."

Charity cup raises £5000 for mental health in memory of 18-year-old Alex Lindsay
Set up by Alex's family after the teen suddenly and unexpectedly took his own life, Adored aims to keep his memory alive while helping young men who are struggling with their mental health. The sun shone as family and friends gathered for the annual Alex Lindsay Cup and raised over £5000 in memory of the popular East Kilbride teen. Marking seven years since the tragic passing of 18-year-old Alexander Iain Bonomy-Lindsay, the tournament kicked off on June 29 at the Enviro-Clean Stadium at Kirktonholme pitches - home to EKYM and EKYC. Sixteen teams turned out for the charity match raising more than £5329 for the family's dedicated mental health charity set up in Alex's name, Adored. Download the Lanarkshire Live app today The standard of football on display was the best the tournament has seen in its seven-year history with 'The Other Team' winning the trophy beating the EK Rolls-Royce 'The Rollies' 1-0. Alex's mum Jill said: "It was a fabulous day compounded by the excellent weather, making the event a great family day. "Sixteen teams took part and it was great to see the tournament evolving with both younger and women's teams taking part. "The after party continued in the clubhouse where players and supporters were entertained with live music from Ross Martin and duo Pat and Andy. Raffle prizes were drawn and everyone enjoyed a well earned drink and buffet. "The day has drawn a whopping £5329 with some donations still incoming. This money will be donated to Adored SCIO mental health charity which was set up in Alex's name after his passing in 2018." Set up by Alex's family after the teen suddenly and unexpectedly took his own life, Adored aims to keep his memory alive while helping young men who are struggling with their mental health. Inspired by his favourite song, I Wanna be Adored, by The Stone Roses, the cause was established with a focus on mental health and saving young lives. Now an annual celebration of Alex's life, the tournament has raised tens of thousands of pounds for mental health charities including Adored and Beautiful Inside and Out. The charity provides individual and group support for mental health in conjunction with No Limits Coaching and this year has provided support in Calderglen High, St Andrew's and St Bride's High and Duncanrig Secondary. Adored now plans to extend the support across South Lanarkshire schools incorporating events in other learning communities. Jill added: "Thanks goes to those at Enviro-Clean grounds for providing the venue free of charge, and for their kind donation, and to all those who helped on the day with set up and organisation. "Thanks to Mr Bell from Calderglen High School who hasn't missed a tournament and who helped by refereeing this year. And as always thanks to Jack Smith (Alex's friend) whose dedication to keeping the tournament going each year is second to none." Remembering her beloved boy, Jill added: "The day as always evokes many emotions , but for me the overriding sense of pride was immense. "Alex was a larger than life character and it brings myself and the family much comfort to see that, despite his absence, his life is not forgotten and can hopefully bring some help to those suffering from mental health difficulties." Thanks go to local businesses who kindly donated prizes for the raffles, including: Ricos, The Detailing Company, Funktional Fitness, Soul Suites, Fresh Barbers, 1127, Beauty by Nic, Connelly Coaching, A1 Tyres, Pergola, Arigo, Bica, D'lish, Once Upon a Table and Zucca. *Don't miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire.
