Itauma vs Whyte official for Aug. 16 in Riyadh
As revealed over the weekend, Moses Itauma will face Dillian Whyte in the main event of an August 16th Riyadh show that accompanies the Esports World Cup.
Itauma (12-0, 10 KO) is the heavyweight division's top prospect at just 20 years of age, demolishing his last eight opponents in under two rounds apiece. Whyte (31-3, 21 KO) is by far his most noteworthy opponent to date, but it's an open question whether he's the best; his only wins in the last 2.5 years came over professional loser Christian Hammer and the similarly hapless Ebenezer Tetteh, whom he took seven full rounds to beat when Daniel Dubois and Frazer Clarke each needed less than one.

The co-feature sees Nick Ball (22-0-1, 13 KO) defend his WBA belt against a third consecutive super bantamweight in former IBF mandatory challenger Sam Goodman (20-0, 8 KO). It's a markedly less interesting matchup than Ball's proposed clash with Luis Nery.
The real standout bout pits the resurgent Anthony Cacace (24-1, 9 KO) against Raymond Ford (17-1-1, 8 KO) in one of the best super featherweight bouts you could make without a belt on the line. Heavyweight contender FIlip Hrgovic (18-1, 14 KO) also sees action against British champ David Adeleye (14-1, 13 KO) and super-prospect Hayato Tstutsumi (7-0, 4 KO) steps way back in competition against Qais Ashfaq (13-3-1, 5 KO).

British wildcard Sonay Kartal upsets Jelena Ostapenko in Wimbledon first round
Six days after Sonay Kartal was beaten in straight sets by Jelena Ostapenko at Eastbourne, the British No. 3 and Wimbledon wildcard recorded a shock victory over her seeded opponent at the All England Club. The 23-year-old established herself on the grass courts of SW19 last year, when she battled her way to the third round of the major ranked No. 298 in the world, before going out to Coco Gauff. The early signs show Kartal is, once again, well up for putting on a show in front of her home crowd, and a run in the tournament could well see her break into the top 50. Advertisement In the unforgiving heat amid a British heatwave promising opening-day temperatures of 88 degrees (31C), Kartal restricted Ostapenko's trademark, flat-hitting power to impose her own tricky game on the Latvian, holding firm in some nervy moments to earn one of her most impressive career victory to date. 'That was one of the toughest matches I have played. I struggle against the big hitters, she beat me easily last week,' Kartal said courtside. 'Thank you for everyone for coming out. 'After the year I had last year (reaching the third round at Wimbledon last year), I am happy to put myself under pressure to succeed. Last year I left this tournament feeling a different player. I want to see how far I can go this week.' Kartal immediately fell a break behind in the opening set and was held to 5-3 behind. With Ostapenko serving for the opener, the Brit clawed her way back into contention, breaking to 15 and at 5-4, claimed a mammoth hold after saving three set points. With the momentum on her side, Kartal charged ahead, claiming another break and holding to 15 for the set. Ostapenko responded well, and perhaps looked to make her superior ranking tell, romping to parity by taking the second set within 33 minutes. Two straightforward breaks was enough to level the match, and seemingly putting herself in pole position for the match. Kartal, however, dominated the following proceedings. With three consecutive breaks, she found herself in a near insurmountable match-winning position. Serving for a bagel set, the wildcard appeared to let the pressure show as she was broken to 15 in a nervy-looking few moments. But despite Ostapenko's subsequent hold, the world No. 21 could not prevent the Brit inevitably sealing the match on serve. The jubilant crowd on the No. 2 Court jumped to their feet following the first British success story of the tournament. Kartal's victory over Daria Kasatkina at Queen's earlier this month represented just her second win over top 20 opposition. While Ostapenko is ranked just one place outside that category, it represents a big scalp for the Brit, and Viktoriya Tomova now stands in her way of matching last year's breakthrough Wimbledon run. Lando Norris urges Silverstone fans not to give Oscar Piastri hostile reception
Lando Norris has called on the Silverstone crowd not to cast world championship rival Oscar Piastri as a villain at Sunday's British Grand Prix. Norris will head into his home race off the back of a morale-boosting victory in Austria which took him to within 15 points of McLaren team-mate Piastri in the title race. Advertisement Norris and Piastri went toe-to-toe at Spielberg's Red Bull Ring and, such is their advantage over their competitors, the McLaren drivers will again be expected to slug it out for victory in front of 150,000 spectators. Lando Norris will head to Silverstone fresh off the back of his victory in Austria (Darko Bandic/AP) The fans at Silverstone will largely be on Norris' side, with the 25-year-old selling out his own 10,000-capacity area at Stowe – renamed the Landostand which overlooks Stowe corner – for the first time. But when it was suggested to Australian Piastri that he could receive a hostile reception from the British crowd, Norris said: 'I certainly hope that doesn't happen. 'The British fans are normally very accepting for all of us, especially at McLaren, so the first point should be for the fans to support everyone.' Advertisement Piastri, who finished runner-up to Norris in Spielberg, added: 'A couple of years ago they were chanting my name and that was unexpected. 'I am not sure I will get that again, but they have always been very accepting of me. I race for a British team. 'Of course, I am expecting that there will be more Lando fans than there are for me, but that's fair enough.' Norris bounced back from his collision with Piastri at the Canadian Grand Prix by delivering an impressive display in Austria, landing an emphatic pole position before holding off his team-mate to take his third win of the year. The British driver has never triumphed in consecutive races. However, he will be desperate to rectify that statistic by securing a maiden home victory. Advertisement And McLaren team principal Andrea Stella is confident his driver, now a seven-time race winner, has the tools to do so. 'In terms of Lando being able to do that, yes, of course,' said Stella. 'There is absolutely no reason why not — the talent, the quality, the race craft and even the trajectory Lando is in. 'I am so very proud of Lando and how everyone handled the situation in Canada and the fact we came through it more united and stronger. But the most important thing (at Silverstone) is back-to-back victories for McLaren.'

Wales v Japan TV channel finally announced days before game as Eddie Jones refuses to move kick-off
BBC Wales and S4C will each show one of Wales' summer Tests from their tour of Japan next month - with the coverage being announced just days before Wales take on the Brave Blossoms. The first Test in Kitakyushu on July 5 will be shown on BBC One Wales, while the second Test the following week in Kobe will be broadcast by S4C. The first Test will kick-off at 6am UK time, with the second Test being slightly later at 6.50am. Advertisement It's understood S4C's coverage of the second Test will have English-language commentary available on the red button. WalesOnline understands that the BBC did try to move the kick-off back so that it wouldn't be so early in the UK. However, Brave Blossoms coach Eddie Jones has remained steadfast on the 2pm and 2.50pm local kick-off times. Advertisement The former England and Australia coach promised to "really run Wales off their feet" in the heat. The British and Irish Lions tour of Australia - with their warm-up matches against the Waratahs and Invitational AU & NZ side both on the same day as Wales' Tests in Japan - also made moving the kick-off time complicated, with the Lions matches kicking off at 11am UK time. An announcement had been expected on a TV deal last week, although the situation with the kick-off time is understood to have delayed things. Sign up to Inside Welsh rugby on Substack for the exclusive five-week tour diary from Wales in Japan and the Lions in Australia. A joint statement read: "BBC Cymru Wales and S4C have announced a new broadcast deal for the live free-to-air rights for the men's two-Test tour of Japan this July. Advertisement "The first match takes place at the Mikuni World Stadium in Kitakyushu on Saturday 5 July (KO 6am) and will be broadcast live on BBC One Wales and BBC iPlayer, with coverage starting at 5:45am. "The second Test takes place at the Noevir Stadium in Kobe on Saturday 12 July (KO 6:50am), and will be broadcast live on S4C, S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer from 6:30am. English language commentary will also be available on S4C Clic and on TV via the red button. "Sarra Elgan will present both games across the BBC and S4C. Commentary on Scrum V Live will be provided by Gareth Rhys Owen and Richie Rees, with guests including Alun Wyn Jones and Rhys Patchell. "On S4C, Ken Owens and Rhys Patchell will join Sarra Elgan for Clwb Rygbi, with commentary from Cennydd Davies and Gwyn Jones. Gareth Rhys Owen and Richie Rees will be on the Red Button. Advertisement Sarra Elgan said: "It's a privilege to be part of the coverage for Wales' summer series in Japan across both BBC and S4C. 'These matches are a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience ahead of an all important Autumn season. Wales may not have had the results they wanted recently, but there's still plenty to be encouraged by and a chance to grow as a group. 'This tour is a chance for individuals to develop and make an impression. I'm looking forward to bringing the action, insights, and atmosphere to supporters back home, whether they're watching in English or Welsh." Abi Tierney, CEO of Welsh Rugby Union, said: "We're delighted to confirm BBC Cymru Wales and S4C as our broadcast partners for the senior men's international summer tour to Japan. Advertisement 'This partnership ensures our supporters can follow every moment of the action, whether they're watching in English or Welsh. It's especially important to us that we continue to champion the Welsh language and culture through our coverage, helping to bring the passion of Welsh rugby to audiences all over the world." This is the second year in a row that a summer tour in Japan has seen the TV broadcast deal go down to the wire. Last year, England played a Test in Japan before their two-Test tour of New Zealand. However, no broadcaster came forward to cover the Test before RugbyPass ultimately ended up showing the match.
