Sunrise's Sam Mac's gaffe as he reads the weather live on the breakfast show
Sunrise's Sam Mac always delivers when it comes to the weather.
But on Thursday, the beloved TV made a gaffe during his cross from Caloundra, on the Sunshine Coast.
Bubbly and lighthearted Mac accidentally said 'dollars' as he shared for the forecast for the nation's capitals, with him sharing seeing the funny side of moment.
Narrating the Sunrise clip, Mac said: 'Alright, I've been in this job for around nine years.
'The job is pretty straight forward. Essentially, you throw to the weather and read it off an iPad.
'Have a listen at what happened today.'
Mac played the clip, as he gave the weather update to viewers.
'In Canberra, morning frost, partly cloudy, a top of $11,' Mac said.
'11 degrees, wow, I've lost the plot... That's going to go down in history, it's been a long week.'
Ever the perfectionist, Mac was his own harshest critic.
'Dollars! Dollars! $11 dollars' Mac said, with his eyes widening.
'Dollars!' he finished.
Viewers are happy to see Sam back on the show, after he took some leave to spend time with his daughters earlier this month, Margot and Mabel.
Mac shared adorable clips of himself spending time with the girls.
'Today was my last day of dad leave,' he wrote, as his holidays ended.
'I'll share my thoughts on the experience in the coming days, but in the meantime, enjoy some incredible moments.'
Following his holidays, Mac came back with a beard, which he later shaved on the show.

'Sunrise enjoys a massive lead over Today, this week by more than 100,000 in a week of major news events. 'That's a headache for Nine, which knows that viewers are rusted-on and don't make the switch lightly.' The show continues to do well in WA, averaging a total TV audience of 41,000 in Perth, nearly three times higher than Today, which averages 14,000. 'We love our WA viewers, and with Nat, there's always been that special connection to the west,' Shirvington said. 'We love getting over there for Telethon, and we'll both be back again this year.' The ratings race between Today and Sunrise, which have both seen line-up changes, has widened in recent years. In 2023, Sarah Abo joined long-term host Karl Stefanovic as co-host of Today, replacing Allison Langdon who moved to A Current Affair. Knox said recent missteps at Today had not helped the cause. 'I don't think a recent visit to Dubai, broadcasting in the dead of night from a five-star resort did it any favours, especially when there were floods back home,' he said.

Sunrise's Sam Mac details exactly what a week in the life as a TV Weatherman involves
The most common questions I get asked about my job as the Sunrise Weatherman are: 'What time do you get up? How many flights do you do per year? And what's a low pressure system?' The answers in their respective order are: 3:47am Approximately 130 The opposite of a high pressure system I love my job. It's unpredictable and it's live, which is a dangerously fun combination. It's taken me around the world and introduced me to some unforgettable people. But, my oh my is it a wild ride! Sunrise viewers see me magically appear on their screens every morning from a different location. They rarely get an insight to the logistics of how it all happens (probably because logistics are generally a snoozefest). However this week was an absolute doozy, so I decided to take you behind the scenes. I travelled more than 6000kms this week and I'm now going to break it down in excruciating detail (predominantly as evidence so I get my per diems). The schedule is chaotic. It really is a blur. Some mornings when my alarm goes off at 3:47am it can take me a good thirty seconds to remember where I am. Often I can tell by looking at the hotel curtains - 'Ahh, Sofitel Brisbane, good to be back'. I learned early on in this role to embrace the absurdity. Every week is a unique adventure. This week for example, while some hosts were talking about the Iraq / Iran ceasefire, I was interviewing a chef about how to make the perfect scone. While some hosts were talking about interest rate cuts, I was interviewing a woman from the wearable arts festival in a dress made out of 500 chip packets. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
