Sunrise's Sam Mac makes accidental gaffe during TV broadcast

Sunrise's Sam Mac always delivers when it comes to the weather. But on Thursday, the beloved TV made a gaffe during his cross from Caloundra, on the Sunshine Coast. Bubbly and lighthearted Mac accidentally said 'dollars' as he shared for the forecast for the nation's capitals, with him sharing seeing the funny side of moment. Narrating the Sunrise clip, Mac said: 'Alright, I've been in this job for around nine years. 'The job is pretty straight forward. Essentially, you throw to the weather and read it off an iPad. 'Have a listen at what happened today.' Mac played the clip, as he gave the weather update to viewers. 'In Canberra, morning frost, partly cloudy, a top of $11,' Mac said. '11 degrees, wow, I've lost the plot... That's going to go down in history, it's been a long week.' Ever the perfectionist, Mac was his own harshest critic. 'Dollars! Dollars! $11 dollars' Mac said, with his eyes widening. 'Dollars!' he finished. Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac joked about an accidental gaffe while presenting the weather on the show earlier this week. Mac shared adorable clips of himself spending time with the girls. 'Today was my last day of dad leave,' he wrote, as his holidays ended. 'I'll share my thoughts on the experience in the coming days, but in the meantime, enjoy some incredible moments.' Following his holidays, Mac came back with a beard, which he later shaved on the show.

Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac channels legendary cartoon character with bold new look

Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac stunned viewers on Friday morning by channelling a legendary cartoon character with his bold new look. The Channel Seven veteran, 43, turned heads sporting a bold moustache and eye-catching green tee during his morning show appearance, paying homage to Ned Flanders from The Simpsons. Sam fully embraced the comparison, donning prescription glasses and playfully greeting viewers with Ned's iconic catchphrase: 'Hi-Diddly-Ho, neighbour! Okilly Dokilly.' He later shared an image of Ned Flanders waving to the camera alongside an image of him doing the same and captioned it with some amusing words. 'After repeated requests to remove the beard... I said okilly dokilly... and here I am back at work making a fresh start (borrowing the emoji's glasses). Ned Flanders? Or someone on a watch-list?,' Sam quipped. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The weatherman has developed a reputation for his cheeky behaviour both on and offscreen. Earlier this week, Sam left fans divided after retuning to Sunrise after a month off with a new look. On Monday, the beloved weatherman appeared on the Channel Seven morning show for the first time since he went on 'dad leave' in May. The TV regular, who shares Margot, two, and Mabel, ten months, with fiancée Rebecca James, debuted a beard which he had grown in his month away from the show. Prior to his first day back, Sam uploaded a picture to Instagram on Sunday telling fans that if the snap of his new facial hair got enough likes he would keep it. 'If this photo gets 10 thousand likes I'll keep the beard for my return to @sunriseon7 on Monday #DadLeaveBeard,' he captioned the post, which showed him holding onto his new bundle of joy. While the Instagram picture failed to garner enough likes before the show, his Facebook post did, resulting in Sam's return to his weatherman gig with a hairy chin. However, it seems many fans were actually not too pleased with the dad-of-two's new look. 'Very good to see Sam Mac back and showing why he is the best at weather. The beard was an interesting addition,' one person wrote on a Sunrise chat forum. In May, the TV weatherman took to Instagram to reveal he would be going on one month's leave. Posting a picture with baby Mabel, he went on to express how excited he was to spend some quality time with his young children. 'This guy is officially on "Dad Leave",' Sam, who welcomed his second child last August, captioned the post. 'So ridiculously excited to have some uninterrupted time with our darling Mabel. I did the same when Margot was a baby and have vivid memories of being there as she took her first steps. 'Now to have more time with her as a toddler is an added bonus (albeit a slightly terrifying one)' he added.

Waleed Aly's ‘emotional' reaction to Channel 10 axing The Project revealed

Carrie Bickmore has described her former The Project co-host Waleed Aly's 'emotional' response to Channel 10's decsion to axe the long running show. Channel 10 officially announced on Monday that the news and current affairs show is coming to an end after 16 years on air. Hosts including Sarah Harris and Waleed Aly later addressed the news during an awkward segment on the show that night. Speaking about the cancellation on her radio show, The Hit Network's Carrie & Tommy, on Tuesday, Bickmore revealed that she'd been in contact with Aly following the news going public. She shared that she had never seen him 'so emotional' in all the time they've known each other. 'I spoke to Waleed yesterday and I don't think I've ever heard him that emotional,' Bickmore said. 'He was so emotional about it. To Sarah, Sam, and Georgie, all the four hosts that have been on that desk. It's live. It was happening every night on air. It's never nice to find out your show is no longer, and I think there'll be a lot of people that miss having the company of those people on the screen.' Bickmore went on to share her own feelings about Channel 10's decision to axe the show, confessing that she feels 'sad' about its fate. 'I feel sad,' she continued. 'I don't want people to feel alone – and that's the power of TV and free-to-air TV. It's a thing that's dying. But we should be proud, 16 years of a live six-night-a-week TV show is phenomenal. I'm thinking of everyone there today. 'I've made so many friends on that show, and I'm thinking of them all today. Many of them are still there and had to hear the news yesterday that they don't have a job anymore. If you are looking for people to employ in this industry, they are some of the most talented people you will find. Their ability to pivot and cover light and shade and be on top of the news, finding a completely different angle is a certain suite of skill sets not a lot of people have,' she added. 'They're just bloody awesome people.'
