Carrie Bickmore is reprising her TV career in a quirky new way fans wouldn't expect.
The former The Project panellist, 44, will voice part of Aussie comedian Andy Lee's new children's series Do Not Watch This Show.
Do Not Watch This Show is the TV adaptation of Lee's best-selling Do Not Open This Book series and premiered on ABC earlier this month.
The beloved member of comedy duo Hamish and Andy lends his voice to the book's main character, a blue monster named Wizz, bringing him to life.
In 12 11-minute episodes, Lee takes viewers on an animated journey to keep kids entertained, all while urging them not to watch any further.
Bickmore has a cameo on the fun-filled series alongside fellow stars Dave Hughes as Goblin, Denise Scott as Tortoise, Joel Creasey as Lime, Kura Forrester as Kiwi, and appearances from Chrissie Swan and Hamish Blake.
It marks the first time the media personality will return to screens since she departed Channel 10's axed current affairs news program in 2022.
The role reunites her with longtime friends and former co-hosts in a funky new way, trading news bulletins for animated monster mayhem.
On Saturday, Lee said one of his favourite parts of producing the series was casting his celebrity pals for the roles he thought suited them best.
And while he's grateful for those involved in his special project, he feels bad for Carrie having an "ugly" character.
'I felt a bit bad when I sent Carrie what her character looked like because she plays a pretty ugly character," he told Yahoo Lifestyle.
"I told her, 'With the voice, we chose a different direction for how the character looks. It's not inspired by you!'.'
'Hughesy plays Goblin, and I just love the idea that, hopefully, if we can sell this around the world, that Hughesy's voice will be synonymous with a goblin,' he said.
The comedian said there also isn't a flamboyant character in children's television like Joel Creasey's, who owned his role as Lime.
It comes after Bickmore made a special appearance for the final episode of The Project, which concluded after six years and 4,500 episodes in June.
Appearing in the final 30 minutes of the episode, Bickmore said she had the "worst memory" of her best moments throughout the years.
Still, she said one highlight was spending time with Oprah during her visit to Australia.
"She took me backstage and spent a couple of minutes for me and it was tough time in my life and she was telling me that she was praying for me," she said.
Bickmore encouraged viewers to buy a beanie to support Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer after her late husband Greg Lange died following a 10-year battle with the disease.

Why Anchovy is a shining example of what makes Melbourne a great restaurant town

There's an abalone sandwich that showcases Le's playfulness with Australiana, the bouncy abalone meat a sweet stand-in for fried fish on soft white bread, complimented by the deep umami of anchovy mayo. A bright dish of prawns and papaya is accompanied by the prawniest prawn crackers you've ever had, a glory of crisp oceanic funk. As always, Lee is a very fun wine conversationalist, and her list is uncommonly attuned to the menu. The house riesling, made in collaboration with Victorian winemaker Sierra Reed, is especially good – you can sense it was engineered for this restaurant and this food. Anchovy is a profoundly human restaurant, for all kinds of reasons. Most of those reasons have to do with the creativity and deliciousness of the food and drink, and the genuine welcome you'll feel. It is a shining example of what makes Melbourne a great restaurant town, precisely because it is so imbued with the soul of its owners. It is not a slick machine – it is a deeply personal expression of place and culture and the sometimes messy but always fascinating intersection of passion and business.

Axed Channel 10 star Jonathan LaPaglia rumoured to host US version of Survivor after brutal sacking

Just days after he was brutally axed from Channel 10, Jonathan LaPaglia is rumoured to have bagged a new gig in the US. It was revealed last week that the current host of Survivor Australia had been informed over a 'cold' email that Channel 10 had decided the show needed a refresh and that he wouldn't be part of it. But now, LaPaglia could have the last laugh as rumours are swirling that he could be being lined up to replace US host, Jeff Probst, according to New Idea. LaPaglia and Probst are good mates, and have met up for dinner on numerous occasions, with the Australian previously confessing to being a huge fan of the US series. 'JLP is the best. I think a lot of the issue with Jeff is his evolution into this motivational speaker that none of us asked for. Jeff in the early days was more interesting to watch host. Not so much anymore,' remarked one fan amid the speculation. 'He's [JLP] my pick to for replacement host if Jeff retires,' another Survivor fan shared. Rumours of Probst's departure were further fuelled when he shared a video of himself advertising the 50th season of the show. Fans of the franchise were quick to remark that the long-running presenter looked 'unhappy' and 'over' his job, sparking suggestions that it could be his last season in front of the camera. Meanwhile, the rumours emerged after new details about how longtime Survivor host LaPaglia was axed from the Aussie version of the show. The Australian TV host, who has helmed the Channel 10 show since its revival in 2016, will not return as a presenter next year. LaPaglia initially made a statement telling fans that he had been 'blindsided' by the network, and now it's been claimed that the long-running star was informed of his sacking via a 'cold' email. 'He got an email first,' a source told Daily Mail. 'That was the initial comms from EndemolShine.' 'Then a call came from Ten, but by then it was already done. It's really not how you treat someone who's been part of the show for almost a decade.' To make matters worse, the source alleges that LaPaglia received the sudden email before he had finished filming Survivor: Australia vs. The World. The insider claimed that the decision to fire LaPaglia was 'locked in' for months, but in order to avoid any trouble during the filming of his latest season they wanted to wait until the show was complete.
