Phil's joy in EastEnders as Nigel returns to the Square - and a decision is made
Nigel moved back to Scotland with wife Julie Bates (Karen Henthorn) last week, after Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) contacted her with Nigel's whereabouts.
Julie had no idea that Nigel had left because he'd been diagnosed with young-onset dementia, and had taken to social media to try and track him down.
In tonight's episode, a confused Nigel made his way back to London, where Phil learnt that Julie had no idea where he was.
Thankfully, Callum Highway (Tony Clay) and Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) managed to track him down and bring him home.
With Nigel safe, Phil and Julie soon began to row about where Nigel should stay, before Nigel interrupted, insisting that it should be his decision.
To Phil's joy and relief, Nigel decided that he wanted to stay in Walford with him.
This was difficult for Julie to accept, but after some thinking she accepted that London was where Nigel felt most comfortable, and decided to set him free.
Meanwhile, Phil was also struggling, with his brain and heart having two different ideas about how best to deal with Nigel's sitaution.
Fortunately, Yolande was on hand to offer some solid advice when Phil pointed out that while Nigel didn't want to leave, he also didn't want to hurt Julie.
As Phil argued that Julie wasn't equipped to care for Nigel, Yolande suggested that she needed someone to guide her, which gave Phil an idea. More Trending
Following Julie's decision to leave Nigel with Phil, he revealed that she didn't have to go, and offered her the spare room so that she could stay with Nigel.
It was clear that Nigel was thrilled by this, as he immediately took her bags upstairs.

This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm or can be streamed now on iPlayer. Oscar Branning (Pierre Moullier) has turned on one of his own with a knife. As viewers of the soap know, the newbie is in hot water with some vicious thugs, after he tipped off the police about their involvement in the car robbery. The group's ringleader Mike (Tai Hilferink) had tried to petrol bomb Oscar's home, mistakenly targeting the neighbours instead. As a result he was kicked out by mum Tanya (Jo Joyner) and has settled in Albert Square since being released from a youth detention centre. So far he's proved himself to be quite the troublemaker; trying to scam Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), flirting with just about every man or woman he's crossed, and causing undue stress for his sister Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and her fiancé Peter Beale (Thomas Law). After discovering that his nephew Jimmy is visually impaired, fans saw a softer side to Oscar, who later volunteered to babysit his two nephews. Disaster struck when Mike let himself into the house, leaving a large kitchen knife jammed in the chopping board as a warning of what he was capable of. Louie, who had spotted Mike chatting with Oscar, asked if he was going to return again soon. A troubled Oscar was then forced to explain what had happened, and promised his sister that her sons weren't in danger. Later, after heading to the market for a shift, he spotted Mike and his mate Harrison lurking in the shadows. Knowing that it was high time this stopped, he pulled the lads to one side and tried to find a solution. Harrison swooped in from behind and punched him in the stomach, with Mike lifting a brick over Oscar's head. BBC's Strictly Come Dancing confirms two new dancers
American-born Alexis Warr and Australian-born Julian Caillon will join the hit dance competition series as it returns to BBC One and iPlayer this autumn. Warr, who is best known for winning the US dance series So You Think You Can Dance in 2022 and was crowned America's favourite dancer, became the first female ballroom and Latin dancer to claim the title. On joining Strictly Come Dancing, Warr said: 'I've admired Strictly for years, so joining this incredible family is such an honour. 'I can't wait to step into the ballroom, pour my heart into every moment, and share my love of dance with the UK.' Caillon, who specialises in ballroom and Latin American, has appeared as a professional dancer for three seasons of Australia's version of Strictly Come Dancing, titled Australia's Dancing With The Stars. He said: 'Joining the cast of Strictly really is a dream come true. 'I've watched it for years, especially cheering on all the amazing dancers I know and work with who've been part of it. 'I can't wait to get stuck in, have some fun, and be part of something special!' Who will be on Strictly 2025? The newcomers will join the current cast of professional dancers, which includes Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer and Katya Jones. Neil Jones will also return in the autumn along with Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk and Jowita Przystal. The new series, hosted by recent MBE recipients, Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, will also welcome back Johannes Radebe, Aljaz Skorjanec, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola. Warr and Caillon will join the professionals each week for group routines, music acts, theme weeks and Strictly's annual trip to Blackpool. Phil Collins, 74, admitted to hospital after clearing up ‘hospice' rumours
Earlier this year, Phil Collins revealed he has been 'very sick' but despite rumours, he has clarified he's not in a hospice – but is in hospital. Last week was a brutal one for music fans as we lost the iconic Ozzy Osbourne and jazz legend Chuck Mangione, as well as wrestler Hulk Hogan. Social media was rife with speculation about Phil's health, with a rumour that he was in a hospice (usually reserved for the terminally ill) spreading quickly among fans. Concerns for the 74-year-old musician have been growing since he officially retired in 2022 after Genesis ' farewell show. Phil's spokesperson has attempted to calm any worry surrounding the Genesis drummer's health, assuring TMZ he is 'nowhere near death'. Instead, the You'll Be In My Heart legend is in hospital for a knee operation — not in hospice care at all. The spokesperson did not specify any details about the knee operation but this is not the first surgery Phil has undergone. In 2007, the In The Air Tonight hitmaker suffered a spinal injury, resulting in his continuous struggle with severe nerve damage and deteriorating mobility. He had dislocated vertebrae in his neck while on tour with Genesis but after two surgeries — in 2009 and 2015 — Phil was reliant on a cane. The injury also resulted in numbness in his hands, meaning that by 2019, he was unable to hold drumsticks and had to retire. On top of this, in 2021, the Hall of Famer revealed he also had diabetes so his health was suffering as a result of that too. Speaking to Mojo magazine in their April issue, he shared: 'I keep thinking I should go downstairs to the studio and see what happens. Up Next 'But I'm not hungry for it anymore. The thing is, I've been sick, I mean very sick.' While Phil might not be desperate to record new music, he did sit down at a drum set for the first time in 15 years with the help of his son, Nic Collins. He was honoured in a documentary, Drummer First, which explored the Against All Odds hitmaker's life and legacy as a drummer. In the documentary trailer, he commented: 'It's still kind of sinking in a bit… I've spent all my life playing drums. To suddenly not be able to do that is a shock. 'If I can't do what I did as well as I did it, I'd rather relax and not do anything. If I wake up one day and I can hold a pair of drumsticks, then I will have a crack at it. ' I just feel like I've used up my air miles. It just feels so strange to hold a pair.' Phil was last publicly seen in May when he supported his son, Mathew, 20, at a football match. He plays for WSG Tirol II, which is the youth academy team of Austrian club WSG Tirol. Mathew posed with dad in the stands of the club's stadium, with the younger Collins family member still dressed in his green kit while Phil opted for a snuggly fleece. The caption read, 'Two big wins today!', hinting that his dad's attendance meant a lot in the face of the drummer's deteriorating health. Metro has reached out to Phil Collins' reps for comment.
