Kate Middleton shares that life wasn't the same for her after cancer fight: ‘The phase afterwards is really difficult'

Kate Middleton, months after announcing she was in remission, following abdominal surgery and a subsequent cancer diagnosis in early 2024, has revealed Kate Middleton discusses the emotional challenges of her cancer recovery, emphasizing the difficulty of adjusting post-treatment.(AFP)
The Daily Beast reported that in her first public remarks since abruptly pulling out of the Royal Ascot in June, which caused 'a real sense of panic' within the palace, Kate's team explained at the time that she skipped Ascot in the interest of 'balance.'
During a hospital garden visit on Wednesday, the Princess of Wales didn't directly address her absence, but expressed, 'You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment's done, then it's like, 'I can crack on, get back to normal,' but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult,' per People Magazine.

'You're not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you're not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to. And actually, someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable.'
'You have to find your new normal and that takes time... and it's a rollercoaster, it's not smooth, like you expect it to be. The reality is you go through hard times,' she added. Kate Middleton reassesses life after cancer
Kate finished chemotherapy in September 2024 and confirmed remission in January 2025. Her office said her latest garden visit was meant to 'celebrate the incredible healing power of nature and raise awareness of the important role that spending time in nature plays in bringing us joy and supporting our mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing.'
'Kate is recalibrating her entire life, her entire work-life balance,' one insider told The Daily Beast. 'Ascot was a wakeup call, not a one-off.'
'The last few years have been horrific; the disgusting things that Harry said about her and William and her family, the relentless speculation about her and William, the queen's death, the king's diagnosis which had them both thinking they were going to have to take over and then her own cancer diagnosis and treatment,' the source claimed.

'It's all taken its toll, and if she needs more time to recover, William will fight tooth and nail to see she is given it.'

Once bigger than Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, 'Hollywood's next big thing' was ruined by illness, forced into retirement

The 1980s was a decade of change for Hollywood. A crop of young blood came in, with newer actors trying to break out and make their mark. Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp went on to have mega-successful careers, while others like Charlie Sheen found their share of success as well. But for a brief period, there was an actor considered more promising than any of them. Yet, an illness derailed his career. Dubbed Hollywood's next best thing, this actor was forced into retirement due to an illness. How Hollywood's next big thing from the 80s fared Michael J Fox began his career as a child actor in the 70s before finding his break with the TV show Family Ties in 1982. The show's success made him a known name, but stardom came to him a few years later, when he starred in Back to the Future (1985). The film spent eight weeks as the number 1 film in the US and a star was born. The same year, Michael had another hit in Teen Wolf, and the actor was dubbed a 'teen idol'. Back to the Future turned Michael J Fox into a cine idol. Till 1990, Michael J Fox starred in other box office successes like The Secret of My Success (1987). He also won three back-to-back Emmy Awards from 1986-88 and a Golden Globe in 1989 for Family Ties. Many outlets dubbed him the 'next big thing'. In the late 80s, Michael was considered the brightest prospect in a class of young actors that also included Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, and Charlie Sheen. How illness derailed Michael J Fox's career In 1991, Michael, just 30 at the time, was privately diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. He was told he just had '10 good years' left. The actor hastily signed multiple films, even agreeing to playing supporting roles. While many of these films worked, his stature was diminished to that of a supporting actor. In the 90s, Michael earned critical acclaim for his roles in The Frighteners and For Love or Money. After 1996, he largely devoted his time to the TV show Spin City, taking very few film roles. In 1998, he revealed to the cast and crew about his Parkinson's diagnosis, and quit the show in 1999, as his condition worsened. After 1999, Michael J Fox announced his retirement from acting, doing only small guest parts on television occasionally. He appeared in two episodes of Scrubs in 2004, five episodes of Rescue Me in 2009, and had a recurring role in The Good Wife starting 2010. His final appearance was in a sitcom called The Michael J Fox, which was cancelled mid-first season in 2012. He announced his retirement from acting in 2020, citing 'unreliability in speech'. He lives with his family in Malibu. Michael runs The Michael J. Fox Foundation, which has led a $100-million effort to find a cure for the disease.

Rishabh Pant breaks world record, then flings bat to square leg; Jasprit Bumrah goes ROFL

There is never a dull moment when Rishabh Pant is on screen. Whether batting, keeping or even away from the cricket field, attending a comedy show as a guest, Pant is box office everywhere. Here, we would try to stick to matters on the field, which is why Pant is the cynosure of all eyes. On Day 4 of the ongoing India vs England 2nd Test at Edgbaston, Pant broke a world record. It was as nonchalant as possible. Pant now holds the record for most sixes in an away country. He now has 23 sixes (till Lunch on Day 4) in England, which is two more than the previous record-holder Ben Stokes, who has hit 21 sixes in South Africa. India's Rishabh Pant plays a shot on day four(AFP) Pant walked in at No.5 after KL Rahul's stumps were massacred by Josh Tongue and straightaway gave the charge to the bowler who is renowned for bowling over 140 consistently and missed a full toss. Wicket, charge, full toss, swing of the bat and miss. Oufff! We will give you a moment to catch your breath, as Pant, too, gave us one by defending the next ball. As solid as it gets. But that was it. The rollercoaster ride, however, started its steep descent. Pant pulled the next short ball for a four to get off the mark and then danced down the ground to deposit the next ball for a huge six over mid-off. It was Pant's 22nd six in England, that took him past Stokes' record for most by any batter in an away country. The entertainment, of course, had just begun. Pant tried to give the same treatment to England captain Ben Stokes, but this time, he didn't quite get the same elevation. It went straight to the mid-off fielder's hands and burst out. Stokes could not believe it. Zak Crawley had let go of a regulation chance to send back the most destructive Indian batter. Quite expectedly, this did little to deter Pant, who continued to treat this Test match as book cricket. He cut Tongue for a four in the next over, and when the right-arm pacer overcorrected his line, Pant almost sat on one knee and slog-swept it for another six. Off-spinner Shoaib Bashir was Pant's next target. He was hit for a couple of overs in the next over. Stokes threw him the ball anticipating a miscue from Pant. Tongue was still at it from the other end, classic Stokes captaincy. He never takes off the bowler who gets hit. Instead, gives him an opportunity to change things. In the fourth ball of the 34th over, another amazing thing happened. Pant, while trying a repeat of his six a couple of years ago, lost his bat. He swung so hard that the ball flew out of his grip and landed near square leg, leaving almost everyone at Edgbaston in splits. Rishabh Pant throws bat to square leg, Jasprit Bumrah reacts The best reaction, however, came from India pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who could not stop laughing while sitting in the dressing room. Mohammed Siraj, too, was seen laughing in disbelief. Pant was unbeaten on 41 alongside skipper Shubman Gill (24 not out) at the interval. Their quickfire partnership of 51 runs came off 53 balls.

Kate Middleton's secret edge: She always beats Prince William at THIS sport

Prince William might be competitive by nature, but when it comes to tennis, he knows better than to challenge his wife. Turns out, Kate Middleton almost always wins when the Prince and Princess of Wales square off on the court. And this isn't just royal gossip - it comes straight from tennis legend Rod Laver, who shared the tidbit a few years ago after chatting with the couple in the Royal Box at Wimbledon. 'I'd met William and Kate a few times, and in the Royal Box you get a chance to chat with them a little bit. They play tennis against each other. William told me he couldn't beat her,' Laver told the Daily Mail in 2020. It's really not surprising that Kate's the better player. She also hands out the trophies at Wimbledon- a job she clearly enjoys. The Princess of Wales is also not just a spectator. Kate has rallied with big names like Roger Federer and Emma Raducanu, the latter once praised her 'incredible forehand.' So when William jokes about never beating her, it's probably not just modesty - she's got real skills. Kate and William, both 43, have always loved a bit of friendly competition. Over the years, they've taken each other on in all sorts of challenges - from sailing races and running tracks to spin bikes and even ping pong - often during their public appearances. Their competitive streak isn't limited to sports either. Whether it's rolling out dough balls at a bakery or mixing cocktails behind the bar, they seem to enjoy testing each other - and keeping the energy light, reports People. Even on podcasts, their dynamic has come up. During a 2023 episode of The Good, The Bad & The Rugby, hosted by Mike Tindall (who's married to William's cousin Zara), Kate's drive to win became the punchline. 'I'm not going to say you're uber competitive,' Mike joked. 'I'm not competitive at all,' Kate replied with a smile. 'I've seen her play beer pong!' Mike added, as everyone laughed. Kate might deliver her lines with charm, but those who know her best say the competitiveness is real. And William? He's learned to pick his battles, at least when tennis rackets are involved. Whatever the sport, it's clear these two know how to keep things fun - and just a little bit fiery - both on and off the court. A. Tennis legend Rod Laver shared the story after speaking to the couple at Wimbledon. A. They have competed in running, sailing, spin biking, ping pong, and more during royal engagements. A.
