Unpaid work for driver after police pursuit crash
A man who drove dangerously through Aberdeen streets while being pursued by police before crashing has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.
Chase Johnstone, 21, then ran off after crashing in Great Western Road in January this year but was caught by officers.
Johnstone drove at speeds in excess of 70mph in 30mph zones, overtook other vehicles, and drove the wrong way round a roundabout.
He admitted dangerous driving at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, where Sheriff Ian Duguid sentenced him to 120 hours of unpaid work, 12 months of supervision, and also disqualified him from driving for 15 months.

The incident happened on the afternoon of 28 January.
His vehicle was seen on Springhill Road and accelerated away. A pursuit began, also including on Anderson Drive.
Other road users were taking evasive action and the court heard that at one stage the pursuit was stood down for safety reasons.
It resumed, ending when Johnstone crashed into a stone wall.
He will have to take an extended test after his disqualification ends.

The video brands the tmjdoesitbest TikTok account a "Fake Page". The account had posted a number of videos in recent days, naming a so-called rival and alleging attacks were imminent. We've never been on TikTok, Instagram or any of these platforms and never will be. "Social media is for snitches as we've seen over the last few months from The Gremlins and their associates. Anyone we find creating any accounts under our name will be targeted. "We will continue our pursuit against The Gremlins regardless of Operation Portaledge for many years to come. This is the final video we will be releasing. "There will never be another video created by TMJ again. Don't steal from us. Don't snitch on us. Don't pretend to be us. Or we will target you relentlessly. TMJ. Accept no imitations." Police Scotland has cracked down on the incidents - which have taken place in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bishopbriggs, and elsewhere in the country - as part of Operation Portaledge. The police operation has seen 50 suspects arrested and a number of individuals arrested, charged and remanded in custody over their alleged crimes. Edinburgh police swoop on residential street as 'emergency incident' unfolds
Police Scotland swarmed a residential street in the Lochend area in the east of Edinburgh on Saturday, June 28. A heavy police presence could be seen on Lochend Avenue from around 8:20pm, with around five police vehicles in attendance. The exact nature of the emergency incident is currently unknown. Man, 54, dies after running away from cops in Riverside Park: police sources
A 54-year-old man died of an apparent heart attack after he tried to run away from police inside Manhattan's Riverside Park, police sources said Saturday. Cops patrolling through the park found the man drinking an open container of alcohol by W. 137th St. and Riverside Drive at about 10:05 p.m. on Thursday. When the man couldn't provide police with any identification, the officers took him into custody, a police source with knowledge of the case said. They were escorting him from the park when he bolted away from them. The cops chased after him and tackled him to the ground, the police source said. A few moments later, the man claimed he was having trouble breathing. EMS rushed the man to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, where he died following some kind of cardiac episode, officials said. His name was not immediately disclosed as cops track down family members. The tackle was a standard NYPD takedown and not overly aggressive, the police source said. An autopsy has been slated to determine exactly how the man died. Since he was in custody, detectives of the NYPD's Force Investigation Division is reviewing the case. None of the officers involved have been disciplined or removed from patrol as the investigation continues, officials said.
