Discord launches a virtual currency
Currently in beta, Orbs are Discord's latest addition to its Quests. That's the company's system that lets advertisers launch interactive challenges. These can be things like watching promotional videos or playing games. You aren't watching an ad, silly. You're venturing out on a Video Quest!! Godspeed.
If you choose to be a Quest test subject, you can spend your Orbs in several ways. Discord Nitro credits could be a popular redemption option. You can also trade Orbs for profile cosmetics and first-party shop items. Unfortunately, you can't exchange them for real money. Nor can you spend them anywhere outside of Discord.
Before today, Quest advertisers were limited to offering their own rewards. However, they can still do that. The new virtual currency is merely another option.
Orbs are launching in a limited beta, so you may not have access yet. They're also desktop-only (app and browser), at least for now. You can find Quests by heading to Discover > Quests on Discord. Once you have access to Orbs, you can claim them in the Direct Messages > Shop section.

NYT Connections Today: Friday, July 18 Hints And Answers (#768)
Find the links between the words to win today's game of Connections. Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Thursday's: Hey there, Connectors! The weekend is almost upon us and I hope you make the most of it, whatever that means to you :). I really enjoy watching The Chase, a quiz show that's been running in the U.K. for quite a few years. It's a fun format, and I like to play along (obviously, I'd do soooo much better than most of those who appear on it). One contestant who appeared on an episode this week was a retired cop. When asked why he joined the force, he said that he'd encountered police as a young anarchist. His wife bet him £50 that he couldn't become a cop. He felt he had to prove her wrong. The contestant said he ended up quite enjoying the job in the end. Still, that seems like a very small sum (in addition to a police force salary, I suppose) to sell one's beliefs for. Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us. Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don't look at the comments or Twitter much. How To Play Connections Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT's website or Games app. You're presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part. There's only one solution for each puzzle, and you'll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them. Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay. Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you're incorrect, you'll lose a life. If you're close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you're one word away from getting it right, but you'll still need to figure out which one to swap. If you make four mistakes, it's game over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some hints, and, if you're really struggling, today's Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats. If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication's Connections archive. This includes every previous game of Connections, so you can go back and play any of those that you have missed. Aside from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find our hints Google if you need them! Just click here and add the date of the game for which you need clues or the answers to the search query. What Are Today's Connections Hints? Scroll slowly! Just after the hints for each of today's Connections groups, I'll reveal what the groups are without immediately telling you which words go into them. Today's 16 words are... And the hints for today's Connections groups are: One Word For Each Connections Group Need some extra help? Be warned: we're starting to get into spoiler territory. Let's take a look at one word for each group. Today's Connections word hints are… What Are Today's Connections Groups? Today's Connections groups are... What Are Today's Connections Answers? Spoiler alert! Don't scroll any further down the page until you're ready to find out today's Connections answers. This is your final warning! Today's Connections answers are... The See Spot Run reference on the top line was cute. I enjoyed that. But not for long, because we've got some serious business to take care of. Swapping NOTE for RUN on the top line and grouping those words together got me the greens. Easy enough! Seeing STREAK and RUN next to each other made the yellows clear enough after that. It took me a little while to figure out where to go next, but GUITAR kept drawing my eye. EEL seemed a little out of place and after a few moments of thinking, I had that dopamine rush of an "aha!" moment. They're both electric things! So are BLANKET and SLIDE (a type of dance). That left me with the blues. I had no idea about those at all, though in hindsight I knew BRIDGE and COW were yoga poses. So I was fine with getting those by default. I'm pleased to get yet another win on the board and with a perfect game too. That brings my win streak up to 143 wins. Here's my grid for today: 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟦🟦🟦🟦 That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. I'll be back with you all here on Monday. In the meantime, you can check out my weekend editions of this column in my newsletter, Pastimes. P.S. I love Tiny Desk. I really like Bloc Party. So, I'm very happy that Bloc Party's appearance on Tiny Desk went so well. This is a great way to spend 17 minutes: Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love! Please follow my blog for more coverage of NYT Connections and other word games, and even some video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot! Sharing this column with other people who play Connections would be appreciated too. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes.

Orbs Unveils Perpetual Hub Ultra to Bring Native Perps Trading to Omnichain DEXs
Orbs, the leading Layer-3 infrastructure provider, has unveiled Perpetual Hub Ultra as a whitelabel solution for decentralized exchanges. Perpetual Hub Ultra can be deployed by any DEX, complete with a fully customized user interface, bringing perps trading to new markets. The release of Perpetual Hub Ultra taps into the growing demand for perps trading among onchain users, enabling decentralized exchanges to futures markets with minimal overhead. Through tapping into Orbs' best-in-class infrastructure and deep liquidity, DEXs can rapidly and securely roll out perps trading. Perpetual Hub Ultra builds upon the success of Orbs' Perpetual Hub, which has been widely integrated across the omnichain ecosystem. It includes support for over 300 trading pairs with up to 60x leverage, automated liquidations, and deep liquidity routing for superior capital efficiency. Perpetual Hub Ultra combines smart contract infrastructure with Orbs' omnichain infra, enabling DEXs to seamlessly launch a whitelabel perps platform. A CeFi-grade interface that's fully customizable is coupled with a full suite of Orbs perps primitives in the form of its Hedger, Liquidator, and Price Oracle. This provides decentralized exchanges with everything they need to deploy their own branded perps platform. Perpetual Hub Ultra's modular design provides full B2B2C scalability. It can be immediately integrated, enabling any DEX to add perps trading with minimal development effort. Projects attempting to launch their own perps trading platforms face multiple hurdles, including attracting sufficient liquidity and maintaining competitive margin requirements. This has resulted in a handful of major players dominating the onchain perps market. Orbs' whitelabel solution has the potential to address this imbalance, allowing DEXs and L2s to establish secure, highly liquid perps markets that provide healthy competition. Perpetual Hub Ultra empowers DEXs to diversify beyond spot trading to offer more sophisticated products. It has the potential to significantly boost trading volume, attract new users, and grow revenue without requiring the development of a specialized base layer. Major DEX integrations of Perpetual Hub Ultra are already underway on multiple chains, as spot exchanges take advantage of this capability while setting the standard for onchain perps. About Orbs Orbs is a decentralized Layer-3 (L3) blockchain designed specifically for advanced onchain trading. Utilizing a Proof-of-Stake consensus, Orbs acts as a supplementary execution layer, facilitating complex logic and scripts beyond the native functionalities of smart contracts. Orbs powered protocols such as dLIMIT, dTWAP, Liquidity Hub, and Perpetual Hub push the boundaries of DeFi and smart contract technology, introducing CeFi-level execution to onchain trading. Contact
