Jennifer Aniston to Star in "I'm Glad My Mom Died" TV Adaptation

Yara Sameh
Jennifer Aniston has signed on to star in a series inspired by Jennette McCurdy's memoir 'I'm Glad My Mom Died' at Apple TV+.
Apple has given the show a 10-episode order.
The official logline for the dramedy states that it is a "heartbreaking" and "hilarious" recounting of Jennette McCurdy's struggles as a former child actor while dealing with her overbearing domineering mother (Aniston).
The series will center on the codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress in a hit kid's show and her narcissistic mother who relishes in her identity as "a starlet's mother.''
McCurdy rose to fame with her role as Sam Puckett on "iCarly" at Nickelodeon, which she reprised on the spinoff series "Sam & Cat".
She also made appearances in numerous other TV series and movies.
The actress published 'I'm Glad My Mom Died' in 2022 with Simon & Schuster, with the book quickly topping the New York Times Best Seller list and remaining on the list for over a year.
McCurdy and Ari Katcher ('Ramy,' 'Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show') will write, executive produce, and showrun the series.
Aniston will executive produce in addition to starring via Echo Films.
Sharon Horgan and Stacy Greenberg executive produce for Merman along with Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara for LuckyChap, Jerrod Carmichael and Erica Kay. Apple Studios will also produce.
"I'm Glad My Mom Died" expands Aniston's relationship with Apple TV+, as she is currently starring in and executive producing the streamer's popular drama 'The Morning Show,' which is launching its fourth season in September. Her performance on the show has earned her two acting Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.
Aniston shares the screen with Reese Witherspoon and they both executive produce the series.
When the show returns this fall to the streamer, it'll pick up right after Season 2 ended, with as the coronavirus pandemic ravaged the fictional network UBA.
