Jagan Mohan Reddy blames convoy death on lack of Z-plus security cover
On Wednesday (July 30, 2025), Guntur Range Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sarvashresth Tripathi and In-charge Superintendent of Police A.R. Damodar have briefed the police officers that all measures have been taken to prevent any security lapses. Special teams have been appointed for traffic control, security measures and maintenance of peace and security and continuous surveillance.
Later, another briefing was held for the personnel at Police Parade Ground. Earlier, the in-charge SP informed that Section 30 of the Police Act has been enforced in the district and no permission has been given to organise processions, meetings, bike rallies and roadshows. He warned that legal action will be taken if provocative slogans, banners and placards are used. He said that lodges, check posts and vehicles are being inspected.
As per the schedule, Mr. Mohan Reddy will reach Chemudugunta helipad on Thursday morning 10.30 a.m. (July 31, 2025) and from there he will meet former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy in Nellore Central Prison by 11 a.m. Later, he will go to the residence of former Kovur MLA Prasanna Kumar Reddy in Nellore Town by 11.50 a.m. and return back by 1 p.m.

Nellore: YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy accused the TDP-led coalition government of creating an undeclared emergency-like situation in the state by misusing police to file false cases against opposition leaders. During a one-day tour in Nellore district, Jagan visited former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy at Nellore central prison to offer support and later met the family of former Kovur MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy at their residence in Sujathamma Colony. While Govardhana Reddy is in jail for his role in illegal mining, Prasanna Kumar Reddy is facing criminal charges for making derogatory comments against Kovuru MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy. Addressing the media, Jagan warned Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of 'severe consequences' for promoting vindictive politics, including orchestrating attacks on opposition leaders' homes. 'Criticism is common in politics, but sending armed mobs to attack Prasanna Kumar Reddy's house is clear evidence of the TDP's 'red book constitution' in Andhra Pradesh,' he said. Jagan questioned the government's deployment of a large police force, road blockades, and unprecedented restrictions to prevent people from meeting him. He accused Naidu of using these tactics to divert attention from unfulfilled election promises. The YSRCP chief alleged that Naidu derives 'sadistic pleasure' by filing false cases to keep opposition leaders, including Kakani Govardhan Reddy, in jail for extended periods. He claimed that despite a village revenue officer's statement denying illegal quarrying at Rusthum Mines in Tatiparthi village, Podalakuru mandal, the government falsely implicated Govardhan Reddy in 14 cases, including an illegal mining case and an SC/ST case, as part of its vendetta politics. Jagan further alleged that YSRCP leaders such as Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Jogi Ramesh, Nandigama Suresh, Pennelli Ramakrishna Reddy, and others have been targeted. He claimed PV Midhun Reddy was jailed due to a past college rivalry between his father, Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy, and Naidu. Condemning the TDP's use of foul language against YSRCP leaders like RK Roja, Rajani, and ZP Chairperson Harika, Jagan asked, 'If we retaliate in the same manner, where will democracy stand?' He said public discontent, noting that students have not received fee reimbursements for six quarters, farmers are denied MSP, and Aarogyasri dues remain unpaid, depriving the poor of quality healthcare. Tirupati: Former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday alleged that Andhra Pradesh is in a "state of emergency" due to the "autocratic and undemocratic practices" of the NDA govt. The YSRCP chief, who met former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy at Nellore central prison, slammed the govt for targeting YSRCP leaders and intimidate the opposition. Criticising the TDP-led govt for booking 14 "false cases" against Kakani, he said when YSRCP activists were attacked near Kavali, Kakani held a press conference and condemned the ruling party for instigating the attacks. "TDP holds a grudge against him for that. He was immediately booked in multiple cases with the help of fake witnesses and evidences and has been confined to Nellore prison," he alleged. Jagan, who also met former Kovur legislator Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy, condemned the attack on the six-time MLA's residence. "Over 80 miscreants were involved in the unprecedented attack in which Prasanna's house was ransacked. Meanwhile, TDP ridiculed Jagan's "baseless allegations" and asserted that peace and tranquility have returned to the state after people voted him out in the 2024 elections. Kovur legislator Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy questioned the YSRCP chief about the rationale behind his frequent "jail yatras". "What message are you trying to send across by extending solidarity to people like Kakani Govardhan Reddy, Anil Kumar Yadav, and Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy? Aren't they guilty of pledging support to the mining mafia? The whole of Andhra Pradesh condemned the derogatory and sexist remarks passed on me by Prasanna Kumar Reddy. Even the high court condemned his comments and refused to grant anticipatory bail to him. It is unfortunate that Jagan has stooped so low to shield a person who is a disgrace to the society," the TDP MLA lamented. She further said that despite being shunted out of power, Jagan hasn't learnt any lessons. "YSRCP can never return to power as its prime agenda is to shield criminals and humiliate women," she added.

Siblings die of electrocution in Rohini, father discharged after treatment
Two siblings, a woman aged 28 and a man aged 26, died of electrocution at their home in Rohini's Begumpur, the police said on Thursday. Their elderly father, 65, who also suffered serious injuries, has been discharged from a hospital after undergoing treatment, an officer added. The deceased have been identified as Vivek, a welding worker, and his sister Anju. She had come to celebrate Rakshabandhan with her family after getting married three months ago. The matter came to light when the police received a PCR call at 10.56 p.m. on Wednesday, informing them about an electrocution case and requesting that the power supply to the Begumpur house be cut off. Subsequently, a police team rushed to the spot, where they were informed them that locals have shifted the three victims to Agrasen Hospital. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajeev Ranjan said that a crime team and officials from the North Delhi Power Limited inspected the site. 'Preliminary investigation revealed that the house, built on a 50 sq. yard plot, has an open and unsafe electrical wiring system with live wires wrapped around an iron grill on the staircase,' he said. According to the police, around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Vivek was heading upstairs when he came in contact with the iron gate which was exposed to the live wiring. After hearing, Vivek's cries, his father Kalicharan and Anju came to his help but were electrocuted themselves, the officer said. At the hospital, the doctors declared Vivek and Anju dead. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, the DCP added.
