
Latest gang war arrest brings total so far to 50
Operation Portaledge detectives investigating the recent gang war activity in the East and West of the country have made another arrest, bringing the total so far to 50.
A teenager was due to appear in court today Friday 27 June 2025 in connection with a number of fire-raisings in Edinburgh.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with wilful fire-raisings which occurred at three properties on Pitcairn Grove, Prestonfield Crescent and Niddrie Marischal Crescent in Edinburgh on Thursday, 17 April.
'He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today, Friday, 27 June, 2025.'

'I was walking by when I saw the entrance to Calton Cemetery off Regent road was completely taped off and pedestrians weren't allowed in," an eyewitness said. Weapons and drugs haul seized in police raid in Scots town
A man has been charged after police uncovered a stash of weapons and £5,000 worth of street diazepam during a warrant search at an East Lothian home. Two stun guns, an air gun, and multiple knives were among a haul of weapons seized by police during a raid on a house in East Lothian. Officers from the local community policing team swooped on the property in Northfield, Tranent, around 9.40am on Thursday, June 26, after executing a warrant. Inside, police discovered a range of dangerous weapons including two stun guns, an air gun, and several knives. A stash of street diazepam — with an estimated value of £5,000 — and a quantity of cash were also recovered. A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the seizure. He appeared in court on Friday and was released on bail pending further proceedings. Sergeant Ryan Gilhooly said: 'Drugs cause misery in our communities, and we are determined to disrupt the supply of illegal substances and trace those involved.
