The arrests, carried out after Interpol and Europol red notices were issued, underscore the UAE's increasing role as a key hub in global law enforcement collaboration.
International Red Notices Lead to Arrest and Extradition
Two individuals, whose identities have not been publicly disclosed, were apprehended in Dubai following international red notices issued by both Interpol and Europol. Dubai Police confirmed the arrests on Friday, stating the men were wanted in France for serious criminal offenses including attempted fraud and trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
In an official statement, Dubai Police said:
'Search and investigation teams launched a tracking operation based on red notices. The suspects and their homes were identified and monitored until they were arrested.'
The arrests were the result of joint efforts between Dubai Police, the UAE Ministry of Justice's International Cooperation Department, and French judicial authorities. The Ministry of Justice confirmed it had received official arrest warrants and coordinated with Dubai's Public Prosecution to facilitate the extradition.
Authorities further revealed that the suspects were not just wanted for isolated offenses but were linked to organised international criminal activity, with connections to murder, money laundering, armed robbery, and crime syndicate leadership.
'These suspects were involved in organised international crimes including murder, money laundering, armed robbery, drug trafficking and crime gang leaders,' the Dubai Police added.
Broader Law Enforcement Trend: 10 Extraditions to France in 2025
With this operation, the number of suspects extradited by Dubai Police to France in 2025 has reached 10, according to official figures. These individuals are tied to a wide range of grave offenses including:
Premeditated murder
Leading organised crime networks
Large-scale drug trafficking
Armed robbery
Financial crimes including money laundering and fraud
This increasing number highlights the UAE's proactive stance on transnational crime and the country's tightening cooperation with global law enforcement agencies.
Earlier this year, on February 7, the UAE extradited Mehdi Charafa, a French national wanted on charges of drug trafficking and money laundering, after the UAE's Federal Supreme Court approved the extradition request from French authorities.

High-Profile Cases Highlight UAE's Role in Global Policing
Dubai has also been instrumental in other high-stakes international handovers this year. On July 17, the UAE extradited Othman El Ballouti, widely known as the 'Cocaine King', to Belgium. El Ballouti, a 38-year-old Belgian-Moroccan, was among Interpol and Europol's most wanted. He is accused of orchestrating massive cocaine shipments into Europe, particularly through the Port of Antwerp, one of Europe's busiest entry points for narcotics.
El Ballouti's arrest in Dubai in December 2024 and subsequent extradition followed procedures outlined under the 2021 UAE-Belgium extradition treaty. His case formed part of a wider international anti-narcotics operation involving multiple jurisdictions.
Alongside El Ballouti, two other high-profile suspects, Matthias Akyazili and Georgi Faes, were also extradited, marking a significant moment in international anti-narcotics collaboration.
A Regional Hub for International Cooperation
The International Cooperation Department at the UAE Ministry of Justice has played a central role in processing these extradition requests. As the designated authority for handling such international legal matters, it works closely with domestic agencies like Dubai Police and the Public Prosecution to ensure that extradition proceedings are compliant with both UAE laws and international agreements.
The UAE's active response to red notices and arrest warrants, especially in high-profile cases, reflects a broader policy shift toward strengthening international justice systems and reinforcing global security frameworks.

Girlfriend cheats on 35-year-old man with gym trainer: Reddit user warns older men, ‘Don't ignore your instincts'
A 35-year-old man has shared the story of his heartbreak on Reddit. His girlfriend, 33, cheated on him with her gym trainer after over three years together. The user said the pain wasn't just about betrayal, but how it could happen at any age. According to him, many assume cheating is common only in young or immature relationships. However, he was shocked to face it in his mid-30s. The user claims to have supported her and believed in their bond. Yet, honesty was missing, he wrote. The Reddit user warns others not to assume they're too old for such things. If trust and communication weaken, emotional and physical lines can blur no matter the age or maturity level, he added. 'Don't ignore your instincts. If you sense real change or distance, respect your intuition, but communicate before jumping to conclusions,' the user wrote. 'Value trust above comfort. True partnership means ongoing effort, not just years together,' he added. The Reddit post opened the floodgates to a wave of heartbreak stories from others. Many others shared about their experience of being cheated on. One of them shared how his wife had ruined their 10-year marriage and the lives of their two children. She apparently ended the marriage because a younger man at her office had been praising her. The user said what hurt him the most was that she had shown no remorse for her actions. He also mentioned that her entire family was angry with him and had spread false rumours to cover up her infidelity. 'Why do I hear lot of cheating stories everywhere? Right from Coldplay concert till Reddit,' wondered one user. Another user wrote, 'Cheating with gym trainer is very common. Maybe women do get attracted by big muscles contrary to their claim "body doesn't matter, personality does".' 'Cheating happens more at 30s and 40s then at 20s. People tend to ditch their marriages just for smallest pleasure outside, some for sex, some for excitement,' oberved another. In 2023, Gleeden found that 77% of Indian women cheat due to boring married life. Gleeden is a French online dating platform for women who want to have extra-marital affairs. It revealed that the app had 8 lakh subscribers from India. According to Gleeden, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata had the highest number of unfaithful women. Also, 72% of unfaithful people didn't regret cheating. Among the responders, 46% came from homes where one parent had cheated. Seven out of 10 women blamed a lack of help with chores. According to the survey, 31% already had affairs with neighbours before joining the app. Interestingly, 52% women and 57% men cheated during business trips. Half of the female cheaters had sex on the second date. Among men, 17% had secret accounts for affairs. Flirting helped 4 in 10 women reconnect with partners. Same-sex affairs rose after Section 377 was removed by the court.

Thailand Army Accuses Cambodia Of Violating Truce As Clashes Continue
Thailand's army accused Cambodia Tuesday of violating an hours-old truce, saying clashes continued despite a deal meant to end the bloody fighting that engulfed their jungle-clad frontier. Following peace talks in Malaysia on Monday, both sides agreed an unconditional ceasefire would start at midnight to end fighting over a smattering of ancient temples in disputed zones along their 800-kilometre (500-mile) border. "At the time the agreement took effect, the Thai side detected that Cambodian forces had launched armed attacks into several areas within Thai territory," said Thai army spokesman Winthai Suwaree. "This constitutes a deliberate violation of the agreement and a clear attempt to undermine mutual trust, he added in a statement. "Thailand is compelled to respond appropriately, exercising its legitimate right to self-defense." Cambodia's defence ministry spokeswoman Maly Socheata insisted there had been "no armed clashes against each other in any regions". However, both sides said morning meetings scheduled between opposing regional commanders along the border as part of the truce pact had either begun or were still scheduled to start. "I saw photos of the two leaders shaking hands," said 32-year-old pharmacy worker Kittisak Sukwilai in the Thai city of Surin -- 50 kilometres from the border. "I just hope it's not just a photo op with fake smiles -- and that those hands aren't actually preparing to stab each other in the back." In Cambodia's Samraong city -- 20 kilometres from the frontier -- an AFP journalist said the sound of blasts stopped in the 30 minutes leading up to midnight, with the lull continuing until mid morning. "The frontline has eased since the ceasefire at 12 midnight," Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said in a Tuesday morning message on Facebook. 'Good faith' Jets, rockets and artillery have killed at least 38 people since last Thursday and displaced nearly 300,000 more -- prompting intervention from US President Donald Trump over the weekend. The flare-up was the deadliest since violence raged sporadically from 2008-2011 over the territory, claimed by both because of a vague demarcation made by Cambodia's French colonial administrators in 1907. "When I heard the news I was so happy because I miss my home and my belongings that I left behind," Phean Neth told AFP on Monday evening at a sprawling camp for Cambodian evacuees on a temple site away from the fighting. "I am so happy that I can't describe it," said the 45-year-old. A joint statement from both countries -- as well as Malaysia which hosted the peace talks -- said the ceasefire was "a vital first step towards de-escalation and the restoration of peace and security". A spokesman for UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said in a statement Monday evening that "he urges both countries to respect the agreement fully and to create an environment conducive to addressing long-standing issues and achieving lasting peace". Both sides are courting Trump for trade deals to avert his threat of eye-watering tariffs, and the US State Department said its officials had been "on the ground" to shepherd peace talks. The joint statement said China also had "active participation" in the talks, hosted by Malaysian Prime Minister and ASEAN bloc chair Anwar Ibrahim in his country's administrative capital Putrajaya. Hun Manet thanked Trump for his "decisive" support, while his counterpart, Thai acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, said it should be "carried out in good faith by both sides". Post-truce tariff deals Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn marked his 73rd birthday on Monday, but a notice in the country's Royal Gazette said public celebrations scheduled for Bangkok's Grand Palace had been cancelled amid the strife. Each side had already agreed to a truce in principle, while accusing the other of undermining peace efforts and trading allegations about the use of cluster bombs and targeting of hospitals. Thailand says 11 of its soldiers and 14 civilians have been killed, while Cambodia has confirmed only eight civilian and five military deaths. More than 138,000 people have fled Thailand's border regions, while around 140,000 have been driven from their homes in Cambodia.

Pavel had already founded Telegram, a year back, in 2013. The headquarters of Telegram is in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Nikolai Durov (his brother) shifted there in 2017. Pavel Durol's organized crime allegations With allegations ranging from child sex abuse photographs and being part of an online transaction permitting illegal transactions, Durov faced multiple issues in his home country Russia, and then France, in August 28, 2024, where the cases were charged. Ironically, he has citizenship in both countries. Live Events French anti-fraud investigators arrested Durov from his flight from Azerbaijan on August 24, 2024. The arrest took place based on an arrest warrant from the French judicial police alleging 12 criminal offences committed by Telegram. On August 28, Durov appeared before a prosecutor in court, who formally filed six allegations against him, including providing cryptology services, complicity in illegal conduct, and refusing to communicate when asked to do so by authorised authorities. Durov was freed from custody that same day and placed under judicial supervision, with the stipulations that he post bail of five million euros, be prohibited from leaving France, and appear at the police station twice a week. Pavel Durov faces possible 10-year sentence in France The maximum punishment for one of the counts against Durov is ten years in prison and a €500,000 fine. After official accusations were brought against him, Durov was freed on bond and prohibited from leaving France until the issue was settled. According to reports, Durov has previously shunned trips to Europe because of possible legal ramifications. Le Canard enchaîné reports that Durov's staff refuted his arrest-related assertion that he had gone to Paris to have dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron. A request for comment was not answered by Durov or his solicitors, who have refuted the allegations. Durov denied developing Telegram for illegal purposes during his initial interrogation in December 2024, although he did admit that there was an increasing number of criminals using the app and promised to improve moderation. Sources with knowledge of organised crime investigations told AFP that since Durov's arrest, French legal authorities have observed an increase in collaboration with Telegram. Durov's legal team challenges charges in EU and French courts After being initially prohibited from leaving France, Durov's court control was loosened in early July, enabling him to spend no more than two weeks at a time in the United Arab Emirates. According to a person familiar with the matter, Durov's attorneys have submitted requests to the Paris Appeals Court to have the accusations dropped. According to the same source, the attorneys have also requested a preliminary ruling from the top court of the European Union and filed a legal challenge in France to test the case's constitutionality.
