Gaza Friday Sermon During Funeral of Hamas Military Commander Marwan Issa: You Love Martyrdom, You Love to Kill for the Sake of Allah; The Resistance Could Not Have Waged Jihad, Massacred the Jews If
In a Friday sermon delivered in the Gaza Strip, during the February 7, 2025 funeral of Hamas military commander Marwan Issa, who was reportedly killed in March 2024, the imam addressed the crowd and told them: 'You […] love martyrdom for the sake of Allah. You love to kill for the sake of Allah.' He added that the resistance fighters could not have waged Jihad and massacred the Jews, had it not been for the 'grace of Allah.' He quoted a verse from the Quran stating: 'You did not kill them it was Allah who killed them.' Regarding Trump's plan to relocate Gaza residents, the imam said that either they return to their land within the 1948 borders, referring to Ashkelon, Ashdod, Ramla, Haifa, and Jerusalem, or they will be martyred. He pledged to continue on the path of Jihad and resistance until the liberation of Palestine. The sermon was delivered during a ceasefire between Hamas and Gaza and aired by Al-Aqsa TV (Hamas).

New Scheme offers Iraqis Affordable Building Materials
By John Lee. Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani inaugurated the new 'Construction Basket' initiative on Wednesday, an innovative programme designed to provide citizens with access to building materials at competitive prices and on convenient instalment terms. The centre, located at the newly-opened Cooperation Center for Construction , is a joint venture between the Ministry of Commerce's General Company for Trading in Construction Materials and the private sector. In his remarks, Al-Sudani praised the Ministry's efforts and underlined the significance of promoting locally made products, reaffirming that "Made in Iraq" is a strategic direction to revitalise national industry. He highlighted that Iraq's construction sector is undergoing a major transformation across government, institutional, and investment-driven projects. Key highlights of the Prime Minister's announcement include: Targeted support for retirees, families on the social protection network, relatives of martyrs, and employees. A directive to establish a mechanism linking loans and construction permits with access to subsidised construction materials. An emphasis on using cooperative models to regulate material prices through public-private collaboration-similar to the earlier food-focused Hypermarket initiative. Availability of building materials that meet Iraqi standard specifications at reduced prices. Approval of investment permits for around one million residential units, alongside initiatives through the Housing Fund and Real Estate Bank. Prioritisation of industrial zones and investment facilitation for private sector-led manufacturing projects. Ongoing coordination with the Union of Industries and the Union of Contractors. A commitment to expanding the initiative, starting with Nineveh and Basra governorates. Al-Sudani reaffirmed the government's stance that the private sector is a critical partner in satisfying domestic market demand and creating employment for Iraqi youth. PUK: Oil deal key to resolving salary crisis
Shafaq News – Al-Sulaymaniyah On Sunday, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) voiced support for any workable solution to resolve the Kurdistan Region's stalled May salaries, calling the wage crisis 'one of the worst' in its history. At a press conference, Ziyad Jabbar from the PUK Political Bureau blamed the impasse on the absence of a transparent revenue-sharing system between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Iraq's federal authorities, arguing that no lasting resolution is possible without a binding oil agreement with Baghdad. 'Citizens have now gone two months without pay, creating a suffocating crisis that is disrupting daily life,' Jabbar warned, urging all parties to set aside 'narrow political interests' and agree on a plan that protects employee rights. The dispute deepened after Baghdad conditioned salary transfers on the KRG fully delivering its oil to SOMO and accepting tighter controls on non-oil revenues. The KRG countered that these terms exceed prior commitments. As a temporary measure, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani approved a federal loan to cover May wages, pending further resolution.

Nineveh hits record voter count ahead of November's elections
Shafaq News - Nineveh On Sunday, Nineveh's Independent High Electoral Commission held its fifth electoral awareness dialogue session in Mosul, bringing together religious leaders and tribal elders to promote voter education and reinforce democratic engagement. In remarks to Shafaq News, media official for the Nineveh Election Office, Sufyan al-Mashhadani, noted that the session aimed to encourage active voter participation in the November 11 elections, emphasizing the role of religious and tribal institutions in guiding citizens toward responsible and transparent electoral behavior. The session followed the completion of the voter registration update, which ran from March 25 to June 20—marking the longest update period in the commission's history. Nearly 2.9 million voters are now registered in Nineveh, including around 1.9 million who hold biometric ID cards. During the update period, more than 290,000 voters updated their information, while approximately 44,000 new registrants born in 2007 were added to the voters' list for the first time. 'With the issuance of new biometric cards underway, the commission expects the total number of eligible voters to surpass 2 million,' al-Mashhadani affirmed. Addressing the situation of displaced Iraqis from Sinjar, the official confirmed that those residing in camps across Duhok and other parts of the Kurdistan Region remain eligible to vote—either at their current locations or by transferring their polling centers to Sinjar or another preferred area.
