Zougotcha sold for $5.25m at Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale
Three-time Group 1-winning mare Zougotcha will begin her new career in the breeding barn for Coolmore Australia after she was knocked down for a whopping $5.25m at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast today.
Zougotcha, a winner of eight races from just 18 starts and more than $2.6m in prizemoney, was offered for sale by her trainer Chris Waller as agent.

By super stallion Zoustar out of the Fastnet Rock mare Fast Talker, Zougotcha was a $500,000 Inglis Easter Yearling buy who won on debut as a two-year-old at Canterbury before going on to dominate in her three-year-old campaign with victories in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m), the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m).
She tasted more Group 1 glory in the spring of 2024 when she followed up her Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) victory with slashing wins in the Coolmore Classic (1500m) and Queen of the Turf Stakes (1600m).
Another triple Group 1-winning mare trained by Chris Waller, Atishu, also went through the sales ring, fetching $2.7m from Yulong.
Atishu won 11 races, including the Queen Of The Turf, Mackinnon Stakes and Empire Rose Stakes at Group 1 level, and almost $6m in prizemoney
A total of 486 lots are being offered at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
Tom Magnier of Coolmore also shelled out $1.35m to secure the regally-bred former Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman-trained mare Moesha (I Am Invincible-Princess Coup). Moesha was a $650,000 yearling when bought by Rosemont Stud and David Redvers Bloodstock at the 2022 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
Multiple Group 2 and Group 3-winning mare Revolutionary Miss (Russian Revolution-Purcentage) was another to sell for seven figures, knocked down to Katsumi Yoshida for $1.6m.

'Danny [Weidler] last week spoke about how Daly Cherry-Evans will move into a coaching role once he retires.' Daly Cherry-Evans is set to play one more season with the Roosters in 2026. The 36-year-old has scored 97 tries in 345 games for the Sea Eagles since his debut in 2011 and won a premiership with the club that same season before losing another grand final in 20213. Cherry-Evans has played 26 Origins for the Maroons before being dropped after game one this season and played 21 Test matches for the Kangaroos. 'No update there,' Cherry-Evans told last week when asked about his future. 'I'm just going to keep taking my time and make sure I make the right decision for myself and my family. 'But (I've) definitely still got a fire burning. That's always the most important thing, is you've got love for the game and a desire to keep competing. 'My focus right now is where it needs to be, and that's for the Manly side this year. 'We're sitting around that top eight at the moment, which is great. There's definitely lots of improvement left in us for the back end of the year. 'So if we can focus in and keep playing consistent footy, which we've done the last month, be able to play finals footy again, which is a big driving force for the team and I.' (Photo by) SHARKS IN DANGER OF LOSING STAR AMID CONTRACT STAND-OFF The Sharks are in danger of losing hooker Blayke Brailey after he rejected an extension offer from the club as he looks to test his value on the open market. WWOS' The Mole reported talks have stalled between Brailey and the Sharks after he rejected an extension offer and issued the club with a counter offer. 'They [Cronulla] made an offer - we didn't accept it,' Brailey's manager David Riolo told Wide World of Sports. 'I put a counter offer and they are considering it. We are kind of in limbo at the moment. 'But the clock is ticking and if it can't get sorted before November 1, he will go to the open market.' Blayke Brailey has rejected a deal from the Sharks. Brailey is considered a NSW Origin hooker of the future and is a homegrown Sharks talent that doesn't want to leave the club. Andrew is currently at the Gold Coast Titans and starred for the Maroons in their Origin win earlier this year. The 19-year-old overcame a spinal injury that threatened his career, but is back to full health. The Tigers are looking to shore up their spine depth after Lachlan Galvin and Tallyn Da Silva left the club mid-season, while Adam Doueihi is weighing up a move to the Panthers in 2026. The Tigers have been locked in talks with Doueihi over an extension and have tabled a deal believed to be worth around $350,000 a season. The Tigers are eyeing Maroons young gun Javon Andrews. The Tigers are looking to the future with Jarome Luai and Latu Fainu as their halves pairing, but their skipper has a get-out clause that could see him leave the club if activated. Andrews would provide cover for Luai and Fainu and add depth while he develops into an NRL playmaker, while providing an insurance policy if Luai leaves. IMPURITEZE (9) is a debutant by Trapeze Artist from a daughter of Bold Promise. Settled midfield and closed nicely when second to Valedictorian in his Randwick heat the same day. RACE 5: BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (1350m) AGED CARE (3) had cardiac arrhythmia when resuming at Scone back in May. Had a trial and retuned with a win at Port Macquarie before a second to Malabar here after racing wide without cover. CALIFORNIA SECRET (2) placed once in his first six starts but has found his best form this campaign. He started with a barnstorming win at Muswellbrook and followed with wins at Newcastle to complete the hat-trick. Game in defeat behind Audrey's Lane over 1400m last start. CELTIC SIN (5) has claims on his win two starts back. BET: AGED CARE to win. RACE 6: PROVINCIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1350m) IMPRESSIONISM (1) ended is first campaign with back-to-back seconds in the country. Resumed over 1300m at Newcastle and defied a betting drift to led all-the-way and beat Bohemian Art before going for another break. THE PACIFIC (4) improved off his first-up run to break his maiden at Kembla second-up last campaign. Will take improvement from his first-up seventh at Newcastle over 1200m. JUSTICE WARRIOR (2) has always shown nice ability and finally broke through with an all-the-way win at Tamworth. Will take plenty of confidence from that victory. BET: IMPRESSIONISM to win. RACE 7: BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1200m) GRAPHIC SIGHT (12) was given a good break after his debut third at Canberra last December when racing three-wide. Returned with a stylish all-the-way win at Goulburn on July 8. BURJ (6) resumed with a sixth behind a dominant Diddle Dumpling over 1000m at Gosford on June 12 and returned there a month later when a short head second to Divine Vicky over 1100m. Her maiden win was over 1300m so she will appreciate a step up in trip here. TRUE AMOR (1) dropped in grade and led all-the-way here last start. Chance again although wide gate isn't ideal. BET: GRAPHIC SIGHT each-way. RACE 8: BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1600m) HOW MUCH BETTER (1) has been good in his three runs this campaign including a last start third to Audrey's Lane over 1400m at Newcastle. Back a little in grade but steps up to the mile which will suit him ideally. Unbeaten on his home track. DUBAI WARRIOR (4) was beaten as an odds-on fav at Wagga when sitting midfield. Freshened and appreciated rolling along in front to win here last start. COSMIC LAD (2) has claims on his first-up win here. BET: HOW MUCH BETTER to win.
