Apple
has secured a deal with
Peter Chernin
's
North Road studio
for new movies, a report claims. This move marks a significant change for the Cupertino-based tech giant in Hollywood and ends North Road's five-year alignment with
Netflix
. The agreement reportedly grants Apple first-look rights to upcoming projects from North Road. While new developments will prioritise Apple, Chernin Entertainment will continue to produce films already in progress for other studios. Notably, two of their films, Apex (starring Charlize Theron) and 11817 (with Wagner Moura and Greta Lee), are still slated for release on Netflix.
Chernin, a prominent media mogul, has a long history in entertainment, previously producing hits for Fox such as Ford v. Ferrari, recent Planet of the Apes films, and the sitcom New Girl. In 2020, Chernin Entertainment began producing movies exclusively for Netflix, including the Fear Street franchise and Back in Action with Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz. According to a report by Bloomberg, Chernin sought a new studio partner, ultimately landing with Apple as the deal with Netflix ended.
What Peter Chernin said about switching from Netflix to Apple
Earlier, Chernin collaborated with Apple on TV shows like See and Truth Be Told. Their next joint project, Chief of War starring Jason Momoa, is set to premiere in August.

In a statement to Bloomberg, Chernin said: 'We've had a great experience working with Apple on the series side, where they've been smart, daring, and always supportive — we're excited to build on that success by making movies together.'
Apple is expanding its film efforts to strengthen its Apple TV+ streaming platform, aiming to match the success of its hit shows like
Ted Lasso
and Severance in the feature film space. Its most ambitious movie yet, F1 starring Brad Pitt, is set to premiere in theatres on June 27 before hitting the platform.
Meanwhile, veteran media executive and producer Peter Chernin has consolidated his entertainment ventures under North Road, which is producing a variety of content this year, from reality shows to scripted series and films.
While Netflix is scaling back on movie production, Apple is increasing its output, with recent releases like The Gorge and Fountain of Youth debuting directly on Apple TV+.

Jake Paul Dominates Chavez In Whitewash; Eyes Bigger Fights in Boxing Career

Jake Paul defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a 10-round cruiserweight bout by unanimous decision. Paul aims for tougher opponents next. YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul made light work of former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on Saturday night, cruising to a unanimous decision win in their 10-round cruiserweight bout in California. Paul, 28, controlled the fight from the opening bell, using superior speed and power to overwhelm the 39-year-old Mexican veteran. The judges at ringside scored the fight 99-91, 98-92, and 97-93 — all in favor of Paul, who extended his professional record in what has become a headline-grabbing boxing career. The fight marked Paul's first outing since his controversial exhibition with 58-year-old Mike Tyson last November. While that bout drew mixed reviews, Paul's performance on Saturday was clinical and decisive. Outclassed from the Start Chavez Jr., son of Mexican boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez, struggled to offer any meaningful resistance. The former middleweight world champion failed to land a single punch in the opening round—a trend that continued throughout the fight. Despite entering the ring with 63 professional bouts under his belt, Chavez Jr. appeared sluggish and out of sync, unable to keep pace with Paul's tempo or land significant offense. By the final bell, the result was never in doubt. 'It was flawless," Paul said afterward on DAZN. 'I think I only got hit ten times. Really, he just survived, and I thought I did great, going 10 rounds against a former world champion who has never been stopped." Big Payday, Bigger Ambitions Although Paul received a guaranteed purse of around $300,000 for the bout, total earnings from pay-per-view revenue and sponsorship deals are expected to land in the $8–10 million range. By contrast, he reportedly earned around $40 million from his Tyson event, which streamed on Netflix. Following his win, Paul wasted no time in looking ahead to potential high-profile opponents. 'I want tougher fighters. I want to be world champion," Paul said. 'Zurdo looked slow as shit tonight. That'd be easy work, too. 'Badou Jack. I want everybody. Anthony Joshua, Gervonta (Davis). And Tommy (Fury), stop running." Paul emphasized that he has no plans to slow down and wants to stay active as he continues to build credibility in the boxing world. 'As soon as possible," he said when asked about his return. 'I'm staying active, I'm fighting everybody. You've already seen my face hella. Get used to seeing it more."
