Adani Group doubles capex commitment to `1 trn in NE region
This investment is on top of Rs50,000 crore that his group had committed to investing in Assam in February. Speaking at the Rising NorthEast Investors Summit here, the head of ports-to-energy conglomerate said his group's initiative will prioritise local jobs, local entrepreneurship and community engagement.
'Three months ago, in Assam, we pledged an investment of Rs50,000 crore. Today, once again, humbled and inspired by your leadership, I announce that the Adani Group will invest an additional Rs50,000 crore across the Northeast over the next 10 years,' he said in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The investments will span green energy, including smart-meters, hydro, pumped storage, power transmission, roads & highways, digital infrastructure, logistics, as well as capacity-building through skilling and vocational training centres.
'But more than infrastructure, we will invest in people. Every initiative will prioritise local jobs, local entrepreneurship, and community engagement. This is what Viksit Bharat 2047 is all about,' he said.
Adani said over the past decade, in the hills and valleys of the Northeast, a new chapter in India's growth story is unfolding. 'A story rooted in diversity, resilience, and untapped potential,' he said. 'This region is now a source of our cultural pride, economic promise, and strategic direction.' And behind this rise is the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who recognised no borders, only beginnings, he said. 'When you said, 'Act East, Act Fast, Act First, ' you gave the Northeast its wake-up call.'
This has been reflected in 65 personal visits by the Prime Minister, Rs6.2 lakh crore of investment since 2014, doubling the road network to 16,000 kms and doubling the number of airports to 18. 'This is not just policy. It is your hallmark of big thinking. It is the hallmark of your belief system. It is the hallmark of your conviction in Sabka Saath - Sabka Vikas!,' he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Argentina on Saturday as part of his five-nation visit. The Indian community welcomed him in the capital, Buenos Aires. PM Modi is in Argentina on an official visit on July 4 and 5, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Argentina, Javier Milei.(DPR PMO) Argentina is the third leg of PM Modi's five-nation tour after Ghana, and Trinidad and Tobago. Laying out the itinerary of the PM's visit, Ambassador Kumar told ANI that the PM will pay homage to Jose de San Martin, widely regarded as the Father of the Argentine Nation, at the Plaza de San Martin in Buenos Aires. PM Modi will also hold delegation-level talks with Argentine President Javier Milei. Afterwards, he will visit the famous Boca Juniors Stadium to observe Argentine football. Ambassador Kumar also emphasised that this will be the Indian Prime Minister's first visit in over five decades and mentioned the "multifaceted" relations between both nations. "Prime Minister had the occasion to meet the President of Argentina last November during the G20 in Brazil. This visit will only consolidate the points discussed during the last meeting. India and Argentina relations are multifaceted. We have cooperation across a range of subjects. It was only last year that we celebrated 75 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries," he said. The rest of PM Narendra Modi's five-nation visit PM Modi is in Buenos Aires at the official invitation of the President of the Republic of Argentina. After completing his visit to Argentina, PM Modi will head to Brazil from July 5 to July 8 to attend the 17th BRICS Summit 2025. In the final leg of his five-nation tour, the PM will visit Namibia and also address its parliament.

As of now, this facility is available up to the 4th generation... This announcement was very enthusiastically received by the Indian diaspora, which constitutes almost 40 to 45% of the population of this country. In the education sector, we have announced the gifting of 2000 laptops to school students in Trinidad & Tobago. India also announced the holding of an artificial limb fitment camp in Trinidad and Tobago, she said. 'As part of India's humanity campaign, India also announced the holding of an artificial limb fitment camp in T&T for 50 days for 800 people. There were two more announcements in the healthcare sector. One was a gift of 20 Hemodialysis units and two sea ambulances to T&T to assist in the provision of health care. India will also train 10 pundits from Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean region in India. 'At the request of the Trinidad & Tobago Government, we have agreed to the training of 10 pundits of T&T and the Caribbean region in India,' Malhotra said. Neen Malhotra also informed about the six Memorandum of Understanding signed between two countries. 'PM Modi held extensive discussions with the leadership of Trinidad & Tobago covering the entire gamut of the bilateral relationship. A total of six MoUs or agreements have been signed between the two countries.' The six Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed following delegation-level talks between PM Modi and his Trinidad and Tobago counterpart Kamla Persad-Bissessar in Port of Spain on Friday. The MoUs include an agreement on the Indian Pharmacopoeia, which aims to provide improved access to Indian pharmaceutical products in the Trinidad and Tobago market, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated in a statement. To strengthen the development corporation partnership between the two countries, an agreement was signed for an Indian grant to implement Quick Impact Projects (QIP). Agreements were also signed to strengthen cooperation in sports, diplomatic training and the re-establishment of two ICCR Chairs of Hindi and Indian Studies at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Trinidad and Tobago. An MoU on the Programme of Cultural Exchanges for the period 2025-2028 was also signed. After concluding his visit to Trinidad and Tobago, PM Modi embarked on his visit to Argentina for the 3rd leg of his five-nation tour. (ANI)

"It is a privilege": Argentine artists eagerly awaiting PM Modi
Buenos Aires [Argentina], July 5 (ANI): As Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on his visit to Buenos Aires, Argentine artists who are set to perform in the welcoming ceremony, expressed their excitement, calling it a 'privilege' to showcase their talents by performing Indian classical dances before the PM. Speaking with ANI, Anandini Dasi, an Argentine artist of Indian origin, said, 'It is such a privilege to be a part of the welcome ceremony. We will give our best... I hope he will like it. It is an honour to receive him here. We hope he visits this country more and more.' Another artist of the group said that they will perform Malhari and Pushpanjali (flower offering) in the styles of Kathak and Bharatanatyam in the welcome ceremony of PM. 'We are really excited. We have been working hard for this day... We will perform Malhari and Pushpanjali (flower offering) in the styles of Kathak and Bharatanatyam... We love Indian culture,' she said. Another Argentine artist said, 'I am very excited, and we have been preparing hard... We are going to do a Jugalbandi, and decided that Malhari was a good way to give a proper welcome to such an important global person.' Additionally, an Indian diaspora member from Jharkhand expressed their delight over PM Modi's visit to Argentina. 'I am from Jharkhand and I have been living in Argentina for the last 30 years... We are delighted that someone from our country is visiting here,' she said.
