Sam Raimi's SPIDER-MAN Trilogy Swings Back Into Theaters with the Extended '2.1' Cut — GeekTyrant
Get ready to relive the web-slinging magic. Fathom Entertainment is teaming up with Sony Pictures to bring Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man trilogy back to theaters this fall, and that includes Spider-Man 2.1, the extended cut fans have been waiting to see on the big screen. The limited event kicks off September 26 with Raimi's 2002 Spider-Man , continues with Spider-Man 2.1 on September 27, and wraps with Spider-Man 3 on September 28. There will be an encore round running the following weekend (Oct. 3–5). Tickets go on sale July 25. For the first time ever, Spider-Man 2.1 will hit theaters in 4K. The longer version of the critically acclaimed sequel includes additional and extended scenes that deepen the story and expand the action. For longtime fans, this is a rare chance to see Raimi's vision in full on the big screen. Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Entertainment, shared his excitement: 'The success of 'Spider-Man' in 2002 helped launch the modern era of superhero films. To this day, Tobey Maguire's take on Spider-Man resonates across generations. 'At Fathom Entertainment, we celebrate fandom and I am delighted that 'Spider-Man 2.1' in 4K will make its theatrical debut, a true gift for longtime fans and a thrilling discovery for new ones.' This re-release is part of Fathom's ongoing Fan Favorites series. They've already brought back classics like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Clueless this year, with more on the way with Rocky IV , S unset Boulevard , and The Sound of Music are all on deck. Earlier this year, the entire Spider-Man live-action lineup had a brief return to theaters via Cinemark, including Tom Holland's MCU entries and Andrew Garfield's two Amazing films. But this new event gives Raimi's trilogy the solo spotlight, with the added bonus of that never-before-seen-on-the-big-screen cut. This is a great opportunity to revisit these films on the big screen again!
