UAE launches programme to train youth in global social missions
Launched from Japan, the programme seeks to embed a culture of volunteerism and community responsibility, provide specialised skills through high-quality training, and support global crisis response and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Khaled Al Nuaimi, Director of the Federal Youth Authority, said the initiative is a new milestone in strengthening the UAE's pivotal role in volunteer and humanitarian work and promotes the UAE's positive soft power globally through dynamic youth participation.
Al Nuaimi emphasised the UAE's longstanding commitment to humanitarian causes, inspired by the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who instilled in UAE citizens the values of generosity and solidarity in times of crisis. The UAE has become one of the world's most influential countries in providing aid through medical, food, and development projects globally.
Over the next five years, the programme reportedly aims to train young Emiratis aged 21 to 35, who are "passionate about humanitarian work and committed to promoting values of solidarity and community responsibility." It seeks to raise awareness, support communities in need, and involve youth in international relief missions, according to state news agency WAM.

Reem Adel Ahmad Al Zarouni will represent the UAE in the final round of the Arab Reading Challenge, held in Dubai, vying for the title in the 9th edition. The competition involves multiple elimination rounds, culminating in the selection of champions who have read, summarised, and demonstrated comprehension of 50 books. The competition progresses from the classroom to the school, district, and country levels, ultimately leading to the selection of national champions from participating countries, both within the Arab world and internationally. Distinguished champions and schools are selected based on comprehensive, standardised criteria. In the People of Determination category, participants are required to read 25 books. The UAE has consistently demonstrated strong participation and achieved significant milestones in the Arab Reading Challenge. Notably, Amna Mohammed Al Mansouri won the title in the 2023 seventh edition, which saw 24.8 million students from 46 countries participate. Al Ebdaa School - Cycle 1 received the Best School award in the eighth edition, involving over 28 million students from 50 countries. In the fifth edition, with over 21 million participants from 52 countries, Moza Al Ghannah earned the Outstanding Supervisor award. The ninth edition of the Arab Reading Challenge, an initiative of MBRGI, achieved record participation with 32.231 million students from 132,112 schools in 50 countries, guided by 161,004 supervisors. Launched in the 2015-2016 academic year under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Arab Reading Challenge aims to promote reading among students, within the Arab world as well as globally, and cultivate creative thinking. It also aims to cultivate a vibrant Arabic reading culture, emphasising the language's capacity for all forms of knowledge and encouraging its daily use among youth. This empowers students with the knowledge to build a brighter future, refine their skills and character, understand other cultures and embrace the values of tolerance, coexistence and acceptance.

Sharjah Social Services takes part in ‘Al Khairat'
The programme 'The Emirati House – Al Khairat' aims to highlight authentic societal practices that reinforce the concept of positive citizenship and showcase the behavioural and social aspects of Emirati cultural heritage. Instilling values and strengthening Emirati identity On this occasion, Naama Al Zarouni, Director of the Social Education Department at Sharjah Social Services, affirmed the importance of the department's participation in community programmes like 'The Emirati House – Al Khairat', due to their positive impact on children and society as a whole. She pointed out that the department, through its Social Education Division, always seeks to deepen the understanding of Emirati identity and connect new generations with their heritage, while ensuring workshops are delivered in enjoyable and interactive learning environments. Al Zarouni explained that the workshops—delivered by a specialised team from the Social Education Department—aim to teach the fundamentals of Emirati customs and traditions, including hospitality etiquette, how to receive guests, and how to serve Arabic coffee. She stressed that such activities help instil values in children from a young age, especially in light of the challenges posed by the digital age, which can affect morals and values. She added that as a community institution, the department is committed to integration and cooperation with various child-focused entities to preserve local identity and community heritage. She praised the efforts of Sharjah Children and their constant dedication to launching diverse initiatives that develop children's skills and empower them to become productive contributors to society. Dubai Police honour officer's son for topping high school exams
After securing first place at the Applied Technology High School in Sharjah, Dubai Police honoured Humaid Adel Mohammad Abdullah Obaid for his outstanding academic performance during the 2024–25 academic year. Humaid, the son of Corporal Adel Mohammad from the General Department of Logistics Support, ranked among the UAE's top high school achievers in the general stream. The recognition was presented by Major-General Dr Ahmed Zaal bin Kreshan Al Muhairi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Financial and Administrative Affairs at Dubai Police, who congratulated Humaid and his family.
