After Defending Diljit Dosanjh For Sardaar Ji 3, Naseerudin Shah Deletes FB Post

News18a day ago
Naseeruddin Shah defended Diljit Dosanjh amid backlash over his film Sardaar Ji 3, urging not to blame actors for casting decisions and to separate art from politics.
Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, who recently came to Diljit Dosanjh's defence amid backlash over his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3, has now deleted the Facebook post in which he addressed the controversy.v Diljit had come under fire for working alongside Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in the third instalment of the popular Sardaar Ji franchise. In his now-deleted post, Shah had clarified that the casting of the film was not in Diljit's hands, and urged people not to hold actors personally responsible for creative decisions made by producers or studios.
The acclaimed actor also spoke more broadly about the strained relationship between India and Pakistan, voicing his concern over attempts to restrict personal or artistic exchanges between the two nations. He talked about the importance of keeping art and cinema separate from political tensions.
Shah has deleted the post now. He did not issue a statement explaining why he removed it though.
On Monday, Naseeruddin took to social media to support Diljit saying, 'I STAND FIRMLY WITH DILJIT. The dirty tricks deptt of Jumla Party has been awaiting a chance to attack him. They think they've got it at last. He was not responsible for the casting of the film, the director was. But no one knows who he is whereas Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned. What these goons want is to put an end to personal interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. I have close relatives and some dear friends there and no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love whenever i feel like it".
'And my response to those who will say 'Go to Pakistan" is 'GO TO KAILASA"," he concluded.
Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh has stayed confident about his decision to release Sardaar Ji 3 worldwide. He recently gave fans a peek into how the film is being received in Pakistan.
On Instagram, Diljit re-shared a video showing an excited crowd inside a Pakistani theatre cheering during a scene featuring actress Hania Aamir. In another post, he shared the film's early box office success, revealing that it had earned Rs 11.03 crore in just two days of release.
At the moment, Diljit Dosanjh's latest film Sardaar Ji 3 is at the centre of a major controversy. The film, which also stars Neeru Bajwa and Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, has been criticised heavily for featuring a Pakistani actor. As a result, it was not released in India and instead opened internationally on June 27.
After the trailer was launched, several groups began calling for a ban on Diljit and all his future projects in India. Both the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued statements demanding the ban.
The controversy comes shortly after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, and India's response — Operation Sindoor — which involved air strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7.

Kannappa Box Office Day 5: Vishnu Manchu's Film Struggles, Mints Rs 27 Crore

Last Updated: Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa, despite mixed reviews, has collected ₹27 crore at the box office in 5 days, according to Kannappa Box Office Collections Day 5: Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa may have ridden in with sky-high expectations and the promise of a grand mythological spectacle, but five days in, the numbers are telling a slightly different story. Despite a strong start, the film has been facing an uphill climb at the box office. Released to mixed reviews, Kannappa opened decently and drew attention for its larger-than-life visuals. But the momentum seems to be slowing down. According to the latest report by the film has managed to collect Rs 27 crore in its first five days. While not a disaster by any means, it's clear that the film is struggling to hold on to audiences post the opening weekend. As per early estimates, Kannappa collected Rs 1.75 crore on its fifth day, marking the film's lowest single-day collection so far. After a strong opening weekend, the film has seen a noticeable dip in numbers. Kannappa had kicked off with Rs 9.35 crore on its first day, followed by Rs 7.15 crore on Saturday and Rs 6.9 crore on Sunday. However, Monday saw a sharp drop with Rs 2.3 crore coming in. With Tuesday's earnings, the total box office collection now stands at Rs 27.45 crore. On Tuesday, Kannappa recorded an overall Telugu occupancy of just 14.13 per cent. On Monday, Vishnu Manchu took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a concerning update about Kannappa. The actor revealed that the film has become a victim of piracy, with over 30,000 illegal links already taken down. In a note, he wrote, 'Kannappa is under attack from piracy. This is heartbreaking. Piracy is theft — plain and simple. We don't teach our children to steal. Watching pirated content is no different. Please don't encourage it. Support cinema the right way." Kannappa was released in multiple languages — Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi — but it's the Telugu version that has performed the best so far at the box office. Kannappa is a big moment in Vishnu Manchu's career. It's already his highest-grossing film so far. His earlier releases like Ginna and Mosagallu didn't even manage to touch Rs 1 crore in their entire run. The last time Vishnu had a solid opening was back in 2014 with Rowdy, which made Rs 3 crore on Day 1 and wrapped up its first week at around Rs 11 crore. A review by News18 of Kannappa read, 'The whole sequence and the visual effects are superbly done, an example of how far our cinema has evolved technologically. Back in the day, the same scene would've involved golden cardboard arrows moving at less than 24 frames per second. One arrow would spew fire, the opponent's would quench it with water. If one turned into a snake, the other would become its predator, an eagle. Mukesh Kumar Singh's Kannappa isn't weighed down by such age-old silliness. Here, the fight sequences and visuals look rich. However, if one were to read out the dialogues of Kannappa and any devotional film from the past one after the other, it would be hard to discern which is from 2025 and which is not."
